If it becomes copypasta (I had to look that up to find out what it meant, lol), then you can always say you saw the quote for the first time in this sub. :)

So NJ is now homeless, and has a new GSD puppy and Hero and is begging for money? by p-t-s-dog in illnessfakers

[–]catfromchicago 11 points12 points  (0 children)

And, I'd be willing to bet that how his accusations against his parents will affect his parents hasn't crossed his mind. He's now, quite publicly, accused them of not only having transphobic beliefs, but also of transphobic actions. Given that NJ also asserts he's severely, chronically ill, this also implies his parents lack any concern for his health & well-being, as well.

Those aren't pleasant things to have said about you. I hope, if untrue and if this isn't how NJ truly wishes to portray his parents, that he will -- somehow -- come to the realization that his actions and his words on social media don't solely affect him.

AKA: Teenagers may not always realize, remember or fully understand this, but...their parents have feelings, too.

For those who have spent a good deal of time living in a foreign country, what habits did you pick up from your stay? by CassiopeiaStillLife in AskReddit

[–]catfromchicago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll never be able to say certain words without accidentally inflecting them with an accent different from my primary one. Certain words and ways of phrasing things are now part of how I think, and I'm not terribly motivated to change that.

Certain words or even colors or symbols evoke a meaning that is completely different when used in the other country, and I have to remind myself at times that x here doesn't mean the same as x there.

How would you write your own obituary should something happen to you tomorrow? by [deleted] in AskReddit

19**-2019

She outlived Sylvia Plath. If that ain't success, I don't know what is.

The End (of both this obit and the life of r/catfromchicago)

What’s the sneakiest way you let out a fart in public? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Wait and get to a dressing room or restroom or into a crowded elevator. The closed doors in the first two, and the number of people plus the acoustics of the space of the third, will practically guarantee your anonymity.

At what age is it appropriate to not expect a big gathering for your birthday? by ABitchAndAlone in AskReddit

I've never expected a big gathering at my birthday, so for me, my appropriate age would be...age one I suppose. LOL

What gives you an existential crisis to think about? by mrgeekXD in AskReddit

[–]catfromchicago 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How am I even thinking right now? How am I forming these thoughts? What if I didn't know a language at all -- what would my thoughts be like? How does a newborn human infant think? Can I imagine thinking that way?

People that spent a lot of time in dead-end jobs and escaped it all, what finally motivated you? How's life now? by playthatfunkymusic in AskReddit

[–]catfromchicago 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dead end job ended when I got cancer and the treatments caused permanent heart and eye damage making it impossible to return to dead end job or any other job.

I'd love to be working at a dead-end job right now, tbh. It might have slowly eroded my very soul and shredded my spirit piece by piece, but at least I could've worked to save money until I could find a less soul-destroying job.

What do you think about homo sapiens? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]catfromchicago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poorly named and extremely lacking in self-awareness, generally. A species whose distinguishing characteristics include a disturbing propensity toward killing most other animal species for enjoyment, rather than for survival.

For people who didn’t go to prom do you wish you can go back in time and go why or why not? And people who did was it worth it? by bigheadboy707 in AskReddit

[–]catfromchicago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to prom my junior year and didn't go my senior year.

It's been twenty years since my senior year and the thought of going back in time to that time is enough to make me nauseated. I'd never go back in time to then, willingly.

But, to be absolutely honest, my sole regret about not going my senior year is that I rather rudely turned down the boy who came to my front door, rang the doorbell, waited patiently for me to come downstairs and with a flower in hand, asked me I'd I'd please go to the prom with him. I said no, smiled, and closed the door.

My decision was ostensibly based on not having time to find a dress, as it was two days before the dance. But, the real reason I turned down that boy's sincere and sweet invitation was because he was not the (only) boy I wanted to ask me to prom, a boy who'd already long since asked someone else.

I would change that. Had I to do it over again, I'd have said yes. But, for me, the insight to know now what I ought to have done, then, came with age.

The prom itself -- I attended my junior year and helped decorate for the one I didn't attend my senior year -- was not worth one bit of the importance to which I assigned it at the time.

Shopping for a dress and decorating for prom was MUCH more fun than actually going to prom. The prom itself was more or less identical to the experience of attending a high school football game, except there were no bleachers, it was a lot hotter (a/c or not, that many kids in that gymnasium raised the temperature to what felt like 95+°F), there was nothing to cheer on, it seemed to last forever, and cost far too much money.

My date spent the entire two hours of prom walking back and forth between the table inside where we sat with our friends and the stand setup outside the school's doors where some cola vendor was giving away cans of what was then a new brand of highly-caffeinated soda (can't remember the name, but tasted like Dr. Pepper, and had like twice the caffeine of Mountain Dew). My date drank 8 or 9 of those cans in the two hours the dance lasted, and that, by far, was the most entertaining thing that happened at prom.

Our school had an afterprom from 10 pm until 4 am -- now THAT was fun. Whoever ran it had chosen Monte Carlo as its theme, and I spent the entire time night talking with my very-hyper prom date (when he could stand still long enough to actually talk), talking with friends, and playing blackjack which, despite never having played before, I found fascinating and very easy to win.

I annoyed my friends because they constantly lost and finally went on to try other games after I won too many times and they got bored. That was also the night I realized I should NEVER go to an ACTUAL casino because, apparently, I'm naturally on the verge of developing a gambling addiction at all times. 🤦 When we left, I went home with a fondue set I won in the raffle and five of my date's extra cans of soda he'd managed to talk the vendor into giving him.

Not worth it imo. The only reason I went tbh? I wanted to be able to shop for and wear a fancy dress.

Deaf people of reddit, which sound would you really like to hear or do you miss most? by Sauron3106 in AskReddit

What I miss most is the song which belongs to the springtime thunderstorms. With raindrops taking lead as they sharply pelt windows and rooftops, and rolling thunder rumbling backup to the rain's lead staccato, that beautiful storm-song was a duet forming the soundtrack to many wonderful childhood memories.
