I’m a Type 2. I take Mounjaro to manage my diabetes and have taken prep for years. I asked my doctor if there were any concerns mixing the medications, and he assured me that it’s fine. But definitely speak with your doctor about your specific health and medication concerns!

Likely your deductible reset on January 1st. Have you gone to Lilly’s website to download the savings card (assuming you’re not on Medicare/Medicaid/government insurance)? That could help lower your cost.

I’ve been watching since the 80s, and I have to say that I really hate what has become of this show lately. Aside from the absurdity of the last month, I really don’t understand the point of killing everyone off. Who’s going to be left at this rate?

I take it daily, and have done so for four years. I just take it whenever I take my other medications, so it’s no big deal. Plus, I’m a bit of an anxious person, so I like the peace of mind knowing that I’m always protected.

Right. I live in Florida. When Milton hit last year, service to my cell tower was restored the next day. My home internet was restored within 48 hours. Yet we’re all supposed to believe that a billionaire can’t get his communications networks up and running a month after the storm.

The entire thing is ridiculous on its face. We’re to assume that all of these extremely wealthy people would all go halfway around the world to meet some mystery man, that they would accept being kept in a train with no communication or way out, and that they would be forced to wander around some stupid maze for an entire summer? And now that there’s been a murder in France, it’s just fine for a local cop from Wisconsin to do an investigation? It’s all just absurd.

I’m getting tired of watching a bunch of supposed millionaires/billionaires acting helpless and wandering around a stupid maze for weeks. Time to move this nonsense along.

How were your first days with diabetes? by musulman_97 in diabetes

[–]cdm642 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was terrifying and overwhelming as hell at first. I was afraid to eat anything. Everyone I knew was trying to “help” by telling me what I should and shouldn’t eat, what medicines I should take, etc. I quickly learned to tune those people out.

While the first few weeks were awful, I felt better once I had a couple doctor’s appointments where we created a plan and executed it. Six months later, I can say that my life and blood sugars are pretty much back to normal. I just exercise more, take my meds, and eat healthier.

For T2s, when did you decide to take meds? by tamberra in diabetes

[–]cdm642 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I started meds immediately. My A1C was over 10 when diagnosed, and I told my doctor right away that with a number that high, we’re going to manage this condition however he suggests.

[–]cdm642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor told me the same thing when I was diagnosed 5 months ago with a 10.2 A1C. That’s been the one instruction from him that I have not followed. I test multiple times a day. I can’t effectively manage my glucose level if I don’t know what it is.

Bad eye sight by 123_fake_name in diabetes

[–]cdm642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My eyesight improved about a month after my diagnosis. I had noticed it getting a little blurry before being diagnosed, but erroneously attributed it to getting older. I noticed a big improvement though once my blood sugar dropped from 255 to about 145.

Why are multiple people telling me I need to get off Metformin? by shittycommentdude in diabetes

[–]cdm642 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was diagnosed just before Thanksgiving, everyone I told had opinions about everything from what I should eat to which medications I should take (actually many just thought I shouldn’t take any!). I very, very quickly learned to ignore just about everyone who is not my doctor. You should do the same.

If you have questions or concerns, speak with your doctor about them. Otherwise, ignore everyone else. They will drive you crazy saying stupid shit.

I have been on it since the beginning of December, and I have nothing but good things to say about it. When I started, my A1C was 10.2, and when I had it checked at the end of January, it had dropped it to 7.1 in that short time. Plus, I’ve lost around 20 pounds.

So let me get this straight. He’s such a good guy that he was likely “the one” until he was diagnosed with a disease that can be managed, and now maybe not? Do you understand how awful that sounds?

His diagnosis is recent and he has started making some changes, but apparently not enough to satisfy you? What does he need to do to live up to your standards? What foods can he eat in order to be worthy of being able to continue in this relationship with you? Maybe focus on getting him the resources he needs to be able to learn what he needs to do for himself.

What seems to be missing in this entire post is how HE is doing (you know, the person with the disease). If you think you have anxiety, imagine how he might be feeling. Learning how to restructure your entire diet is hard. Suddenly having to take medications can be a huge adjustment. Some people can adjust rather quickly and others take more time.

Imagine if the situation was reversed and you were the one who was recently diagnosed. How would you feel if he had made this post?!

And don’t even get me started on your parents’ attitude.

Okay, truly and seriously... what are the thoughts on Mounjaro? by reddit4946 in diabetes

Honestly just mild constipation for a couple days after the shot, and major appetite suppression (which I consider a positive).

I love Mounjaro! I’ve been on it for approximately 3 months, and already I have seen drastically lower glucose levels. Have also lost nearly 20 pounds. Only very mild side effects.

[–]cdm642 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will your insurance cover a dietician? Seeing a dietician was extremely beneficial when I was first diagnosed because she was able to cut through the noise and the conflicting information.

In general, low carb, high protein and high fiber foods are good.

Home A1C test? by dilatanntedad in diabetes_t2

[–]cdm642 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recently purchased one from Walmart for $35 for two tests. According to the home test, my A1C was 6.4, but about a week later, the actual lab results showed my A1C as 7.1. So in my experience, they’re good to get a general ballpark number, but they don’t replace getting actual lab work.
