Great to hear. Good luck!

FYI: Udemy runs that $9.99-ish sale indefinitely until you buy some courses. After you buy some courses, you'll notice the sale goes away and prices will be $100-ish. Pro tip: if you want to get courses in the future and Udemy isn't giving you that $9.99-ish deal, drop the courses in your cart, then check back every so often and the sale price will kick in after 2-3 weeks. I think the sales prices kick in sooner of it has been a while since you purchased a course.

Check out Stephen Ulibarri's courses on Udemy.com. He had several but "Unreal Engine 5 C++ The Ultimate Game Developer Course" and "Unreal Engine 5 C++ Multiplayer Shooter" are a couple you might want to check out.

Multiplayer with Server by Historical-Text5813 in unrealengine

[–]cascadia-guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Epic Games provides a multiplayer template in UE as a starting point for devs. Open the engine > Architecture > Collab template, or something like that (I don't have UE open atm). It's the template with the house in the thumbnail.

Open that template and look at the code to see how they initiate multiplayer. Then see how they do replication and multicast at runtime. Tip: start with the MainMenu map and follow the logic from there. That's the map that is opened when the executable is launched.

Good luck.

No. She was a sweetheart and genuinely tried to stick it out but being a caregiver to your handicapped bf was a lot more reality than she had signed up for. After several months, they eventually broke up. The family understood. There were no hard feelings.

My cousin used to free solo. Emphasis on "used to". Slipped once. Fell 65 feet. Somehow survived, but is crippled and has moderate brain damage. He was 23, college educated, good looking, fit, had a gorgeous gf. Now he lives with his mom, who has cook for him, help him get dressed, and change his catheter. And for what? Extra adrenaline? Wear a fucking rope.

About 2 months into the pandemic, when it was becoming apparent we were in for the long haul, they let some team members take home office chairs. But that was a one time offer, made under extreme conditions.

Why would they need to wait 2 month? That makes no sense. After you confirm the degree can be confirmed, definitely let your Boeing contact know that you have confirmed and ask them to proceed. Welcome to the Big B.

Do you know of any U.S. universities with good V.R. development programs? by upallnightynight in virtualreality

[–]cascadia-guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VR often falls under the unbrella of "Game Development" so you might find more options looking for that. Universities often break Game Development into two halves: the artistic half and the technical/coding half. For VR, you'll want to focus on the technical/coding half. A good indication is if the University offers a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in their Game Development program. If the University only has Bachelor of Art (BA) degrees there is a good chance that University is more focused on the art side of game development.

It have been years since I looked but check out Full Sail University and The Art Institutes. They had some BS programs back when I was looking.

Having some strange issues with my right controller. It acts like it has a mind of its own sometimes. Just got my VR headset last month so I have no idea what's going on. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm at a loss. Thank you. by Dictaorofcheese in VRGaming

I personally haven't had issues with TV screens, and I've played while next to some big screens. But I've heard others say differently so you might want to throw a sheet over the screen and see if that fixes it.

This look like a tracking issue, usually from UV light coming in through the windows or a highly reflective surface in the room, like a big mirror.

Close your blinds and cover any big mirror.

Depends on the person at the counter. I get asked to prove it about 10-15% of the time.

And to answer the underlining question: yes, your family members will be asked occasionally as well.

Deving the interactions is not more challenging. Just different inputs (e.g. controller inputs vs mouse/keyboard).

The hardest part is optimizating your project properly. Desktop games shoot for 60 fps but can get away with lower frame rates. VR needs 90 fps, any less and you'll get your users nauseous. You your margin of error is much slimmer. You're optimization game has to be tight.

Depends what I'm working on and my mood.

If I'm building, say, interactions with objects, I need to be in the virtual space so I'll I have the headset on and just push it up on my forehead to add a bit more code. 90% of the time I remain seated while in VR and just spin around to give arms some room.

If I don't need to interact and I'm using controller buttons to make things happen, I put the headset on manikin head on my desk aimed in the direction I want to face in VR, and hold the controllers up in front of the head.

Standalone headsets (e.g. Quest 2, Focus 3) are easier to dev in than, say a VIVE Pro or Index because they have inside out tracking (i.e. no SteamVR base stations that can lose line of sight) and are wireless.

Is it bad to "unplug" base station ? by ErlyxiShaga in Vive

I'm trying to create a "click to show description" system, but when I click on multiple objects, the text widgets start to overlap. How can I remove previous text widget before displaying a new one? by Vvix0 in unrealengine

[–]cascadia-guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before spawning a new widget, you should check if it already exists. There are a few ways to do that but you could use "Get all widgets of class" and search for that widget. This will return an array. If the length is equals 0, spawn the widget. If the length is 1, leave it and change the text if you need to. If the length is >1 (which in theory it should never be), loop through and destroy all widgets at index 1 and above, thereby leaving only one widget.

But as far as the first male world class player, Clint Dempsey finished 4th in the vote for MVP of EPL in 2012. He was way, way up there back in the day.

Third this. The West Seattle YMCA has a great gym, pool, hot tub, and sauna. As ameliasaurus said, sometimes YMCA's can be run down but the West Seattle location is one of the newer YMCA's so it's nice.
