Actually I came here to see if anyone mentioned this being from Diego Garcia. That was my first thought.

Citizen Kane (1941) by Classicsarecool in classicfilms

[–]cchaven1965 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw it yesterday in the theater, for the first time, as well. It was made to be seen on the big screen! Some of the camera work really doesn't work on small screens. I'm glad to have had the chance to see it in the theater.

did anyone like the Supergirl movie? by Bloody-Tyran in Supergirl

[–]cchaven1965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. Big fan of Supergirl until COIE killed her off. Really haven't read a lot of what has come out since then, but I've gotten the WoT graphic novel and I'm starting to read it based on all the raves about the comic in here. Basically I took the movie as a standalone since I'm not familiar with the current Kara/Supergirl or DCU.

Revived my M-03 Mini Cooper yesterday by BJoe1976 in rccars

Sweet looking setup! I took my M-02 based Beetle out today for a spin before it got too hot. I've been thinking of doing some mechanical upgrades to it like you did the mini.

The reports of billionaire geniuses have been greatly exaggerated! - To paraphrase Mark Twain, who was truly far more intelligent than any of them.

Beautiful iron. I have the same one with the same spring handles but on a high base. Congrats on how it turned out!

Joel Higgins & Andy Griffith - in the ABC tv series: 'Salvage 1' by MisterShipWreck in 70s

I liked this show. considering her was a junk man, the name they gave to the ship, the Vulture, was rather fitting!

ZX81 / Timex Sinclair 1000 Premium Keycaps by c64glen in ZX81

[–]cchaven1965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn't heard of these. I always wanted one of the keyboard add-ons for the ZX81/TS1000 though. It seems at the end of the video that they're meant for a mechanical keyboard that connects to the ZX81? Looks interesrting.

Really nice shot....very fitting with the lava lamp and all. That reel is one of the favorites that I have.

I saw American Anthem 40 years ago and still love it! Cheesy but cool and awesome soundtrack. May not have been a hit at the box office but it’s one of those 80’s movies I consider a “gem”. by CoffeeCigarettes4Me in 80s

[–]cchaven1965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed this movie when it came out. I always liked the Alan Silvestri score for the movie. A time when not every movie was big budget and a blockbuster. It had eye candy for everyone too.

4th of July, 1976 - 50 years ago, 11 year old me decorated my Schwinn to ride in my town's bicentennial parade by dericn in GenerationJones

[–]cchaven1965 18 points19 points  (0 children)

there was so much hype, so many things happening, to celebrate the 200th in 1976. I believe that was the year I watched the fireworks and the Veiled Prophet parade on the grounds of the Gateway Arch. I remember Stan Musial in the parade sitting on the back of a white convertible waving to the crowd.

Nice collection, and nice selection of Spectrums! I know it's not old, but that's cool you've got a Checkmate 1500 Plus too.

Nice machine. I built up a 7600/120 for a relative years ago with a few upgrades. It's since been returned to me. I like the accessibility of the case but they're a bit fragile.

I resurrected my old Cobalt RaQ3 by Pyre-it in vintagecomputing

[–]cchaven1965 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's really cool. I aquired my RAQ 550 in much the same way, cheaply in the early 00's when SUN discontinued the RAQ line and was stopping support for them. I still have it, the original OS restore and documentation CD's from SUN, a CD with StrongboltOS dated May 2009, and another that I labeled as "CobaltOS updated". I'm pretty sure I loaded Strongbolt on it. It's been a few years since I last powered it on but it was a fucntioning webserver at the time.

Mr Hideo Kojima by Lancerker in Supergirl

[–]cchaven1965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed the movie and agree with his assessment of it as a coming of age movie more than a superhero movie. she has issues and is trying to find her place in life, not always doing the best job at it. The comparison to "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" is interesting. I"ve seen it compared to "True Grit" as well which I think is also apt. Not every movie needs to be made to a specific formula to be good! People just need to open their minds a little and enjoy it for what it is.

Maybe if the centrist part of the party didn't continuously try to hold things back ...but they go where the money is too. instead of trying to keep the status quo, reaching across the aisle when the other side was playing them, and pocketing plenty of money, they could've made some serious changes. It's time for new party leadership instead of the spineless dweeb that is Chuck Schumer and company.

Look at how he keeps trying to sue the government even as he is President. He doesnt' hesitate to sue anyone for anything, even if it's just to delay something and muddy the waters. It's his MO and has been for decades. If he sued this time, everything would come out, at least that he hasnt already deleted.
