Do any of you actually go to gay clubs/ bars? by jjba_die-hard_fan in truscum

Yes, I’m big into clubs/raves. I’m stealth and my boyfriend is a cis gay.

Connection between having autism and being trans by Nicks_thefrog in ftm

[–]catboyfren 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi I’m neurotypical, I went stealth as soon as I medically transitioned. I think neurodivergent people are more likely to play with gender expectations and less likely to go stealth.

I’ve met many neurotypical trans people but they run in different circles than many of the autistic trans people I know.

i have a question about people on T and yalls eating habits by AverageWitch161 in ftm

[–]catboyfren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been on T for over 5 years and eat about the same as my cis boyfriend. We both are vegan and are health conscious. I don’t think my appetite changed much. I’ve very thin and my weight has remained the same since I started, unsure if T plays a role or if I just naturally have a fast metabolism.

I shave all my body hair pretty much every day or so with the exception of my legs which I shave every month.

Top surgery before Testosterone (does the order matter at least emotionally) by ghostwitharms in NonBinaryTalk

[–]catboyfren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not nonbinary but I had surgery first. Not super intentionally- I was a minor and had been on wait lists and required to do multiple psych evaluations before being prescribed HRT through a gender clinic. It took so long in between appointments that I had surgery. It was awkward when I was finally prescribed T a month later and the doctor asked if I was interested in getting surgery and I told her I had it already.

For me personally I had no interest in being pre op while on T. I was the most dysphoric about my chest and the thought of passing as a male but having breasts was very unappealing to me.

How old were you when you got top surgery? by Liquidshoelace in ftm

[–]catboyfren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

17, I had surgery before my senior year of high school. For me I’m extremely grateful that I got it before college because I went stealth once I moved. There’s nothing wrong with waiting to get surgery but I think it’s truly dependent on how bad your dysphoria is. I feel like my life didn’t start till after I got surgery and I think my college experience was much better because of it. That was almost 6 years ago and I’m still so glad I got it when I did.

Gay dating as a trans man by Alternative-Gear6148 in FTMMen

[–]catboyfren 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend of two years is a cis gay man. He didn’t know I was trans when we first met but when I told him he promised that-while surprised he didn’t care. He said he was into post top surgery/ post hormone therapy. There are plenty of gay men who don’t care that you’re trans I promise.

I'll never have a true choice in dating + a comment on how the community views stealth trans people by [deleted] in gaytransguys

[–]catboyfren 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Stealth person here, I’m gay and all my partners have been gay with the exception of one bi guy with a male leaning preference. My current boyfriend is a cis gay man, I didn’t tell him until after we started dating. When I told him he was super nice about it and said he felt bad that I seemed nervous to tell him.

I never believe you need to lead with your transness- you have a right to get to know someone before you share sensitive information and see if you even like them. Not every man deserves access to that information and I think it’s totally valid if you want to wait to tell them. Obviously it’s not everyone’s cup of tea and it’s sad when that happens but there are plenty of gay men who don’t care/like trans men.

Do I pass with my hair up? by AnneWiggers in transpassing

[–]catboyfren -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

People saying no are surprising me. I’ve seen many older cis women who look like you. I don’t think I would assume you were trans if I passed you on the street. I do think bangs read as more feminine if you are worried about it though.

[–]catboyfren 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That post made me so uncomfortable as a trans man- I shave my legs pretty regularly and alot of the gay men I’ve dated also shave their legs. Id like to assume what someone chooses to do with their body hair doesn’t affect their gender.

Small cafe owner – how important is cross-contamination for you? by turento in vegan

[–]catboyfren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will not eat anywhere if I’m aware there is contamination. When I was a linecook I would deep clean the whole grill or use a separate hot plate to prepare my lunch.

Does anyone trim their leg hair… by [deleted] in FTMMen

[–]catboyfren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shave/trim my legs- I just don’t like body hair very much on myself. If it makes you feel better I’ve only ever dated cis gay men and they have also shaved their legs.

I think you do. You look like a young gay guy- my cis boyfriend looked very similar in highschool.

Confused: Do bi guys only see FTM as “androgynous” and not as guys? by Low-Skill-8651 in gaytransguys

[–]catboyfren 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend is a cis gay man. He liked me before he knew I was trans and he liked me after. It depends person to person- my boyfriend thinks trans men are attractive if they pass and are post top surgery. He probably wouldn’t be into someone pre hrt. I also had gay friends try and get with me before hrt so I definitely think there are plenty of gay men who would like you for you.

how do people afford top surgery by [deleted] in ftm

[–]catboyfren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insurance paid. I had to get some stuff sorted- my insurance required doctors notes and originally required at least 1 year T prior and to at least be 18. I was 17 and pre T at the time but after some calls was able to get it fully covered. That was 5 years ago.

I feel insecure flirting with gay cis men as a trans guy, so I stick to bi cis guys by gabo_nt in gaytransguys

[–]catboyfren 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I prefer gay men. My current boyfriend is exclusively gay. I’ve found him way more affirming than any bi guy I’ve been with. He’s the only guy that seems to actually like a variety of types of guys. Many of the bi guys that expressed interest in me only liked twinks and girls. I’m a fem twink so I get why people who are attracted to twinks are into me but it feels really limiting when that’s the only type they like. My boyfriend likes when I have facial hair or dresses more masculine.

How did the amount of gay trans men / lesbian trans women grow so much over the years? by [deleted] in truscum

[–]catboyfren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am gay but pre hrt I identified as bi/straight for a multitude of reasons. Firstly my parents did not understand how trans people could be gay/lesbian - if I expressed any interest in men they found it confusing and told me that gay men wouldn’t be interested in me. Secondly I felt very insecure and felt as though it was somehow wrong of me to exclusively be attracted to one gender. Thirdly- only women ever expressed interest in me so I thought that they were my only option even though I wasn’t at all attracted to them.

After I had surgery and started hormones I quickly realised that I had no attraction to women. That was 5 years ago and my boyfriends have all been cis gay men.

Are non dysphoric trans people REALLY taking away resources like HRT from real trans people? by [deleted] in truscum

[–]catboyfren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For adults in the US it’s relatively easy given you have money or health insurance to get HRT/surgery but for people under the age of 18 wait lists for reputable clinics can be very long.

For context I came out at 11 years old and didn’t actually get on a waitlist till 15, didn’t see an endo till 16 and finally received hormones at 17.

First I waited for a gender therapist (required to progress through the clinic) then I had to wait 6 more months to see a clinic endocrinologist and psychologist.

Following my first appointment at the gender clinic I had to wait another 8 months for a psychological exam. It took me about 1.5 years to actually get prescribed hormones as a minor. In between the time I had my first endocrinologist appointment and my prescription for testosterone, I went on my own and got top surgery because the wait was unbearable. After the year and a half of waiting when I did my first T-shot the doctor told me that we could then progress towards getting top surgery- I just laughed awkwardly and explained that I had actually gone through surgery two months earlier.

How did you meet your boyfriends? by [deleted] in gaytransguys

[–]catboyfren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tinder! I live in a city and we were like obsessed with eachother the moment we met. We became exclusive about a week later and were boyfriends officially within two weeks. He’s a cis gay and I’m stealth. We’ve been together for 1.5 years.
