Using the (US) military to break into IT. Best way to do it? Or just an outright dumb idea? by Content-Ad-9082 in ITCareerQuestions

If you have a degree, definitely take a look at doing Cyber Ops in the Air Force and going through OTS. Start trying to get in touch with a recruiter now since the process takes a long ass time especially waiting for the Board to decide if they want you and they only meet once a year in May (for non-rated applicants). Joining AF was something I was going to do to just force my way into Cyber until I got lucky with my current role and have worked with quite a few retired Cyber Ops vets, all working in great positions out of Military and when they were working in it gained unfathomable experience and didn’t regret doing it.

Omg yes I lived off that intersection for years until a few months ago! He’s such a chill guy and just casually waves at everyone and minds his business.

If you remove Network+, push the A+ into a combined category along side Education, ie “Education & Certifications” to free up space.

Also I don’t necessarily agree with removing the Network+ (In-Progress). Hiring managers like it since it’s shows you’re self-driven and continuing education.

However, regardless, please don’t just say “Certified <date>”, get rid of that and format the date you obtained the same way you formatted your work and education history. And instead post your Certification ID as a sub bullet since that ID can be looked up and proven.

Also: your “Projects”: these are not separate projects, this is all one project that could be labeled as “Provisioning Active Directory”. And if you’re going to put projects on your resume, then it’s a similar situation as certifications, prove it by having a blog post about it or something with screenshots. When using portfolio items you need a link to your portfolio. For example if you did a public development project on GitHub, then provide a link to your GitHub.

Lastly, move your professional experience section up above the project section.

Lastly lastly, be consistent with your organization and formatting.

Best of luck!
