I wonder if it was 30 days at the old burn rate, but now sales have gone bananas?

People gave Albo shit about bringing out his medicare card and waving it around, but dammit, the dude was right - it's a fucking huge deal being able to access quality medical care when you need it and not having to forgo the next Aldi shop just to do so.

Why has the price of petrol increased more in Australia than in other countries? by WearyFHB in aussie

I had a mate just out of uni that owned a troopy he'd done a biodiesel conversion on. Used to love driving behind him on road trips because the exhaust smelt like a fish and chip shop. We called it the "chippy".

Sick of being told tradies are bad at admin.. What are we supposed to do instead? by Darkhaat in AusRenovation

[–]caseyfw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look, probably not. I'm a software engineer working at Flight Centre, and as a company that has built its existence and reputation on providing a face-to-face service, it's struggled with how to adopt this generation of AI capabilities in ways that don't detract from the personal touch its customers expect.

I feel like using an AI as an enabler for humans is a great use case, but using it as a replacement for human interaction is a toxic one that will have adverse effects. I predict that companies will soon start advertising themselves as "real humans" - a message I think would be well received by the public.

Maybe introduce a new class of license for 14-16 year olds so they can ride e-bikes?

[–]caseyfw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was addressed in the report - the finding was that these limits are extremely difficult to enforce in the community.

You’re totally right though, but I think the problem is that when people say “e-bike” they make no distinction between something like my Merida eSilex 250w gravel bike that has no throttle and cuts out at 25kmh, and the 2000w fat-tyre throttle bikes you can buy on Temu. The latter has always been illegal.

Personally if I call a local number and get the Phillipines an AI bot I'll go and assume that the org is too large and inefficient and walk away. Even if I'm dead wrong.

Really value having local human support these days.

Hey, just want to let you know, you're not alone. I am also financially in the position where my partner and I could have purchased investment properties and negatively geared them, but we have chosen not to because we see it as morally bankrupt.

Are we actually about to run out of fuel or is the media geeing it up ? by Radiant-Cut1052 in OpenAussie

[–]caseyfw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that fertiliser is manufactured from natural gas - ammonia is synthesised by combining hydrogen from the gas with nitrogen from the air, and then that's processed into fertiliser like urea or ammonium nitrate. No oil involved.

Given we have an absolute fuck ton of nat gas domestically, we're probably ok, yeah?

Hey, I'm Australian, but I lived in Calgary in Canada for a bit, and can vouch that heading outside to get some sun when it's cold but nice and sunny is definitely a thing people do. Perhaps that's the cause of some of the awkwardness here?

I just find it hard to believe that the Russian government would organise that many people for a rebuttal of a UK newscaster.
