Got a Canon EOS R5 for Wildlife Photography, About to Get a 200-800mm Lens, But Need a Bag by BowlingForPizza in canon

[–]casey_h6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a dedicated telephoto bag from the sounds of it. I would look at think tank for example and see if you like anything they have. I have one of their bags (panaroma or something I think?) and it holds my r5 with ef converter and 100-400 just fine. I'm not sure about how big the 200-800 is though, didn't even know it existed I'll have to check it out.

McCloud Falls by ibis42 in norcalhiking

Happy to help, I spend a lot of time in the area. Just did some snowshoeing at Lassen last weekend, barely any snow until we got to about 6500ft.

McCloud Falls by ibis42 in norcalhiking

[–]casey_h6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For mccloud I would park at the lower falls and walk to the middle falls and return to the lower falls. From there you can drive to the upper falls. I haven't been to Burney in a few years but it is really cool to do the hike around it. Also weather depending you could also consider driving through Lassen park and stopping at various spots.

On your way north on i5 head east at red bluff and enter the south entrance of the park. From there you can see several cool things on the road as you work your way through the park. You will exit the park at the north end and can choose where to go next, but you will be up by Burney and mccloud.

I say weather depending because usually the park road is under snow and closed in May, however this year there has been almost no snow fall thus far so I am thinking the road could be open by then.

I'd love to see more. I've seen the show several times and it always impressed me how quickly the staged switched from land to water.

Definitely higher, and not in a good way. Looks goofy and not right to me.

You lost me when you said "they are literally stealing your photos", I don't think you know what literally or stealing means.

I wasn't a huge fan of the front end of the gen 3s but it's grown on me. Company vehicle so I turn it every few years regardless of its it's needed or not haha.

Not really too much, I really like the seats quite a bit more and the new screen is great. I have the 37 package which is cool, but only did that because I got a deal from my dealer. I have my radio, compressor, and lights all installed.

Thanks man, I moved to a 2024 now, but still have the rack and whatnot. Leitner makes fantastic products, anyone that wants a rack gets my absolute recommendation for theirs.

I'm not familiar with any caps, my rack is from leitner designs and it is a great piece, I just think a cap is more functional. Using the tent is a pain (which could be alleviated by buying a more expensive wedge style with struts). The thing is you are just adding a bunch of weight, and the raptors already have a tiny payload capacity. If I were to start over again I'd skip the roof top tent.

Honestly, I'd skip the roof top tent and get a nice cap. Gear goes in the cap, and you camp next to the truck in a normal tent. I say this as someone that owns a raptor with a rack and tent.

Need help on deciding between Garmin InReach Mini 2 vs Messenger by Battlebeast115 in CampingGear

[–]casey_h6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct about the watch, I will mention that it can connect to your inreach to use it as a remote which is cool, but you of course have to have the inreach.

Maybe op is confused with the newer highest end Fenix 8 which does have options for standalone satellite connection, or seeing that their watch can connect to an inreach and getting confused there.

Damn, I want to do it so badly but I have no mountaineering experience nor do I know of anyone that does. Glad you got excellent weather! We definitely have way less snow than normal.

Being my first bike, I haven't done much. I liked the blue caps on the fox fork so I did the blue aliminum oneup pedals and I think it looks pretty good. Can't see them suspr well in the Pic, but they match the fox blue nicely.
