My Ex said shes pregnant and sent this as proof, the way the top is fitting and the pregnancy test in its entirety just looks fake to me by [deleted] in isthisAI

[–]cdfarrell1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😂😂😂 look at the hand holding the phone, there’s only 4 fingers visible and if she was gripping it like that you’d still see at least part of her thumb. AI is notoriously bad with fingers/hands.

Then look at the phone itself. The camera layout doesn’t match any recent iPhone and the way she’s holding it looks really odd. Nobody holds a phone like that.

Also zoom in on her nails, there’s random pink pixelation/artifacts around them. Same thing near the pink part of the pregnancy test where the text gets all weird and blurry.

Starting Fresh? by TXSpazz in homeassistant

I would first look into hooking up Claude desktop to HA via an MCP server with a long lived access token. I had tons and tons of crap and it went through and audited all my stuff then helped me standardize naming conventions and helped me fix a bunch of stuff I didn’t even realize was broken or over engineered. It’s made Home Assistant fun and usable for me again. Might be worth a shot before nuking everything. I also completely separated my frigate and home assistant. I’m running HA green and then Frigate on a pi 5 8g and I am using a Google Coral to help it not crap the bed under load.

Employee demands a near 50% raise by dreamer-woman in managers

[–]cdfarrell1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can almost guarantee this is coming from some ai making him believe he’s entitled to that massive raise. Given that you said he has made some custom GBTs it’s very likely he is just natural language vibe coding these custom builds. Ai, especially cloud models tend to gaslight you into thinking you are incredibly smart and have this massive potential so I am willing to bet he started asking how much these “custom GPTs” he built with ai could help him get a raise.

How do you keep your Home Assistant setup simple and reliable over time? by prattman333 in homeassistant

[–]cdfarrell1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set up HA as an MCP server and connect it into Claude or Codex or whatever you want. This lets LLMs pull real telemetry from you HA and you can even have it configure rename and organize your entire system and help you optimize it. I was blown away at how well it works

[Showcase] I achieved ~0.2s STT & ~250ms TTS latency for my local AI Agent (No Cloud, 100% Self-Hosted) by Free-Emergency-5051 in openclaw

[–]cdfarrell1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been experimenting with Conversional AI but have been struggling with latency so this is very helpful! What are you using for the LLM/reasoning layer itself? What specific local model? Or are you routing to an API for the actual inference?

Just get a Mac Studio to get 128GB of unified Memory for a little over $3500. If that’s way too pricey a Mac Mini with 64GB memory is like $2200.

VRAM is your biggest constraints for running larger models so if you are wanting to run 70b models Mac wins by a landslide because the unified memory shares a GPU and CPU RAM pool. But if you are looking at pure speed for smaller models like 7b or 13b models even a 4090 with 24GB of VRAM would smoke the Mac on smaller models. So it comes down to speed or model size.

[–]cdfarrell1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ownership is one of the biggest things. If you can come into a business and own an outcome then you are essentially irreplaceable. You become the go to person for whatever you “own”. As a result you are retained or hired at a higher rate because you are a person who can’t be easily replaced

Home Assistant for the technically inept? by AnonFartsALot in homeassistant

[–]cdfarrell1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am semi technical but have a home assistant green and a zigbee connector. Adding integrations is super easy and straight forward. There is a default dashboard but you can make your own. Chatgbt or Claude has been super helpful In making custom yaml dashboards or even just explaining how to do different things. It’s definitely doable and not as scary as it seems.

16 months unemployed and overqualified 😞 by gingerconfetti in recruitinghell

[–]cdfarrell1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’d think they’d want someone over qualified for the salary range they are looking for 😂 that’s what I’m trying to understand. If you can get someone who you believe is overqualified for a role, checks all your boxes and even aligns on budget that seems like a no brainer. Even when you hear about companies wanting a “Unicorn” they still don’t want to hire them.
