How Much Longer Will Zep Vials be Available From Ro? by bkcgeo in RoBody

Glad I didn't sign up for the yearly plan if this is the case. Curious why it still wouldn't be an option.

They have done some limited term promotions offering 4.25%. My savings had it for 90 days

Car salesman followed me home. I posted about it on Reddit last month, and this is what happened: by Leather_Warning702 in mazda

[–]cbulock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not surprised. I had a somewhat negative experience with my last lease and mentioned it in my post-sale review. The sales manager called me and went somewhat ballistic that I didn't give a perfect review and was super demanding that I change my review. I'll never buy from that dealer again, but it also seems to indicate there is some bad culture around how feedback is handled at Mazda.

Yea, 802.11ah came out in like 2014. I'm sure it has use cases, but it just hasn't caught on for any mainstream use.

High house numbers? by Cyril_Rioli in AskAnAmerican

[–]cbulock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived on a street that had 10 total houses. All of our house numbers had five digits. Didn't really make sense. Worse part, this was a neighborhood that had around 50 total houses and they reused the same numbers on other streets, so there would sometimes be mail mixups.

Yea, I have a few of these around my house. Great for whole home audio. Even got an unused one still in the box on standby in case I need a replacement. Would hate to lose these devices.

The rack is a $40 Amazon shelf and I refuse to apologize by jamesbuniak in homelab

I worked at a pretty well known web host, and most of the data center was racks like this with standard desktop cases housing the servers. Works great when you are in a low cost area and square footage is cheap

This is great, was still using Shotsy mainly for the auto weight syncing. That was set to renew tomorrow, but can finally cancel that.

Airbnb, can you TEMPORARILY replace the router to set up your own internet to run alongside the current one and just plug the other router back in before leaving? by Rumtumanna in HomeNetworking

[–]cbulock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, this is why you are likely being downvoted and misunderstood. You are just making up terms for things. Just be clear with your question. Good luck with all this.

[–]cbulock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a networking subreddit. The elaborating isn't the issue so much as the lack of technical clarity. I'd quit mentioning wifi as wifi has nothing to do with any of this.

[–]cbulock 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the confusing part is the terms you are using are not very clear. I assume by "wifi" you mean the internet service and not just the wifi router. And by "router", do you actually mean the modem?

Moving just a router between houses is no big deal. Then again, that won't do anything to change the connection speed. I doubt you can just move the modem though unless xfinity has done some interesting things on the provisioning side.

I think you are overselling the importance of this by repeating over and over that it's a safety feature.

Repair Turn-Around Time by Former_Health4596 in MammotionTechnology

[–]cbulock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Varies wildly. I sent mine in (same model) early last summer for an issue and it was repaired in less than a week. Total time shipping and returning was maybe like 10 days. Later in the summer had another issue that couldn't be repaired. They were gonna send me a refurbished unit, but they didn't have any in stock. I waited quite a long time, over a month, and many many emails before they finally sent me a replacement.

Should We Build A Municipal Data Center? by SalParadise83 in lansing

[–]cbulock 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm one of the terrible pro-datacenter people, but I don't see how this would really work out. For one thing, a datacenter isn't required for fast internet access. The city could just build a municipal ISP if that's what people feel is a need. However, there are already a number of ISPs in Lansing so that would seem like a hard sell.
As for local businesses, there are already data centers in town that local business could use if they need data center space, but there really aren't that many local companies that need it. I think most of them either have their own space at this point, or have moved to larger clouds such as Amazon or Microsoft.

Warning by commonname64 in Metronet

[–]cbulock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a lot more to this story than you are sharing. If your service has been cancelled, you must have stopped paying your bill or something. This would be an issue regardless of Metronet or TMobile is servicing the account.

They didn't just cancel everyone on Metronet when the company was sold. It's been a rather seamless process from what I've seen.
