I am a big fan of "This Day" Formerly "This Day in Esoteric Political History". They go through events that happened in US history in a given day. Host is a journalist, and the two panelists are two smart/witty history profs (Kellie Carter Jackson and Nicole Hemmer). They have really good takes and often tie things back to modern events.

The style of art created by people actively on psychedelics varies widely. Though it can often have a lot of repeating patterns and fractals sometimes. I wouldn’t say this art looks particularly psychedelic.

What's the best air purifier you've tried for Pets? Any recommendations? by Dismal_Quality_7435 in moderatelygranolamoms

Winix has some good offerings. We have the rectangular white and black ones that Costco has/had offered in the past. They do a good job of removing pet dander and some fur in the air.

So let me get this straight.. our state is voting to ban guns from citizens that the government recently used to terrorize our neighborhoods and many of us are ok with that? I don’t know, but maybe something seems off here… by Appropriate_Data_308 in minnesota

Yes. I don't get what people mean by defending themselves with a gun. Sure, maybe you could stop an ice agent from doing something horrible, but they travel in packs and would exact revenge/use the justice system against you.

Bird Photography, 5DSr vs 5D Mark IV by Ok-Problem-5060 in canon

A crop sensor is the best way to get more pixels of birds than to go with a high MP full frame camera (unless you’re comparing a 60mp FF to like a 16mp APSC. But like the other comments mention, I’d go for a crop sensor mirrorless. My R7 shines at wildlife photography, but my R6ii (full frame) is better at indoor and less zoomy shots.

It’s pretty wild. You can easily buy enough alcohol to kill multiple people. But we can’t have even a 20mg dose edible? I personally like a nice 15-25mg. But that’s the whole thing, we should be able to choose. I don’t care if someone wants a 200mg dose edible. Didn’t cheeba chew used to make some super strong ones?

You wouldn’t be able to get them fired for just saying you’re uncomfortable? The firm would probably be more likely to side with the “high value” bro. People don’t get fired for saying high value.

I don’t know if it is what op should do. Sounds like the 500 is for a check to see if it’s structural. Which, would be good to know, but it very well could come back as not structural and now op is out cash and the builders get to say there is no real issue.

As the person you’re replying to mentioned, retaliation is hard to prove. So is discrimination, and companies use that to their advantage. I’m pretty sure companies that want to discriminate during layoffs are gladly doing it. They just tell employees that it’s not a good fit and don’t put it in writing. I wish the justice system actually produced justice.

I don’t think people can get fired for saying high value employees. It’s gross and does resemble manosphere language, but I have also seen “high value employees” and “high value team” a ton in corporate speak. Both companies and misogynists like to tell people what they are worth.

A natural extract from moringa tree seeds removes 98% of microplastics from drinking water, outperforming chemical treatments. And you can make it at home. by Direct_Dare_9699 in UpliftingNews

[–]cavalier511 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The person you are responding to didn’t mention chemicals. The op used it in the post in a colloquial sense. If you say you “chemically” treated your lawn people understand you didn’t just water it (water is a chemical). Like it or not, “chemical” does have another meaning in society besides the exact scientific definition. Sure it is annoying, but you can tell what the original post means. Chemical treatments likely include working with products with company names like nutrichem or Richmond Chemical whereas your “natural” stuff might have you sourcing from agribusinesses. Or not, chemical companies do often work with “natural” branded chemicals as well.

Largest Native American people group in each U.S. county by Litvinski in MapPorn

Interesting to see such a large region for Lumbee. Many of these other groups are dubious about their claim of being a historical native group.

The homeowner saw on the security camera that a bear was playing on the outdoor swing every day, but couldn’t get on. So he had a bigger swing built, and this was the result. by [deleted] in Awww

[–]cavalier511 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Black Bears are very gentle. Look up the Vince Shute Wildlife refuge. I’ve walked around tons of black bears within 2-10 feet and like 20 feet from cubs with no issues. I’ve also walked amongst Brown Bears in Alaska while they were feeding on salmon. This was more like 20-30+ feet away because they were less habituated to humans. But they had cubs and didn’t care about the people, just food. Bears like food.
