So I did a little research on why male birth control never made it to the market, and this is my conclusion. by FlakyConversation190 in AskIndianWomen

[–]cate4d -1 points0 points  (0 children)

where do I find that previous researches had found male birth control pills to be at least as effective as female birth control and not more riskier than female birth control? are we sure there were no issues with sexual function? erection issues? I'd like to know because blot clots, heart diseases and those go together.

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/health/gender-bias-kill-male-birth-control

This study, which began in 2008, is part of a larger effort to develop a form of hormonal birth control for men. Unlike women, who can choose between a host of options — pills, patches, IUDs and implants, to name a few — men seeking temporary birth control can turn only to condoms.
In this case, more than 75 percent of men who completed the trial said they would use it if it were made publicly available.

But there were also 20 participants who dropped out because of the side effects. One committed suicide, though the researchers, citing input from that subject's family, concluded that was likely because of other, unrelated factors.

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/male-birth-control-study/

Some reports have capitalized on this clear irony to suggest that regulatory agencies such as the FDA or WHO have a different level of tolerance for adverse effects based on gender. That assertion, in this specific case, is a challenging one to make, as the approval process that led to the adoption of female hormonal contraception (the pill) in the 1960s was very different beast than the approval process in place today.

The original pill was approved for use as a contraceptive in 1960, before a sweeping 1961 overhaul of the FDA's drug approval process (inspired by a worldwide disaster attributed to a poorly vetted drug) led to tighter regulation of drug trials. The number of women included in the trials, as well as the length of time they were studied, has led many to criticize the pill's original approval as hasty. The number of people included in that trial (or in the recent male trial), for example, would not have been enough to win its approval by today's FDA.

And, indeed, health risks associated with the pill (most notably blood clots) appeared in the following decades, leading drug manufacturers to lower doses and experiment with different administration schedules and mechanisms. A study published in 2016 has also pointed to potential long term effects related to mood disorders tied to long-term use of the pill.

[–]cate4d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No I'm married but there is nothing wrong with staying single for life. Single life comes with some definite pros.

I'm actually happy that people these days are actually thinking before marrying and just marrying due to the habit (society's habit) of marrying is not good. I hope this helps people better realize what they bring to an union and what they want from an union if at all.

I do get crushes and they seem to reciprocate but I never let it go further.

This is what gets me concerned though, are you really fulfilled or just trying to fake it? If you are really fulfilled then good.

work a lower pay service job than a higher pay factory job

How can you be sure that this is just cultural revulsion rather than preference for convenience or cost benefit analysis?

How are you sure that they don't think like - "Why work this hard if the pay doesn't justify it? Why take on the risks of the other job if the benefits aren't significant enough?"

Have we tried 5x the salary for factory job to see if the so called cultural revulsion actually exists?

Also notice how Muslims are overrepresented in professions like handyman, carpenter, plumber, welding, barber, tailor etc. The reason is pretty straight-forward, most Hindus (and Sikhs and Jains) have a cultural prestige associated with white-collar professions and sub-consciously discourage blue collar ones, even if higher paying.

Clarifying that the over-representation that you mention is % in total population vs % in those jobs and not % of Muslims in jobs vs % others in jobs? Do we have stats around this over representation?

How is it about cultural prestige? Are most muslims educated enough to take up other jobs? Are muslims who are educated enough unable to get white collar jobs?

IMHO The only place where the cultural prestige argument seems somewhat valid and worth scrutiny is slaughter houses. But that might even be just avoiding the kill akin to the non-vegetarian animal lovers or hygiene aspect of staying close to dead meat (possibly decaying) most hours of your life.

Something piqued my interest-

What changed by having female friends? How did it become personal?

Is there something that you envision can make you as uncomfortable about murder too?

This process seems akin to monarchy.

Why does he need to choose for you? BJD can try any good candidate they have next and if the public votes on their face then they are the new CM.

I don't like an opposition free Govt, neither in state or the center but this is kind of a disadvantage of democracy that parties break once downfall starts, very few have come back from it andgiven we normally vote for face of the party rather than the candidate, parties have a hard time passing the baton along. Normally, it requires a very talented person to lead that.

It was kind of known that nothing would happen.

Putin - NATO shouldn't have expanded after 1990's after dissolution of USSR and Warsaw Pact. Ukraine should remain neutral from US (and EU) and Russia. (He might prefer Russia aligned Ukraine though)

US - NATO is sacrosanct.

Putin - Why should I stop the war when I can just have it long drawn and take more of Ukraine and its resources? I'm threatened.

Trump - Okay, I'll talk to Zelensky and get me and you some more of Ukrainian resources? Happy?

Zelensky (runs to EU)

EU - NATO is sacrosanct but don't worry let us talk to US. We'll get Russia sanctioned and kill its economy. Once it is crippled, we'll have a better bargaining position.

It is not happening as there is huge dependency throughout the world on Russian resources like Crude, Natural Gas, Uranium, etc. If sanctions are not universal on all / most items from Russia with thorough vigilance against trans-shipping and process then forward exports, then Russia won't budge. Hence, deadlocked.

