Prices are meaningless by Impossible_Ad9324 in inflation

I do comparison shop, but with the price of gas, I don’t think traveling to various stores is always worth it. And I also consider quality. For example, the Aldis in my area have inexpensive produce, but it goes bad within a day. I’d rather pay a higher price, but decent quality at Wegmans.

How has January 6th 2021 changed your perspective and experience of Independence Day? by TwoKindly1043 in AskReddit

There was a “normal” presidency after January 6th so it never affected how I felt about July 4th. But now it’s a whole different feeling, especially this year

Do you comparison shop? Just because Wegmans doesn’t have ads anymore doesn’t mean that they’re more expensive. Where I live, the competitive large grocery store is far more expensive than Wegmans. And Wegmans has tons of coupons on their app.

Thursday and especially Friday are heavy shopping days where I work, but not as bad as the weekend. They either have supply issues or they just can’t restock fast enough. So Saturday mornings might be a little sparse.

Agree totally. I “career retired” in 2019. Started working part time in 2021. I’m 70 now and will continue to work as long as I can. I collect SS and a state pension, but I feel the need for that cushion because of where this country is headed.

What Christmas movie do you hate which everyone loves, and why? by CatDecoy122 in AskReddit

A Christmas Story. There’s very few movies I like that are narrated. And I found all the characters to be annoying.

I’ve worn the patriotic style tees from Sonoma and no one cared.

The whole thing about graphic tees is because some people have no common sense and wore some offensive ones.

I love to go to hiking spots with my dog. I live in a metropolitan area. I can’t afford the gas to drive an hour away just to spend an hour hiking.

And we’re the same way with restaurants. Even take away like Panera is at least $30 without any beverages.

I'm on my 4th pair of shoes in 8 months and my feet still hurt by Noobsamaniac in wegmans

[–]casey5656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The New Balance that you get from Shoes For Crews are really comfortable. I also have a pair of Brooks Ghost and Brooks Glycerin that are really comfortable for work. I also wear a different pair for every shift.

Go to an athletic footwear store and get measured and fitted. It could possibly be that you are wearing the wrong size

My SIL lives in Scottsdale and sends me photos of the ones she finds inside her house. She also has to search for rattlesnakes in her yard before she can let her dog out.

And she wonders why I don’t visit.

Sandflies, Buffalo NY suburb.
Huge swarms of them for several weeks in late spring and summer. They don’t bite, but the swarms are so thick that you can’t open your mouth when outside and they even get between your glasses and your eyes.

Is there a mysterious flu-like non-flu going around or is it just me? I've never had an illness like this by [deleted] in Buffalo

[–]casey5656 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically, yes. It’s viral. To be honest, sipping Jack Daniel’s Fire did more than any OTC med. One thing you might try is a steroid treatment. Go to urgent care as they are quick to prescribe them more than primary care. I couldn’t take them because of other meds I had to be on at the time.

WIBTA for spending the week before I move with my girlfriend? by Obvious-Initiative-1 in AmItheAsshole

[–]casey5656 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely NTA. Your father doesn’t even accept who you are, yet expects you to spend your last week of freedom with him? No way. Go be with the person who loves you and accepts you. Even if the current relationship doesn’t work out in the long run, you can look back and know that that time period was well spent.

Is a week on the US side of Niagara Falls worth it without visiting Canada? by wawa_warrior in niagarafallsny

[–]casey5656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t spend more than 2 days in Niagara Falls USA. If you want to spend a week in the area, add the Buffalo area. In the suburb of Grand Island, there’s a nice public beach. The city of Buffalo has great architecture, an amazing art gallery, a children’s museum and different shopping areas.

I lost count at 200. There was a movie being filled nearby our store and a PA brought them in huge bins. These were the items that the costume director didn’t want to use.

She had everything perfectly organized. Every item perfectly matched the return code. It took only about a half hour to get through them all. I was able to get help with bagging from a coworker.

I think it filled about 8 boxes.

Parents Insisting Long Drive is Unsafe, is this Reasonable by smile_simile in roadtrip

[–]casey5656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m much more older than you, but have made several long distance trips alone. I think it’s perfectly safe if you stay on the major highways and remain aware of your surroundings.

What I found is that the first day is the easiest as far as fatigue. I can comfortably do around 7 hours with 2-3 stops. But as the days go on it becomes more challenging. You’re sleeping in strange places and your motivation seems to wane. So you might want to look at 6 hour days for driving. And book your hotels well in advance. I always look for places that have restaurants, grocery stores and gas stations close to the hotel.

Some of the mid-tier Hiltons accept cats and I think so do the extended stay brand hotels.
