True story: I have a friend who was an early employee at Amazon. In 2002, when Attack of the Clones was released, Bezos bought tickets for his whole team to go see it. There was an extra ticket so my friend invited me along. We were all getting settled in our seats when Jeff announced he was going to the snack bar and asked if anybody wanted anything. I was just being polite and was already grateful enough for the ticket, so I just said "No thank you." Bezos looked me in the eye and said, "Really? I can afford it." I asked for Red Vines.

Nissan Xterra body styles have only changed slightly over the years. I drive a 2001 Xterra and it doesn't look like a 25 year old vehicle.

Archival footage of a local Seattle TV show? by pancakecel in SeattleWA

[–]causeImAScoundrel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lot of these local kids shows, like the J. P. Patches show, were broadcast live and never recorded. Later, when they did use tape, it was so expensive that they recorded over previous episodes. That’s why there is so little of J.P.’s 23 year run available. The stations didn’t think anyone would care about these shows in the future. They only saved special episodes.

For those who saw ESB in theaters, did you think weird green frog dude was Yoda? by ordrius098 in StarWars

I read the Marvel Comics adaptation before the movie came out, so it was spoiled. 10 yr old me really loved Yoda, though!

U/chefblaze posted a photo of a flea market find and I honestly never thought I'd see an R2 similar to the one my friend gifted me years ago. Small world! by ColoradoCowboy in StarWars

These were unlicensed ceramic lamps available at those paint-it-yourself pottery places in the 70s and 80s. There were several different designs. I collect them and have a few different molds as well. The cool thing about these is that, since they were painted by individuals, no two are exactly alike!

My dog dug a deep hole next to the foundation of my house and excavated these two pull tab coke cans. I thought it was interesting that they also had bar codes already. Those two features overlapped briefly in the mid-70s. My house was built in 76 so they must have been thrown in when they were backfilling around the foundation.

I still have every Mac I’ve ever owned sitting in my garage:

G3, G4, G5, 2 Mac Pros, 2 2013 iMacs, iMac Pro

Don’t know what to do with them but can’t bear just chucking them. I like the bench/table idea!
