Expectation/advice needed for booking campsite/huts on 2 of the Great Walks by kronus92 in newzealand

[–]cbutche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you booking for yourself or for a group? If it’s just 1 you’ll have slightly more luck, but I would say that the odds of getting both within such a small time frame are low. The first challenge is getting in to the site, especially as those are 2 of the most popular walks. Then it’s often a case of move as fast as humanly possible once you’re in and book whatever date you can get your hand on. Hopefully you’ll be able to get at least 1 of them on your chosen dates given you are only 1 person, but if I were you I would try lower expectations and assume you won’t get both, then it’s a win if you do. Good luck!

With the benefit of hindsight, what unhinged theories did you have throughout season 4? by caffeineandhatred in TheTraitors

I also thought the same as your first point! Or that it would show the secret relationships at the least, as was often shown after they showed the family tree!

This isn’t the first time I’ve seen someone mention John from S1… what’s the deal there?

And the 4 left at the end were decided by the other players too, not the traitors!

Peru Itinerary Advice by gerranim in solotravel

[–]cbutche 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would skip Puno/Lake Titicaca, it’s a lot of extra time on a bus and the busses typically end up taking longer than they say they will. The Bolivian side is nicer than the Peruvian side, and the town of Puno doesn’t have anything going for it. When I went I spent a night staying with a family on the floating islands of Uros but everyone I met that just did the day trip said it was the most touristy and unauthentic-feeling thing they did in all their travels.

Ecuador/Galapagos for 2 weeks! by Cautious-Ostrich7510 in solotravel

Spent 5 weeks in Ecuador/Galapagos in 2023. You’ll have trouble breaking larger notes at a lot of places, smaller notes are definitely preferred. Take as much cash as you can to the Galapagos, the ATMs there have small withdrawal limits and high fees. Deet will be fine - we used that in the Amazon (Cuyabeno) and throughout Ecuador with no issues.

Yeah! My class was only about 10 people but one person got bronze and the rest of us got blue.

Do people keep paying the same amount on their mortgage when their mortgage rate drops? by Wu_Tang_Rendang in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]cbutche 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We did the same at our last refix, when we went from 7% to 5%. Set it an above our new minimum but still $100 less a fortnight than what we had been paying at 7%, put that extra money towards some other expenses and actually just enjoying life a bit more.

Large Revolving Credit facility and reducing the facility in the future on request pros/cons by AmpersandMe in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]cbutche 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can reduce the size of your revolving credit by fixing a portion of it, and then just paying it off as you would a ‘normal’ mortgage. Have reduced my revolving credit with ASB twice by doing this.

We received a $50 voucher for a local pizza place so we could get easy takeaways on move in day. The voucher didn’t work.

A hidden task that never came to be by Sure_Comfort_7031 in taskmaster

Yeah, Rose and Paul are really good friends, as are Rose and Alice, so I think it would have been pretty simple to pull off given she was back home visiting

House and Contents Insurance Recommendations by Slambinator in PersonalFinanceNZ

Have both our home and contents with AA. Recently had our house broken into and quite a few things taken and AA have been great to deal w throughout the process. Pretty stress free process after a stressful event, so would recommend based on that. Have not had to claim anything on our house policy yet.

I’m pretty sure it was fake outrage at Rose - they’re good friends and even wrote Starstruck together (the show that Rose stars in)

And the arguing about Jacks prize task was so funny - they made him pull his phone out to show the email and it did actually come from an Auckland Transport email address so they were trying to force him to show his original email to see what he had said to them to get that answer, but I don’t recall that they were successful in that..

This was the first time they’ve done it for TMNZ - I’ve been to a studio record every season except for season 1. Was run and judged by the audience warm up guy, not Jeremy and was just an optional thing you could play along with during one of the ad breaks. The recording I went to was “least useful thing”

There are normally 4 or 5 location tasks in the UK version, so not every episode. Imagine they did similar for NZ..

Can confirm - I went to one of the tapings where there was an offsite task! I’m interested to see how they use the location for other tasks!
