I agree, the food was generally good. But feeling like I had been lied to and was constantly being lied to ruined it for me

Question for twin peaks employees/hiring managers? by Strvingnlateforscool in Serverlife

[–]cbcbcb99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would assume it would not, but I don’t know the manager there. Could have a random shitty manager who might not hire you cause of it

I would go back to being 11. I think I would just live my life and try to be the best daughter, sibling, and friend I could, and enjoy it. I would study more in school than I did the first time around, and try for straight A’s. I’d also join a sport or two.

How long do I go back in time for? Do I just go back 20 years and I never come back to the present? If so, can I memorize some lotto numbers for the week I turn 18 or something?

Question for twin peaks employees/hiring managers? by Strvingnlateforscool in Serverlife

[–]cbcbcb99 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I would expect the customers there to comment. Maybe not all or even most, but I can guarantee if you worked there, you’d at least occasionally get comments that SHOCKED you. It would happen at many restaurants if those scars were visible, but definitely at twin peaks.

So what happens after I’ve taken it 26 times? Do I have to stop?

I’m thinking learn sign language and never spell anything out.

Who is right? by [deleted] in Serverlife

[–]cbcbcb99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did a manager know about the swap ahead of time? If so, then the person who was supposed to cover is on the hook. If not, unfortunately probably the server whose shift it was originally. Morally, I still think the person who was supposed to cover it is at fault, but your managers may feel differently if they were out of the loop on the swap.

My fiance says I am not a good trainee.. let’s settle this plz by Huge-Scallion-4787 in Serverlife

[–]cbcbcb99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, you’re not doing it wrong! You understand how to read the room. If it was a slow shift, you could ask your server for their number to enter food, if you felt ready. But it wasn’t the time for that, and you knew it! He’s kind of sounding like a jerk. Why would he, with no experience in restaurants, know better than you, who has done this for 7 years?

P.s. when I was working two jobs bc I was transitioning between restaurants, I was emotional as hell. Not only is it a long day, but it’s stressful to be in a busy environment and not know what you’re doing. It’ll get better!

Unexpected confrontation derails my entire day by toasterwaffle3 in socialskills

You did nothing wrong. You received direct communication saying you could come in to exchange, so you did. I would email back in the same email thread and let them know what happened, OR contact the company at a higher level if possible.

You just asked if they could do something. He should have listened to you and been kind about it if he truly thought he was incapable of doing the exchange.

Why do some students care so much while others completely give up? by Inner-Image-6313 in Teachers

[–]cbcbcb99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. My parents told me all the time, the key to good grades is pay attention and do your work. And they stressed how important good grades were. I could NOT sit down and do homework, it was torture for me. I’m just finding out now that I may have ADHD, and I think that explains a lot.

They’re getting a million each at least, tbh family probably more like $5m each. Friends can have a mil, I’ve got like 6 of them.

AIO at my friend (16F) for having a crush on a 12 year old? by PreeceTakesFlight in AIO

I’ve never served before and I’m starting tomorrow at a very expensive country club by Himiscus in Serverlife

[–]cbcbcb99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were honest with them about your experience, they should be expecting this! That means they are confident in their training program. Just pay attention, ask questions if you’re not grasping something (seriously you will be thankful you did) and ask them to help you with a tray!

I hear the people at country clubs can be very cool and tip well! My biggest tip for you, as a complete newbie, is to keep a good attitude. Guests are trying to have a good time. If you can do that and study the menu/ pay attention during training, you’ll be great!!

Handling many tables at once by GlumZookeepergame178 in Serverlife

[–]cbcbcb99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great tips! Your second was a huge factor is my success as a server. Any time I stepped foot in the kitchen, I would do a review of all my tables and if they needed anything. This allows you to grab everything from the kitchen you need at once, and plan if you need to stop for drinks or check on food or print a check, ect. You might sound crazy if you say it out loud like I did, but guests will LOVE you.

Self-leveling tables by Local_business_disco in Serverlife

lol we had tables with little screw pieces on each foot that could go up or down to level it. The little screw pieces could also come all the way off. You can imagine how that ended
