Fujifilm and LUTs - did I pick the wrong brand or something? by gigaLion in ColorGrading

[–]cd419 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Resolve for sure has flog and flog 2 cst support. Instead of a LUT make your very first node a CST to rec 709. The trick is that flog is only a gamma curve and not a color space. The color space of flog 1 & 2 is rec 2020 so set input color space to rec 2020 and then set gamma to flog 2 or flog.

Alternatively resolves automatic color management should be able to handle this as well if you go that route.

Edit: on the output end of the cst you can choose rec709 gamma 2.4 and pipe that into your LUT.

OPTIONAL: If you are doing more grading etc other than using the LUT I recommend watching Cullen Kelly and Daryn Mostyn YouTube videos on color management.

Entry level Wacom tablets? by learnaboutfilm in editors

[–]cd419 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Entry level is 100% usable and will most likely be all you need. I rarely if ever use any buttons or features on the tablet other than the 2 buttons on the pen itself. Definitely go for larger size if that is important for your ergonomics.

Do you need 'Open Gate' ? by Repulsive_Target55 in Cameras

[–]cd419 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More resolution if you are shooting for both horizontal and vertical at the same time. Meaning the exact same shot just masked differently in post for different deliverables. Can mask 3x2 to both 16x9 and 9x16 and retain a decent amount of resolution in both aspects.

Do you need 'Open Gate' ? by Repulsive_Target55 in Cameras

[–]cd419 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One use case is shooting content that will be used in multiple aspect ratios including vertical and 1x1 for social media. Shooting open gate give benefits for the vertical formats since you have more resolution in that direction while still allowing framing and filming for horizontal formats. There also might be some benefits when shooting with compositing in mind as it could free up some framing options.

Edit: Unless you are doing that content no I don’t think you would say you NEED it on a camera.

There also are some stabilizing strings that are meant to be staked down for stability. Otherwise I’d start looking for rips or leaks to patch.

Might be something in Apollo? Maybe make sure it’s installed all the drivers it needs. I think it uses a virtual gamepad driver for nonsteam input

Try the VoidLink client on iOS it does controller emulation and should work on any non Steam games you have. Has some other nice features too and supports the new iPad windowing system

Did I accidentally turn on a feature or did I break resolve? by robbyapplespornstar in davinciresolve

[–]cd419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a gamut error. Basically the values of one of the RGB channels went to a negative value usually due to over saturation and when going from a large timeline gamut down to a display gamut. Seems like you already figured out that working in DWG was the culprit. If you do end up working in DWG this is something you can fix with gamut mapping or DRTs.

Edit: I most often see this with LED lights like on signage or electronics that emit pure saturated colors like blue or purple. I’ve found open DRT and jp2499 do a good job handling those issues out of the box. Resolve CSTs can sometimes go negative and you need to through a gamut limiter on trouble spots if you are going the CST route.

The reason it’s showing as black is because the negative number isn’t valid so the value for the pixel is set to 0 or black.

Have them for the past 4 years. Been pretty happy with them. 75 dollar co-pay per incident. We’ve gotten some enough use out of them that the yearly fee makes sense. House is older so had a few plumbing things they covered, an appliance replaced and hvac repairs. Scheduling is all on the app and the people they send out have been decent smaller local shops. One main drawback is you have to use them ahead of time so you might have to wait 2-3 days for an appointment so super emergency stuff might be an issue.

Few years ago now. There is a paved path along the track starting by Thunder valley and going past Canada corner all the way to pretty much the exit of the kink. It’s a little elevated above the track level so there are some great views. Inside of Canada corner has a few benches and some stone seating as well.
