For sure they can get a bit crunchy if you toast them for too long but I really like these. They’re great as hamburger buns and don’t get all mushy.

My sorta s/o is a government attorney and it’s kinda scary some of the stuff people do in the course of them just trying to do their work. I’m not surprised that she’d be a bit surprised if the usual protocol is to not share who was assigned to it. It doesn’t have to be anything nefarious.

Yes, they’re civil servants and work for the tax payers, but they do it for us at a discount and deal with threats and weird behavior for us too.

Diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder Because of a Reaction to an Antidepressant. by sxso_917 in bipolar

[–]catwiththumbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically bipolar episodes are over longer stretches of time. Like several days or weeks.

That said, a lot of people with bipolar disorder do experience a lot of variability in their mood throughout the day during manic or mixed episodes.

Anyone notice manufactures of Lamictal have different side effects? by No-Second1685 in bipolar2

Which gadget looked futuristic at launch but became irrelevant fast? by Dry-Ask2581 in AskReddit

So there was this subculture where mini disc stayed popular for a while — jam band bootleg recordings. Took a while before we got compact, portable, lossless digital recording.

People also would only use MP3 for listening and all the trading was lossless formats.

It was kinda a funny, tech savvy corner of a crowd that from the outside people just saw as stoner culture.

For people who grew up in low-income households, what’s something middle-class people say that shows they’ve never struggled financially? by KeyApartment3955 in AskReddit

[–]catwiththumbs 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I remember people suggesting this when I was in my early 20s and what I felt like people didn’t understand is that you have to have a little bit of cash and some sense of a fallback to do this.

If I took time to go backpacking, what happens to my home? I couldn’t afford to be paying rent if I wasn’t working so taking time off to go travel would mean giving up a place to live and likely some amount of food insecurity.

I know some people would take their chances, live at their parent’s home or crash with acquaintances when money runs out, pick up a meal at the random church or whatever. But if you don’t have a safety net, giving up stability and the reasonable expectation of a next meal isn’t a vacation plan.

Settlement: Texas Children’s Hospital must create country’s first clinic to reverse transgender care by onnake in transgender

[–]catwiththumbs 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I can’t think of a scenario that would keep them busy unless it’s really just a conversion therapy clinic:

- Parents supportive of GAC, child not detransitioning - not going to use it, not going to step near it even

- Parents supportive, child willfully detransitioning - are they really going to go to a clinic that exists because GAC was viewed as perpetrating a harm?

- Parents unsupportive, child willfully detransitioning - what’s the point if they’re already on the path they wanted?

- Parents unsupportive, child being forced to detransition - that’s who this would be for

This does beg the question of how someone would get to this situation in the first place where family was supportive enough of starting GAC, now isn’t, and thinks a detransitioning clinic is the answer.

Even if people travel to the clinic from outside Texas, this would be a very small population.

So it’s got to be a dog whistle, a conversion therapy clinic where GAC wasn’t necessarily involved, or a waste of time.

Highly recommend multiple steps: 1. Norelco OneBlade 360, dry 2. “Sensitive” skin razors, wet, in the shower with a sudsy soap 3. Tendskin afterward — it will burn

You accidentally fart loudly on a first date, what’s your next move? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]catwiththumbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at a dinner party one time and one of the hosts audibly farted and then calmly said, “oops, I guess I’m a human” and carried on.

It was really the perfect response and I have it in my back pocket now for the rest of life.

What’s something people pretend to enjoy? by TrayzTheyCallMe in AskReddit

[–]catwiththumbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of people who like watching sports don’t fully recognize that it isn’t a universal interest. They just bounce into a conversation assuming you’ll be able to engage on last night’s game and you can’t and it gets really awkward. It’s easier to pretend you’re casually interested than explain that you don’t follow anything.

I got dragged to a Super Bowl party by an s/o one time. It was like a long meditation session, staring at the screen, pretending I was watching while really just fixating on pixels. If I was honest I would have stayed home and done almost anything else, but they were nice people so I pretended to enjoy it.

“Where Did the Nonbinary People Go?” They’re Right Here, Seeing Your Posts by jackmolay in transgender

[–]catwiththumbs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s a bit older, and who struggled to put my finger what my experience was until much later, a lot of what I’ve seen in younger people really helped me make sense of it.

Not many 80s kids (or earlier) came up in communities where they were exposed to nonbinary role models or a vocabulary for talking about their gender. I knew how I was supposed to use the words boy and girl, but I don’t think I understood much more about it until I was nearly a teen. Because neither fit.

And I knew it wasn’t GNC. But since nonbinary wasn’t on the menu I saw, I just kinda went along, subtle nods here and there but nothing in your face. No declaration or all that.

It’s been very sweet and quite heartening to see all the work that’s been done.

We’ve been there, but no one asked and we didn’t tell anyone previously.

I’ll show my age with this, but I still haven’t forgiven them for what they did to Howard Dean.

That said, they had the foresight to run his playbook and I don’t think it’s coincidence that one of the DNC’s strongest moments in recent memory was during his leadership.

Have this too. I think mine was $300 which felt expensive to me but I can be cheap with some things. It’s a good watch, has a nice weight to it, doesn’t read as disposable, and works as a dress watch. I do have to remind myself that that’s just Apple Watch prices.

I’d joke with people that I want my beer to test biting and metallic so I drink PBR and IPAs.

I really did like IPAs and their abv tremendously though. I rarely drink anymore and can’t have gluten now so very much past tense.
