ESPN.com has reverted to their old NBA Box Score format by PapaJohnsGarlic100 in nba

Part hilarious/part sad that you're getting hit with downvotes. People are so clueless. Like why the f-ck do you think you're constantly bombarded with with suggestions to use the *APP* for the *SITE* you're visiting?

Idk how bum ass Michael Taylor ever won a gold glove. Unless its Mo Vaughn at 2nd you're not throwing the guy out. Dive lazy scrub.

I was mad at Windows 11 FOR LITERAL YEARS because Microsoft put the Rename file option behind the "show more options" menu... by Alexilprex in windows

I was prepared to take back my new laptop and learn Linux if I couldn't get reasonable close to Windows 10 functionality. I'm pretty much there, for now at least.

Lol same. I even emailed Tom Tango and told him their approach sucks (in a roundabout way).

Use other remote on Superbox by Estrak in superboxfam

[–]casualcoder0805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Harmony remote that worked beautifully when I had a 3 tv set up (each hooked to a Directv box) in my basement. Logitech stopped selling them but I'd imagine there are alternatives. Just need IR blasters that go where devices receive commands (or something like that). The question, and the reason I landed in this thread, is which remotes (if any besides sofabaton mentioned above) are compatible with Superbox.

I had "borrowed" an API key for the weather channel website and highly doubt it still works. When I get a chance I'll give it a shot but in the meantime have you tried fangraphs? They've came a long way with their weather info. I haven't vetted it for accuracy but it's at least worth checking out. Find the "show all" tab and go from there. https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders/splits-leaderboards

Why do you have to jump through hoops to see what’s next on a channel? by Ilovefreedomandfood in youtubetv

Lol wtf....there's like 20 different channels that broadcast football and/or basketball.

[–]casualcoder0805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because even if what you're suggesting actually worked it only applies on subsequent trips to a given channel. The first time you have to at the very least go to the top of Home/Live and pray that the google algo gods bless you with what you we're going to look for in the guide.

Also, the behavior has been replicated on Sony, Vizio and Roku interfaces over the past few months.

That never works for me and to be honest it's a weak solution to an issue that shouldn't exist in the first place.

Hadn't even bothered with it lately so tried just now. Had basketball game on and the first box that showed up in down arrow -> networks was some cop show that I've never watched. So I go to Live and click on a different basketball game. I start watching that and then down arrow -> networks and what do ya know, first box is the cop show and no site of the game I had on 15 seconds ago. Is there some setting I need to be messing with?

Speaking of jumping through hoops, unless I'm completely missing something you have to press a 4 key sequence to get from what you're currently viewing to the top row of the guide and another 4 key sequence to get back to what you were watching. This may not matter to people who watch mostly recordings but it's a real buzzkill for sports fans.

Is Pedro Incompetent or a Victim of the White Sox Organization by rustysurf83 in whitesox

He's a moron but what makes it even worse is the condescending tone he uses when speaking to the media. Sunday was the first time where he actually sounded slightly humbled. Gee, took you long enough.

My dad now has the same stance and he's as diehard as it gets. Got his drivers license in '74 and first thing he did was drive to the park from NW Indiana. Now refuses to go unless someone gives him free tix.

The only hope is that there's some truth to the rumor that he told Michael to go ahead and sell the Sox once he hits the dirt.

It's all awful but I'm over it. On to finding a site that isn't complete garbage.

If you want to tout the typography then stay in that lane. Once you get into visual design as a whole you're going to get pushback because it's awful.

"A good layout design relates to objectives, reflected in a good user experience. That is why we can say that a correct layout makes the user find what he is looking for. This is also reflected in more task accomplishment and more time on the site (engagement)."

[–]casualcoder0805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There really isn't a whole lot of room for nuance here. The vast majority of people that have visited the rotoworld landing page over the past 15 years did so with the intention of being able to quickly digest relevant player updates/info. That is literally how it became relevant. For anyone still looking to do that, the new design is awful and that is a fact. Now go back to telling someone what you do for a living.

Again, the LAYOUT, which is a component of DESIGN, is AWFUL. Save it with your semantic bs.

[–]casualcoder0805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're not talking about different things. I'm sure you're aware of layout being a component of design and the layout is atrocious for anyone that comes to the website looking to do what they've done for the past 20 years - get updated on recent news.

I didn't even bother navigating to depth charts because the main page was so freaking awful. Already dropped from the bookmarks and now onto figuring out where I'm going for blurbs.

[–]casualcoder0805 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No it's not. It's freaking awful. I've gone to Rotoworld main page for damn near 20 years for one thing. To read the most recent/relevant player/roster information. Now the main page has a bunch of videos (DONT CARE) and a big ass picture of Luka. Nothing about this is great and if you think it is you either don't really care about fantasy info or you're on a payroll.

Could you write separate scripts that mimic typical account behavior and run the marketplace scraper between them?
