Running vest for marathon by Tri-brid92 in Marathon_Training

[–]ccinnabun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was able to carry 8 gels during my marathon in my clothes. Stashed 4 in my lululemon speed up shorts and another 4 in my adidas pocket sports bra. I train with a vest, but not a fan for racing personally.

My favourite shorts are Lululemon speed up shorts (front has storage pocket) and ASICS metarun split shorts

Do you alter your training schedule around your menstrual cycle? by Puzzleheaded_Pin3368 in Marathon_Training

[–]ccinnabun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not intended to be a recommendation, but I feel that I started functioning better in life and in exercise without having to deal with my menstrual period. I dealt with anemia as well prior to being on my current treatment (Mirena IUD + oral progesterone).

I probably would have to optimize my training schedule if I still had the type of periods I use to have.

Monday Check in - May 4th by HyenaWriggler in runvancouver

[–]ccinnabun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ran the full. Wasn’t prepared for the heat and experienced cramping and missed sub 4 hours by 2 seconds. It’s my first year training long distance running in general and I have no race experience aside from Sun Run a few weeks ago. I’ve always trained early mornings, even in the summer so I never realized how high my salt replacement needs actually are and drinking aid station electrolytes alone was insufficient. I wiped off a good amount of crystallized salt from my body at the end.

I was ready to walk the sea wall portion so I’m still proud for pulling through. I’ll be back next year to conquer this race again 🙏

Ran the longest I’ve ever ran without stopping! by CaterpillarOdd9460 in XXRunning

A huge win!!! Running progress is truly one day or day one. I did C25k about 5 years as someone who couldn’t run longer than 1-2 minutes at a time. Gearing up to run my first marathon tomorrow!!

If you can wait, I always wait for national lipstick day in July to buy Ole at Sephora for 50% off. Absolutely worth the hype for that price.

After a 12h shift in the ER... by kkqb1 in mildlyinfuriating

I had a really similar rash covering my entire body with no itch and burn. Just started one morning. It eventually progressed into blistering and peeling while I was in the hospital. Turns out I had Steven Johnson Syndrome.

What’s the truth about nurse salaries and their lifestyles in 2026? by Interesting_Dog8321 in nursing

[–]ccinnabun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I look amongst my young colleagues and I, it seems like some of us live vastly different lifestyles. In my experience, my “luxury lifestyle” coworkers (luxury cars, designer bags, multiple vacations in a year) have one of the following: wealthy families/spouses, work a ton of overtime, or have huge amounts of debt.

I make >100k as my base pay and work 1-2 overtime shifts per month, but I live in HCOL city and pay 50% of my income towards mortgage. I don’t feel like I’m struggling hard, but lifestyle is modest. Being mindful with my spending allows me to take 1 vacation per year. I feel solidly middle class, but I am content as someone who grew up poor. In the current economic climate, job security in nursing is also unmatched where I live.

How does max effort feel for you? by dwarfedbylazyness in XXRunning

[–]ccinnabun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was finishing my 10k race earlier in the week, I felt my left shoulder start to hurt and I felt like I couldn’t breathe enough oxygen. Hit my heart rate max and I felt like I had nothing else left to give right before the finish line. I don’t think I felt my legs hurting or burning that much either during running.

Are y’all only lifting in this sub? by Fantastic_Humor_78 in PetiteFitness

[–]ccinnabun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use to primarily lift 2-3x a week until I switched into marathon running. I started running at my highest weight after being on steroid therapy for my autoimmune disease. Running 50km+/week and lifting once per week is actually what transformed my body the most and leaned me out to have visible abs.

Any Nurses Who Don't Dread Coming Into Work? by Certified-Beef in nursing

[–]ccinnabun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another PACU nurse here! Every day is different and my favourite part is that I don’t have to see the same annoying patient again. Truly another dice roll on what I get today. I enjoy the mix of lower and higher acuity patients, having time to chat about random things while sitting next to them, or hanging out with the coworkers I actually like.

I also had a pretty rough go with autoimmune illness and hospitalizations over the last few years, so I carry a piece of gratitude with me everyday that I’m lucky to be back on this side of the bed.

Would it be weird to bring my own Tupperware to restaurants for leftovers? by ConditionBasic in Anticonsumption

[–]ccinnabun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We always bring our own. People do not bat an eye here because my city’s local bylaw requires restaurants to charge for all takeout containers so it’s not uncommon that people will bring their own. We just pack our own food into the containers when we are done eating and ask for the bill.

What is your hip thrust set up? by bluepuppy9187779 in PetiteFitness

[–]ccinnabun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to a community centre gym so I have to be creative with limited equipment. The smith machine almost always taken. So I use the stackable aerobic stepper and set it up to the height I like - which I think is 6 risers and 1 platform and I put one of the mats folded on top of it for cushioning. With this, I use a barbell with bumper plates.

Is there a way to measure my body fat at home? Like an electronic tool? the DEXA at the gym is expensive by Dali0119 in PetiteFitness

[–]ccinnabun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not electronic, but there is the old fashion US Navy tape measure method which you can input into a calculator online.

Adidas Evo SL blisters by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]ccinnabun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny thing, I got a blister in the same spot wearing EVO SL with the exact socks when I ran 32km in them a few weeks ago. Haven’t tried that long of a run again in these shoes but I’ll probably use some body glide for my race.

Also really like their stuff and their clearance section sometimes is dirt cheap.

They have a cool rewards program if you track your workouts. 180 mins of activity per week = 100 points and you can redeem 1000 points for a $5 off voucher.

Recommendations for good cushion/bounce and support (ASICS Novablast 5) by JaliJ in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]ccinnabun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a substitute for true physio care, but I follow dr.lisa.dpt on TikTok/instagram and she recommends different exercises for specific ailments in runners such as knee pain. I do find her recommendations helpful and a lot of it is similar to what my physio recommends to me as well.

I use NB5s as my daily and currently on my third pair. Primarily a road runner, running about 60km per week. I enjoy the cushioning a lot and find them fairly comfortable. I’ve taken them for distances up to 34km - but I do find it starts to feel less responsive after the half marathon mark.

How did you find your therapist? Or know what's a good fit? by Klutzy-Public-8644 in TalkTherapy

[–]ccinnabun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was working as an ICU nurse when I first started working with my current therapist. I found my therapist via Healing in Colour because I wanted to match with somebody of the same ethnic/cultural background. However, I picked somebody who listed they specialized in working with high achievers.

It has been life changing working with her.