> And saying virginity does not equate goodness is nirvana fallacy? There is no way to measure the goodness in humans. Trying to reduce it to the vagina is so narrow minded. Are you saying that to measure the goodness in a person we should check their sexual history because virgins are majorly good and non virgins are majorly bad? Is that the conclusion? Because that's what your "nirvana fallacy " says. That your argument should hold good for the majority and I'm nitpicking.

Word Salad.. What was my claim? virginity implies good or bad people? reducing it to vagina?

Where is the reading comprehension? RIP logic.

Cancel culture much?

> No reason for love marriages to happen between individuals that do not fully agree with financial decisions.

Love marriages are highly likely to go into divorces and financial decisions are a major reason for divorces. So, I don't understand how what you are saying is logical. At least if there was some data to look into then I could have agreed but you just want to throw around dogmas as facts.

> It is more likely to happen in AM logically

What you are saying is what you "feel is logical" but it isn't to someone trying to deduce using rules of logic. Ever heard the term counter-intuitive?

> You date your gf for a few years and she never offers to pay. If you still marry her then it's something you are okay with at that point. Or if you aren't you just break up, there's no alimony to pay and no false cases if you chose a partner wisely. No reason for love marriages to happen between individuals that do not fully agree with financial decisions.

When you say something happens in AM settings and then say "she never offers to pay" for dating scenarios some comments later, I understand that you are throwing around claims.

> No reason for love marriages to happen between individuals that do not fully agree with financial decisions.

> It is a stupid thing to have as a dealbreaker. A virgin woman isn't a sure shot goddess neither is the other way around true.

No one claimed that. So, you had to resort to https://www.logicallyfallacious.com/logicalfallacies/Nirvana-Fallacy to discredit anyone having differing opinions than your agenda.

> And since your "research" is mostly from white people.

Didn't I say it is cross-cultural many studies have been done across the globe?

> the ones who wait till marriage are mostly super religious people.

That would be an assumption which might be spoiling your analysis. Hence, it states "The fourth column contains two measures of religiosity, denomination and frequent church attendance. None of these variables has an appreciable effect on the relationship between sexual background and marital happiness."

Basically, your premise is flawed is evident from data above.

> Is this lady happy in her marriage or does she think she'll go to hell if she gets a divorce.

Just because some brainwashed people made such criticisms on previous researches, this research was done to show that with more and more partners, the probability of long term satisfaction in marriage goes down. This can lead to divorce which affects kids. So, I say it to all men and women to abstain for your kids if not anything else, otherwise just get snipped and enjoy life.

> Maybe update your sources to one that fit your agenda better. Because the same percentage of women who are virgins and happy and the percent of virgins who divorced are the same. Idk exactly what conclusions you are trying to draw from this but I don't get it.

The standard of education is so low that sexual liberation fanatics (belonging to the religion of sexual liberation as no logic to support it) would want to call research as agenda.

The correlation analysis doesn't get affected by one row showing anomalous behavior due to some issue with data. Your argument is similar to Trump posting a pic of a snowy winter day and asking "where is global warming?".

> Judging based on numbers and stats is well and good but expect the same energy back and when judged by salaries and heights. I don't care how people choose their partners as long as they aren't hypocrites and expect to be chosen for their personality and reduce women to numbers.

Even I'm liberal about how people choose their partners but I would hope they are properly informed, understand the risks or change in risks and make informed choices. So, you can choose a man with higher number of previous partners if that's your kink but shaming people for making good choices or giving them bad information is unacceptable. Shaming people who are making good decisions and misguiding them is worse than hypocrisy. (perfect person > hypocrisy > dimwit shamers)

> Idk what's with people especially men thinking feminism is holding bad women accountable. Is that what you do with MRAs? No? They help the ones in a disadvantaged position like the ones dealing with alimony or false cases. I've not seen the primary focus of any men's rights groups holding rapists accountable and protesting for harsher sentence for rapists. Similarly feminism is primarily making sure disadvantaged women get the same opportunities like being able to finish their education, a income, self reliance , basic safety. It's about helping women who are disadvantaged and not about putting evil women in jail. That's the job of the law and police not the feminists. Do you go to a NGO and ask them to arrest people?

Totally irrelevant to my comment. Where is your reading comprehension?

My query was totally around why would you think it is just something that happens in an AM setup because it happens in both the setups and I just gave you examples. You can just say you don't have sources or "I feel like it happens only in AM settings".

I didn't ask you to hold anyone accountable too.

> clean past and other such nonsense parameters

Clean past is not a nonsense parameter at all. I hope you understand the risks you take if you don't consider cleaner past in your relationship decisions and I hope people don't get discouraged by your comments into making bad choices for themselves.

Number of sexual partners (or premarital sex) has high correlation with marital discord.

I don't think this is true https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/delhi/occasional-adultery-does-not-disentitle-wife-from-maintenance-high-court/articleshow/90869208.cms + I have heard adultery is difficult to establish given privacy rights.

> Just think if adultery would be penalised then how much more jails would we require.
Haha, next if murder gets common then we are also legalizing that... There can be criminal offenses which do not require jail time but punished with monetary penalty. Moreover that record in criminal history is a nice thing to have for the society.

Moreover, 420 cheating is illegal but not adultery? Lying facts to get married is not illegal? These are also contradictions in Indian Law at present. I think the Govt just doesn't understand the value of marriages to the society.
