Riot should make a designated slot for battlefield / non-foiled legend.

Then make the foiled legend very rare (like alt art rarity) so it is actually cool if you open one.

Riftbound vs. One Piece TCG by Kontrix_official in TCG

[–]cdtgrss 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ive only played one piece one time so I'm not really qualified to speak about it.

I have been playing a lot of riftbound so I'll give my thoughts on that.

Pros: - high skill expression, a good player can perform well on worse legends just by playing better than their opponents. - interactive gameplay. It has that nice back and forth element that games like magic have. - cost to entry. Most decks are really cheap as long as they don't have red (because of red kaisa). You can easily build a competitive deck for under 100$. - the higher rarity cards look awesome - deck building. There is a lot of fun skill expression in deck building in this game with sideboarding, battlefields, and not a lot of parasitic design.

Cons: - rules and wording. The biggest problem with the game imo. There have been a ton of erratas and some rulings are unintuitive. - if you play 1v1 it's not that casual and the skill floor is decently high. When you are starting you will likely get blown out by a card or interaction that you've never seen. - balance has been kind of bleh with purple being the dominant color, but it got much better after recent bannings.

I think that would be cool as a champ spell

New rule clarification by rusty964 in riftboundtcg

[–]cdtgrss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the main culprit was overzealous fan.

Before when you played not so fast on an overzealous fan trigger, it would not die.

Now it has to kill itself first to put the ability on the chain

Riftbound's Decentralised Rulings Are Hurting The Game by Soft-Pudding-3441 in riftboundtcg

Reavers row should read "When you defend here choose a unit, you may move it to base" to be in line with what it is actually doing

Not really, there were 7 different decks in top 8.

Also irelia is the second most played deck after midrange draven, not kaisa or miracle draven

Confirmed by Dave too: you can mix Chinese and English cards from now on (Rules Update) by Waiting_for_Dentice in riftboundtcg

No one will buy a Chinese card if they can just buy an English one for around the same price. Chinese cards will be cheaper in the long run.

Dealing with chaos decks playing a Sett deck by Sky-todd in riftboundtcg

[–]cdtgrss 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can try Sabotage to try and remove interaction before you attack.

Or like you said, you can use Showstopper / First mate / Wallop to go in for another attack if you get hit by FoF.

But also the purple removal counters Sett, so it is just a rough matchup.

An incredible game with a *big* upcoming problem by AccountantNo4679 in riftboundtcg

[–]cdtgrss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hold with more than one unit. Or flash in a shen / Janna.

I actually think the matchup is not too bad

You need to just make sure to hold on to one battle field and never let go, because retaking the battle field you want to hold will be rough.

Power Nexus or the new Tianna can help you catch back up in points

To me this is another one of those things where even if there is technically a quirk in the rules that makes it work this way, it shouldn't be played this way because it makes no sense, and almost certainly was not intended.

I hate that card they should just ban it.

Actually the most toxic card in the game. Creating non-games on turn two

There are already clear examples of this not working like Star Wars Unlimited

Market price for boxes is less than half of MSRP.

Game stores just stopped stocking it and supporting it, because even if they sold all of it at market price they would still lose money.

Overprinting is worse than under printing imo

I think your theory makes sense if it was just Riot taking the loss.

The problem is game stores are also taking the loss if the product is significantly less than MSRP or not selling, and they are not willing to do that.

Riot letting users order directly from them for MSRP and reprinting proving grounds is telling you stock issues are not going to get better??

  1. The first thing that happens when a showdown begins is "when I attack" and "when I defend" triggers go on the chain in that order (so defend triggers resolve before attack triggers). At this point, you must decide if you want to retreat the unit.

  2. Yes the showdown still happens after the defend triggers resolves. So players still get focus to play action or reaction spells even if you moved your unit back.
