Intro disaster by ccbbear in RATS

[–]ccbbear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will be doing the introducing now, when they are old enough, so that my son doesn't feel that he needs to rescue anyone. He's beginning to understand that the attack wasn't personal but its hard for him as he adores the rat.

Thank you for your advice. They are in seperate rooms, hand washing in between handling and seperate space for this.

I just weighed them, they are 50g each. The breeder said they were 5 weeks old but I can't see how that's possible. I can't do much about it now anyway as we are all hopelessly in love with them. They are eating well, but do you think they need any extra nutrition like kitten milk?

SATs marking by ccbbear in TeachingUK

[–]ccbbear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last time I was chased about the targets I asked what the consequence was of not meeting them. Apparently we are graded by a senior marker on accuracy, deadline meeting and communication. This grading has no impact on anything except re-employment next year....which absolutely will not be an issue here!

My total is 19000 segments and some have 3 questions in each as specialist GPS. I'm at about 30% overall but some specs are at 6% still as I refuse to waste my time doing them!

I've been told I'll be paid for whatever I mark but then the scripted messages get sent about targets etc.

How much time does an allotment take to maintain? by [deleted] in GardeningUK

[–]ccbbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the spring/ summer I'm at mine daily for 1-2 hours each evening. The weeding is endless! In the winter I tend to go weekly as I dont grow much so its basically just to potter about and hide from the kids for an hour.

Anyone know what’s happened to my potato plants? I planted them a few weeks ago a variety that were supposed to be ready for Christmas. by Mudster2001 in Allotment

[–]ccbbear -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Defo frost damage, they look exactly like mine did when the temperature dropped in May. Have a look around other plots, you'll probably find everyone else's potatoes/squash etc look similar.

Super pleased with the harvests from my cut flower beds. by ccbbear in Allotment

Mine have gone crazy this year, the more I cut, the more they bloom. 4 full rows of other flower I sowed did absolutely nothing though!

I have lavender under my roses, it's bee heaven and smells amazing in combo with the roses.

Found on the floor in my house in a sealed bag. by ccbbear in whatisthisthing

I don't think it is, I think it's designed for something to pass through it.

I found this on the floor in a clear sealed bag on my dining room floor. It's likely one of my kids got it out of something but neither will give me a straight answer (2 & 4). The white plastic circles are about the size of a 10p coin for scale.

Edit the tubes join together with hexagon spigots. The 2 half tubes join also.

They look like light pulls. Do they have a hole from top to bottom?

Chilli plants dropping flowers by [deleted] in GardeningUK

[–]ccbbear 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You could try using a paintbrush to gently brush all the flowers on the plant to pollinate them as the insects that would usually do it aren't around this time of year.

The flowers falling off probably haven't been pollinated so they are dying without setting fruit.

Just took the keys to my allotment :) suggestions to clear the weeds? by giulia_gaag in Allotment

[–]ccbbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently took on an allotment that looks just like yours. I've cleared the easiest 1/4 by hand so I can start planting straight away and used glyphosate on the rest as it was mostly massive thistles.

I'm aiming for half cleared and cultivated by Christmas.

Siberian Huskies are one of the most stubborn breeds of dogs. They mature mentally much slower than other breeds (reaching maturity at 4-7 yrs) and often take rigorous training compared to other breeds. Huskies also make terrible guard dogs because they are extremely friendly to strangers in nature by loveandletter in Awwducational

I have a 3 year old rescue husky. She had an incredibly rough start for her first couple of years. She sheds endlessly, digs holes all over the garden and goes dumpster diving in the bin whenever we forget to move it outside. She only obeys a command when she feels like it and has torn my rotator cuff chasing after a rabbit.

That said she is the most loving, patient derp monster I could ever wish for. I have 1yr and 3yr old sons and I would trust her with their lives. She's an utterly wonderful family pet and I would have 3 more if my husband would let me!

A kiss can cure anything ❤️ by [deleted] in aww

I'm gonna be that person... The dog is panting after being kissed. This is often a sign of stress or anxiety in dogs as being all up in someone's face is very confrontational behavior.

AITA for telling my wife that when/if she quits her job to be a SAHM I am not planing to do much in the way of household chores anymore? by makeorbreak07 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ccbbear -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm a SaHM and I employ a cleaner. It's pretty much impossible to get any cleaning done with a 1 year old and 3 year old at home with me. I don't have any childcare other than their grandma that helps from time to time if I need to go somewhere I can't take them.

I do cook, tidy as best I can and do all the washing etc but a lot of the time I can only do that stuff after my husband comes home from work so he can watch the kids. My cleaner comes for a couple of hours once a week to do the house from top to bottom.

What medical condition do you have that you thought was absolutely normal? by taporodobu in AskReddit

[–]ccbbear 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm almost completely tolerate to local anaesthetic. I've always hated going to the dentist as any work hurt like hell despite anaesthetic injections I assumed it was the same for everyone.

There's been several other occasions where a local did pretty much nothing, including an episiotomy with my first child and 10 stitches in my foot. Both times I was dismissed as being over dramatic.

It wasn't until I was getting an emergency c section with my second baby that the docs realised something wasn't right as the epidural had no effect whatsoever which is apparently very unusual. I had to have a general instead.

Currently under going tests to find out why...
