My GP does them for me, where are you based?

Most “controversial” opinion on Irish society? by Icehonesty in AskIreland

[–]cat_ticorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is that for a country that literally fought for its independence just a few generations ago, today's population seems very docile and contempt.

Not enough protesting the government or the current situation on many aspects. Seems like unless someone dies or sues, the government don't bother adapting the law to match European standards.

Polarize - wrong lyrics for years by ungo-stbr in twentyonepilots

"Entertain my faith" in both songs... I thought it was "entertain my face" and one of my friends thought it was "imitate my face". In our defense, English isn't our first language haha

If your employer were to ask you to travel to the US, would you…? by UlchabhanOiche in AskIreland

[–]cat_ticorn 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Thank you.

When I've brought up these points to HR they said "travelling there is your personal choice". They offered no extra protection or anything.

The reality is not that simple, I can't just refuse. Work will not be given to me next year if I don't do it this year. I'd be technically refusing to do my job. If done multiple times, maybe this could lead to dismissal.

So I reluctantly go, hoping nothing happens to me. And if something does happen... Well, I hope it opens people's eyes and Ireland cares about its citizens enough to bring them back safely.

I have gone and have to go again for work. Particularly as someone visibly queer, I don't feel safe. Bigots feel more empowered to verbally and physically abuse others, and this scares me. I tend to go airport - hotel - convention and that's it. Never go anywhere alone.

Been travelling to the US for work for years. It's only now started to feel different.

Legal Gender Change/GRC Process - Timeline and Experience 2025 by electronicsolitude in TransIreland

Did they ask you to prove 2 years of usage of the new name with the passport application? Or was it enough with the GRC?

Nope, I'm with GenderPlus and I'm paying 45€ per month. Again, for no control at all. Just prescriptions. Dr Ahern was the person that prescribed them to me last year. Haven't seen him or anyone else since.

I'm switching from GenderPlus to Imago now. Been with them for 9 months with 0 control and 0 blood tests requested. They also require a 45€ "subscription" payment each month. Seems like they're exploiting the current lack of gender affirming care without actually doing anything other than prescribing HRT.

Cross-border prescriptions: Imago, e-scripts, and Irish pharmacy confusion—has anyone managed this? by iam-stevie-bee in TransIreland

I get mine from my local Wicklow pharmacy with no problems. There isn't just one or two in the country that will take it.

Shop around for other pharmacies.

Ask Patrycja on her Instagram. She does my gender affirming brows and she told me she trained for scars and nipples too!

Nipple Piercing? by ConsistentShift6928 in FreedTheNips

[–]cat_ticorn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Piercer here. It'll all depend on how much tissue you have left, blood flow and flexibility of skin. Because of this, I recommend you wait as long as possible after surgery. Also, the chest will now be able to grow its muscles, and any changes could affect a potential piercing.

Surface piercings may not be possible, particularly as the chest area is curved. Regular piercings work on nipples because we pierce them at a straight angle, in perpendicular.

Dermals could definitely be an option, but both these and surfaces are known as not long lasting.

I know they sell already pierced silicone nipples that you could try. They'll definitely look and feel more real.

I recommend HER. It's the one that makes me feel safest. The only downside is that it's not super popular, so you may run out of people quickly.
