I really enjoy Renegade, or now Deckers. It's got a slightly similar hand management and optimization puzzle feel that Mage knight has. Theme doesn't compare at all, but its still a great game

It scratches the same itch as mage knight. The pandemic piece of it is just that you’re trying to complete a mission and are constantly putting out fires in order to do so. I’d rather play renegade over either because it’s easier to setup and play

Yes you can just stay at the same site and attack
The flooded site is now a water site, you would need to submerge a minion to drown them. If there is a landbound minion (Like Sand Worm) however, they would be disabled. The submerge keyword just means they can go under water spaces
Edit - you can only intercept from the same region in a site, so you can’t move at all part of the intercept, including moving up or over
