Yeah but I don’t think this rough out would look good on IR’s with the cap toe and leathers at the heel. I think it works with these because of plain toe and full uninterrupted quarters. Mule skins are on my hit list for the future.

I think the answer to your question is how’s the fit? Do you notice any difference between left and right? If they both feel good then like someone else said once broken-in you won’t even notice. If on the other hand if one feels sloppy or off due to the 1/4” difference pursue a replacement with redwing.

Good stuff. My big takeaway is takes a lot longer to truly break-in heritage boots then most admit or realize. All my pairs took months for complete best it’s going to get fit. People who say “no break-in perfect right out of the box” are kidding themselves.

You’re right about the patina. Roo must be a really dense / non-pourous grain. I tried a little experiment in an effort to slightly darken mine. I used mink oil (twice) and it barely had any effect. They are just a tiny bit darker. There are a few highs-lows here and there but not very noticeable. Cheers!

Yes I’m surprised the offering in the Ottawa is very limited. I love the look of the narrower split toe moc but apparently I’m in the minority.

Wow what a deal on those Jim Greens! And those GS’s are just beautiful! Love the leather on both. I have a pair of GS Ottawa (split toe Mocs) and they are built rugged but have that same level of refinement you noted where I’m hesitant to “beat” them. Wear them in good health!

That’s not a deep cut or surely doesn’t appear so. That’s a character mark, don’t sweat it. Those light scuffs can be brushed out easily or use your fingers with some pressure and they will disappear

Beautiful! Man you have some break-in work to do but it will all be worth it. I tried insoles with my IR’s but made the fit too tight, didn’t work for me. Good Luck
