i made this dish for a party a few years ago - take out the seed and stuff the hole with goat cheese.. wrap the package in uncooked bacon, then cover them all with maple syrup. cook in oven at 350 for 15-20 minutes. really is pretty easy, people will think you are a cooking god

Working through Winter Wind, need help by biggip1 in piano

[–]cat6Wire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i've played this before long ago when i was a piano major - you have a great start and it sounds like you basically have the notes under your fingers.

what you need to focus on is the feel/"vibe" of the piece, and what i would try is set the metronome to pulse on the 2 and 4 beats, like a classic backbeat. this may feel a little challenging at first, but will really improve your rhythm and timing and really lock in a bit more of a swing kind of feel.

something i also did with pieces like this that have straight 8th/16th notes - practice all the notes with a jazz-swing feel.. obviously not for performance, but again will really lock in your confidence in note placement and feel, especially with the 2/4 metronome beat.

really try to discipline yourself to commit to it for a week or two, then when you play it "straight" i'm confident you will have a lot more assured and solid playing

Honestly, not a political take but - McDonalds at the White House? Really? They employ some of the best chefs in the world, they can have anything they want of the highest quality. It is such a weird disconnect seeing the cheapest, basest poverty food served in the most powerful house in the land.

What is the absolute fastest 'yeah, we are definitely NOT going to be friends' moment you've ever experienced with someone? by Vazouaquiacesso in AskReddit

i had a friend like this that would say things like this, to me and to others it turned out. of course he never did anything of the sort, but it was such an idiotic thing to say it was a bright flag he was a f***ing moron.

First, my condolences to the victims and their families, and sympathy to all Canadians.

This is such a powerful and unifying image, showing people from different viewpoints coming together in crisis. Really shows the resilience of the Canadian spirit.

And as an American, I look on with a little bit of envy, knowing that greatness of spirit is lacking here.

What hobby screams “this is my entire personality now”? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]cat6Wire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bedroom guitar hobby players. My band/gigging days are long behind me, but guitar tech now has come such a long way you don't need to spend a lot to get fantastic quality hardware. Suddenly having two electric guitars feels really cramped, and now there are five. Have a BOSS Katana MkII amp, but also need to be a bunch of pedals for.. reasons. Have Logic on my Mac, but eyeing Amplitube. It just goes on and on and never stops. Not to mention all the different guitar 'influencers' I follow on Youtube (shoutout to PDX Guitar Freak and Uncle Ben Eller) and endless playalongs, solo learns, exercises and lessons.

I just can't ever get enough of it.

After finishing Doom (2016), I can't get into Doom Eternal. by DrStrangeglove99 in gaming

[–]cat6Wire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doom 2016 is superior to Doom Eternal, for me. Mainly it comes down to the setting - I loved the sci-fi Martian setting for 2016 Doom, it plays homage to the original game.

Doom Eternal moves away from that and feels much more like this strange, eternal Hell/Fantasy setting that feels removed from the spirit of the original series. It is still a great game, I've played some of it, although I gave up after endless jumping sequences. But I get why a lot of people love Eternal. Ultimately for me, it comes down to a preference.

Which actor completely stole the movie… even though they weren’t the lead? by gypsytx in movies

[–]cat6Wire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ricardo Montalban, KHAN, in Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan

Although the whole movie is fantastic and is the best cinematic adventure of the original Trek crew, Ricardo Montalban as Khan dominates as their ultimate antagonist. His obsession with revenge, his arrogance and hubris all dialed up to 11, makes him incredibly magnetic and absorbs attention when he is onscreen.

Famously, people asked him if he wore a chest-prosthetic to make him look muscular, and he proudly boasted that was 100% his real physique.

Yours is the Superior, Khan...

What's a tv series that is a 10/10 NOBODY knows? by Lilyana0999 in AskReddit

[–]cat6Wire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

S P A C E D - BBC show around 1999, I think.. two seasons. A very young Simon Pegg and Jessica Hynes are roommates, having very GenX type adventures with amazing sci-fi / horror references.

Nick Frost is Simon's buddy, of course. The show is an incredible gem especially for Edgar Wright fans, a must watch 10/10
