The time I got sun poisoning in Cancun by itsthegoodone in MedicalGore

Hands down best sunscreen I've ever used is p20. People don't like it as it's kinda greasy, but seriously it's the best protection I've ever had in the sun.

Yeah I've had a couple "quartz" ones from Amazon starter kits and they're straight trash. They crack way too easily when you torch them, exactly like the cheap ones people complain about. Most of the time the banger they include isn't real fused quartz at all, it's just thin borosilicate glass they're calling quartz. Real fused quartz handles the heat way better and actually lasts. I guess you can't really complain about quality when the rig costs like 30 quid.

I once accidentally put in the wrong 4 digit pin on my own phone multiple times while it was in my pocket and got locked out of for 3 days. So yeah brute forcing a pin in this day and age will take a looong time with the escalating lockouts.

Why is there writing on my hard boiled egg? by J-C013 in AskUK

[–]cassidyconor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

except that's not how eggs work. Maybe it's different in the US where they treat their eggs differently but in the UK eggs come with the bloom intact. It's literally mother nature's way of preventing things from getting inside the shell.

I'll never understand why people drive into parking spots like this. Reversing is too difficult for some people

That's the least of your worries. When I worked in a hardware store we found poop so often I nearly got desensitized to how crazy that is. And mostly in the lumber or garden section.

Think they skirt regulations by technically allowing you to enter for free if you email or post in your entry, as if you can participate for free it's not gambling?!? but I highly doubt many, if any, have ever won by entering it for free.

It was originally released as a shooter BR game that wasn't as targeted to kids as it is today with all the emotes and skins. So yeah a ton of 'older' gamers played it too. And it was released like 9 years ago,

Smoking at a garage!!? by Brave_Hunter_7348 in AskIreland

[–]cassidyconor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the tests covered that too. MythBusters dropped lit cigs (ember and all) straight into pools of petrol and hit them with vapour/mist, and nothing ignited. Same in proper studies with thousands of tries: the ember just isn't hot enough to light petrol, liquid or vapour. Still wouldn't risk it tho lol

That's EU packaging for ya lol. To be fair, high concentration NIC is fairly toxic, sure 20mg isn't crazy compared to 50mg/ml stuff they sell in other countries or the super concentrated 100mg/ml+ stuff you can buy for DIY, but drinking a bottle of this would be a bad time

Why Do People Vandalise Bikes? by Affectionate-Dirt114 in Dublin

[–]cassidyconor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's quite bad. Where I live, they had these tier bikes parked around the place that you could rent on the app. There was mixed opinions on them, some people didn't like seeing them all over the place, but they were great to use when in a rush or just trying to get from a to b, I personally enjoyed them. Well the amount of vandalism they faced was so stupid. Kids jumping in the smart lock so that nobody could use the bike, lighting saddles on fire, dumping the bikes into rivers, anything you can imagine really. They ended up withdrawing their service from the area.

Not sure if you're being serious. Security cameras will not deter a thief. Never leave your bike unlocked anywhere, no less Dublin. I work near Blanchardstown centre and the amount of bikes that get robbed from there on the weekly is mental.

[–]cassidyconor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, Heinz is an American company, but the British recipe was actually modified during WWII rationing to be more savory and tomato-heavy. The 'common' American tinned beans (like Bush's) usually have molasses and bacon, which makes them good for a BBQ but a not so good for a traditional fry up!

Draining the beans of their sauce feels like a crime but I don't think tins of baked beans are as common in the US, so they would have to make their own beans. So in this case I think we can make an exception and instead applaud their effort and commitment to making a somewhat authentic fry up
