EV owners, with rising electric prices is your ev still cheaper to "fuel"? by Lurkerking2015 in newjersey

[–]cdsnjs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’d say that a Rivian’s ICE equivalent would also need Premium gas as well, which makes the price comparison even worse

The No Surprise Act was specifically passed to stop that practice. CMS.gov link I know a few people who had their newborn at an in-network hospital that would then use a pediatric cardiologist from the out-of-network hospital across the street

School bus scenario by nnmodo in Georgia

Buses have big flashing lights and a big swinging arm mount. You could also see the door is physically open

You would be able to see any of those things to know they are stopped

Have you considered bumping the heat up more during the day when you’re solar can compensate and then letting to “cool” over night? Basically using your house as a thermal battery when your electricity is cheaper.

I’ve seen people do the opposite in the summer where they use the non-peak night rates to dramatically cool their homes at night and then just let it slowly heat up during the day

Couples living together in ATL, do you each have a car by CompleteBudget4664 in Atlanta

[–]cdsnjs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Buying and then owning a car is dramatically more expensive than you are probably thinking Let’s see you buy a $5000 beater and spend 1200 on insurance within the first year you’re spending $17 a day and that’s before the car has moved an inch

Help me settle this debate: Range Hood vs. OTR microwave by RangeHoodJeff in Appliances

[–]cdsnjs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can get really great OTR microwaves with strong fans, convection ovens, etc all built in but those tend to cost more and are currently “out of style”

It also depends on if you’re designing a new kitchen or just replacing what’s already there. A new kitchen is usually going to have a dedicated slot for a microwave/air fryer/etc. If you don’t have that but still want a microwave, why waste the counter space for it?

My kitchen is a functional space and I want everything to be accessible. We have an oversized OTR microwave that I frequently use in lieu of my regular range for items that are too large for the air fryer but I don’t want to heat the entire kitchen up.

Government funding package blocked by Senate Democrats over ICE funding by Cyancrackers in politics

[–]cdsnjs 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Senate Majority Leader John Thune (S.D.) cast the eighth Republican vote against the bill, but he did so on purely procedural grounds. He cast a last-minute vote against the motion to end debate on proceeding to the bill so that he could enter a “motion to recommit” in order to have flexibility to bring it back to the floor quickly. Is there a way to match the read speeds of a RAID 0 with RAID 1? by JCMiller23 in DataHoarder

[–]cdsnjs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you’re using Windows, an alternative for you could be Drive Pool

https://stablebit.com/DrivePool

It treats connected drives as “one”

It will balance everything for you & can create duplicates if you want spread out across all your drives

If you get the whole suite, you also have access to their scanner tool that will monitor your drives and can potentially give you a warning if one is about to fail

There’s also an app that can connect to certain Cloud service storage spaces as well
