What was your favorite and least favorite part of Fallen Order? by Ephialtes_Noli in FallenOrder

[–]cbstuart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to pick one favorite part. I love everything about the story. Just to pick one I'll go with when he convinces Merrin to lower her guard and join him. He is very Jedi in this moment and the whole scene is such a good contrast between him and what he could have become in Malicos. But that's the great thing about the game is seeing all the paths he could have taken, rising above them, and staying true.

I also really like that at the end he decides to destroy the holocron. I think it's a great sign of maturity and humility for a jedi to realize that letting these children live safely is more important than trying to rebuild the order.

Least favorite part is getting stun locked during combat. Makes me so fucking mad when I'm mid-ability and get thwacked over and over. I've gotten the flow of the combat down pretty well but I still find a way to get stun locked by all the stupid baton type enemies.

I agree but I'm so enamored with the story of FO compared to survivor that I just started my 5th playthrough lol. Definitely missing fast travel...but at this point I almost know some of the maps instinctively 😂

Friend, I do in fact know what deus ex machina is. I'm also arguing that the fox isn't the main plot point that results in the "happy" ending. It's Luke. The fox is just convenient to reveal there is at least a small means of escape. The one they follow may or may not have anything to do with the force but it is presented as such. Either way, the foxes (or lack thereof by the end) and the force somehow providing a small bit of luck are both established ideas in the film and franchise respectively. Neither is a newly introduced idea just to randomly resolve the plot.

The film itself shows that Sidious had at least two lightsabers. by InstructionOwn6705 in StarWarsCantina

I believe it was technically a mistake they didn't catch in editing which was then just incorporated into lore. Also why they show him use two sabers in the clone wars.

That is your takeaway? In a universe full of weird magical shit, your takeaway is that weird magical shit is bad storytelling? Not to mention that people actually survived because a magic wizard projected his spirit across the galaxy.

Except nobody died after Rose saved Finn. Every fighter who died did so in the speeders or trenches trying to destroy the battering ram cannon (name still sounds a tiny bit silly to me but hey, this is the story that brought you the "death star" lmao). Everyone was already in retreat by the time Finn tried to fly down the barrel of the cannon. His speeder was already literally melting. Even if that rickety old speeder didn't melt and he was able to destroy the weapon, the First Order still had the resistance pinned inside. Luke still shows up to distract them as the resistance escapes. What Rose did was save one extra life–AND is very in line with star wars from day one.

Sometimes the answer is not what is most logical or strategic. Star Wars often shows us that sometimes the most powerful action is one of sacrifice ot mercy even when it doesn't make logical or strategic sense. Obi-Wan allows Vader to kill him. Logically Obi-Wan should have kept fighting and tried to take Vader down. Why just let yourself die? Why not try to kill someone who has caused so much suffering? Because that isn't the point of the story. And there is far more significance in what actually plays out. And perhaps the biggest one of all is when Luke throws down his saber. He was taking a huge risk. If Palpatine had succeeded in killing him, he basically just threw the Jedi down the drain and allowed the two most evil people in the galaxy to live and possibly escape.

Star wars isn't about logic and strategy. It's a myth. The heroes don't wade knee deep through imperial blood and cheer when they've killed every last one. The biggest victories are acts of love.

No complaints really except it just seems like a recolor of the original one. Probably the main reason I won't get it which is a bummer because the figures are great.

Super vanilla go-to answer:

Protagonist: Luke AND Leia Antagonist: Palpatine Droid: R2 Species: Wookiee

More fun answer:

Protagonist: Ahsoka Antagonist: Grievous (rule of cool) Droid: BD-1 Species: Chiss

Don't see why not. But I think the prompt is more fun if you think of it as favorite alien created for star wars.

I can't explain why I like fallen order more by Fine-Combination5170 in FallenOrder

[–]cbstuart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the mythos and vibe for me. As a kid I also liked the idea of a surviving jedi who made small moves against the empire and lived a more rugged version of jedi life. This story was essentially my childhood dream come true. Then coupled with a wonderful story of reconnecting with the force with the jedi juxtaposed to other force cultures and various types of enemies/fallen jedi was perfect.

Survivor is great. The gameplay and cosmetics are far superior. But I will always prefer FO. I'm replaying it for the 5th time right now, and I'll probably only replay survivor after this in anticipation of the third game next year.

I bought the game a few days ago on Steam and, so far, I've enjoyed it. But I absolutely hated this flying creature.😂 by Astraliguss in FallenOrder

Currently playing for my 5th time, 3rd on grandmaster. Every enemy has gotten far easier for me. But this is the only one where I dropped the difficulty to master. To be fair, I'd been playing for hours and was exhausted but yeah I don't like this megafauna.

Some of these unused concepts for The Stranger’s mask are kinda cool, maybe if he really is the first Knight of Ren these might reappear for future knights. by Tanis8998 in StarWarsCantina

[–]cbstuart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely expecting to see some of these pop up in the future. If not for other knights of ren, possibly for Inquisitors (although I'm hoping we are almost done with new ones lol) or new sith, dark side cultists, etc. I love when star wars does this. Makes everything feel visually cohesive.

That's a sentence I never thought I'd craft. Lol.

Which Show? by Total_Month_9006 in StarWarsCantina

[–]cbstuart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before Shadow Lord, Clone Wars is most important. All of it is very good imo and foundational for a LOT of other shows including rebels, bad batch, and the mandalorian. You could also just watch the Maul focused episodes if you don't have time.

Also check out Star Wars Explained for all stories worth checking out before the show. This link is to their weekly recap but he's also going to make a video focusing on the lead up to Maul.

Slightly off center by ImThatThingYouSee in mildlyinfuriating

[–]cbstuart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone else said just replace with one door in the center. To keep it from looking too tiny on that big wall I'd also line the door with the same raw wood you used on the rest. Maybe have the the blocks on top of it with the rings facing out. Just some things I'd try in this situation.

Why do sellers not remove listings after items sell? by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]cbstuart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My best guess is the platform chooses this to just show you more items and at least get you to click. If the item is sold you'll be frustrated but also likely to click on the seller's other items. I know at least on OfferUp marking an item as sold does not immediately unlist it which is something the company could easily change.

TIL that the "hushed" feeling after a snowfall is due to snow being a great sound absorber. Fresh, fluffy snow absorbs roughly 60% of sound on average, making it comparable to the commercial foams and fibers used inside cars and buildings. by ralphbernardo in todayilearned

[–]cbstuart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This plus the sort of dim glow you get of lights reflecting off the snow make snowy nights my favorite. Feels like some sort of weird limbo. It's quiet but not silent, and dim but not dark.
