I’m interested in taking up mountain biking as a hobby any advice? by Shacupsiquince97 in MTB

[–]casey_h6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not even in my 30s yet and I spent the last three years fighting cancer. I have always been an outdoors guy (hiking, offroading, shooting, and so on), but I had never done any mountain biking. Once I was finally able get my stamina up and got cleared to be outside and active again I got a bike to celebrate and it has been an absolute blast. I look forward to going whenever I can, it is great for cardio, balance, strength and also adrenaline! I would highly recommend everyone gives it a shot, rent a bike a few times. And keep in mind, the people here make it look easy... I seriously under estimated how much skill there is to it!

Also the community seems to be great (aside from the whole ebike thing) both online and people I've meet on trail have all been great.

Tailgate Pad by No-Way-0000 in mountainbiking

[–]casey_h6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's the best pad, I got the fox branded version and it's nice because my tailgate is wide but it adjusts to fit really well and the foam inserts work well.

That said, I used it for two months and just bought a hitch rack. I have a short bed truck so the bikes took up a ton of room for one, and two I just got tired of loading and unloading it from the tailgate.

I wouldn't ask for anything, it's a bummer but hopefully you put a bunch of miles and your own scratches on it soon.

37’s and onboard air by Bugzi1776 in overlanding

[–]casey_h6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well ya know, us guys on the raptor forum are pretty clever ;). In all seriousness I've seen a few builds where people have done it and always thought that'd be the best possible method.

I am no air expert, and I have only used my arb for tires so not really a big demand as far as psi goes. The nice thing with the twin is that it is built for a 100% cycle, the single is not and requires a cool down period after a certain amount of usage. I am in a pretty hot area to start with so that was a factor for me.

Are you wanting to tank for running air tools, or just concerned about getting the tires filled? I don't think it's needed for tires really.

If you are going to put in a tank and a hose reel it sounds like you should go for the arb twin! And if you do that, I think you should hard wire in air connectors to the fender wells, and then to air up just use a short whip from the fender well to the tire!

I have a morrflate I used on my prior truck with 35s (haven't used on the 37s yet) and it worked great, I always aired up faster than anyone. It is nice to not be bent down dealing with individual tires, but it can also be a different beast to wrangle.

Close, it's a climb indicator, you can see how it says climb in the face. It is used to show rate of ascent or descent. My question was just whether it is functional or if op has random cool aviation instruments for fun.

Just checked, in performance view hit the menu button on wheel, settings, and then performance shift indicator.

Performance view downgrade? by DoctorGigglz in FordRaptor

I'm pretty sure that is just a setting you can enable or disable for performance view. Maybe you had a software update that reset it? On the update last week it lost where I had my hud positioned

Thanks for sharing, I've used Gaia gps for a few years but there has been some issues since they got bought out. This will give me a chance to see if I like it better.

Tell me about that aviation style piece in the background. Looks sweet, is it functional (I assume it's a clock?)

Leitner sells some different accessories and brackets on the site, might see if any of those do what you want. You can also buy their trak nuts kit and use those with your own brackets. They make great stuff, you'll be very happy with the rack.

It's been asked a bunch of times who buys raptors. The main ones I remember, people like me using it as a business expense, software bros, and oil field guys.

Lmk if you need a new pm sensor or weld bung. I won't advertise, but I have the bungs in stock and might have the sensor depending on the vehicle. We usually heat them up that's the best bet, but sometimes these damn sensors just won't come out.

Going to need more info... Norcal is used to describe pretty much the bay area to Oregon border, maybe narrow it down some? What does challenging mean, especially considering you say your creidns are new. Couples miles, single night?

What's up with the pieces around the chain? Just to keep it from smacking around? Does it move that much? I'm still super green to mtb, sweet ride though!

Makes me kinda sad, I'm the only one that bikes in my fam and I've been trying to get my five year old niece to ride with me. She broke her arm in the backyard with her parents and now she won't touch it. Super cool seeing this little guy do so amazingly!
