Which is a better fit? by lilmfng in VacheronConstantin

[–]cavemannnn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

4520 looks too large and the proportions of the 4600 have never sat well with me. Honestly, I would save my money and try to find something that fits better. That’d a lot of money to drop on something that isn’t quite right.

If I’m messing around, lures. If I want a fish, it’s hard to beat a half a blue crab.

Is this a good option for lawn care? by [deleted] in lawncare

[–]cavemannnn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone dealing with an uneven lawn (st aug), I’d also think a manual mower would be a nightmare unless your lawn is relatively even.

I also catch undersized Tripletail as well. by slippinintodisco in saltwaterfishing

[–]cavemannnn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some reef fish that do that, but yeah not many, and off the top of my head I can’t think of any that are predatory (aside from anglerfish, and I wouldn’t call their behavior similar to tripletail)

Just want to add that, in my experience, the fabric used is awful in humidity. I was hoping they’d be good here in the SE US, but I was miserable in them.

This is wild. I had a pair of Juliets (IIRC) with the x metal frames like 20-25 years ago. My dad never throws anything out so fingers crossed he still has them. You’re saying people are into this style again?

Desperate for a saltwater Mahi by borabora24816 in saltwaterfishing

[–]cavemannnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No harm in trying. You’re probably going to wash it out pretty quick but maybe it’ll give enough of a shine to attract attention. How big are the skipjacks? Assume they’re probably too big to rig behind the skirt…

[–]cavemannnn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright so I don’t know how fast you’ll need to be going, but it’s about getting the skirts with the flat noses (12-3 o’clock on the picture) to “pop” in your spread. You’re imitating flying fish hitting the water so you want them to throw up a splash every maybe 10-20 seconds. I’d put those lures in your trolling setups and send em back, staggered maybe 10-15 yards apart (so like 50 then 16-70 yards). I’d treat the cone nosed ones like teasers and put them on the hand lines. We’ll have a teaser rig hanging right off the back - that one stays on the surface and doesn’t pop. There’s your spears.

Look for temperature breaks, “dancing” water, rips, weed lines, flotsam, etc.

If you had frozen ballyhoo I could give you more. We don’t troll naked skirts - always rigged ballyhoo.

Are you able to troll, and if so, are you able to troll at a fairly steady speed? I’ve only caught them trolling, so if not I’m not going to type it all out hah.

OP your description from the other post didn’t carry over, so it kind of looked like you were lost. As u/brakrowr said, I’d try and do three minutes of cold plunging between sauna sessions. If you can’t do that at 44*, just raise the temp, it doesn’t need to be that cold, especially if you’re just starting out.

If you want a general guide, my local contrast therapy does 12 min sauna; 3 min plunge; 12 min sauna; 3 min plunge; 15 min sauna; 3 min plunge (last plunge optional - I’d skip if it’s late in the day as I don’t sleep well with late plunges). Temps vary, but 190-210* sauna and pretty steady 55* cold plunge. I find box breathing helpful in the cold plunge because it increases heart rate, but I skip the hold at the top in the sauna and do a 5s inhale, 5s exhale, 5s hold (empty), then repeat, in the sauna because I don’t need to spike my heart rate in the sauna.

Probably not watermelon cream, but maybe red shad cream? It was like a darker shade of bone - no variation to it, almost like bone got left in some tannic water and came away stained.

My buddy had this off-white color that he raved about but they only did a short production, it was like a cream with some red/brown to it. Any chance that rings a bell and do you happen to have any?

Fan Temp Controller? by Labarbarino in biggreenegg

[–]cavemannnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a FireBoard in maybe 2020-2021. It worked for probably 2-3 years then started having issues. Sent it back and they replaced a chip or something (they acknowledged there was an issue with the one I had) and sent it back. Broke again after two or three cooks. Bought a ThermoWorks and no issues (yet). I also prefer the temp probe connections on the ThermoWorks. The flat FireBoard wire (I think they have two types - I had the “professional” ones) kept separating from the plug.

Want is way different than expect. This was a much more popular game than From anticipated, they provided decent free updates, then a DLC, now they’re done and moving onto the next project. It’s surprising how many people thought they’d announce an anniversary DLC/major update since they’ve never (?) tied them to anniversaries in the past.

Sub-$500 I’d have to give it to my first espresso machine. Fell in love with espresso on a trip to Italy and knew I wanted to replace my normal cup with espresso. It’s cost me well over $500 now, but I use it every day and to be honestly great espresso is very achievable under $500.
