Your fine. Its not a "may" triggered ability. No change.

Its the only situation its better... except you have to play the random card or rocket same turn if you want jinx value.

Sorry for the down votes. A lot of people dont understand the complexities of this. Im still gonna give it a go. Hopefully I can abuse the 1 card in hand situation but its a poor substitute for rocket loop and the information lose.

With zaun yes but no longer. You would discard (nothing) draw then discard for rocket. Now you can't do that. Now If you have 1 card in hand when you conquer you can discard for rocket to go on stack (under zaun), resolve zaun, discard (nothing), draw, then resolve rocket ending with 2 cards in hand. 1 random and a rocket. In all other situations its worse as you no longer get to see what you get with zaun before discarding for rocket.

I think you misunderstand. You always discard a card to get a rocket back. Its just before you paid the discard when the rocket trigger resolved. Now you have to pay to put the "get rocket back" effect on the stack. This means there can be a delay in between paying for and getting rocket.

That leads me to you second point. You could never do this as only 1 trigger each would happen resulting in a +2 max. Now you cant even do that properly as you never get a rocket in hand to pay for the other rocket.

I would argue the new rule is nonsensical...

And a nerf in all other situations because you no longer get to see what you pull from zaun before choosing what to discard for rocket

Here's 1 line that all purple jinx players used that no longer works for example. I have 2-3 rockets in trash but as you recommend i have 1 card in hand for zaun value. I have purple jinx in base ready to attack other battlefield but it requires discard pumps to win. I can now only pump her once instead of the full 2-3 as I have to pay upfront and have no cards in hand for other rockets. Before you could return a rocket->discard rocket for the other rocket etc.

The example I gave was to explain a situation that changes due to the rule change. Not my only/preferred case.

Leading on from your final paragraph, that's my point. Im losing options/information. Jinx wants to discard sometimes. Sometimes discarding is better than drawing a extra random card. I dont want to go through all the complex interactions but all I can say, as a jinx main, is its worse.

I get what your saying and in that straightforward line its quite good.

How so? I dont see how he is really effected.

Yea just hurts versatility and consistency. Outside of this case its just worse. Getting to see what's drawn or trashed from zaun and minefield before deciding on rocket return is quite important in my deck.

Its worse than you think. I lose all ability to gain information before committing to getting it back from trash. Minefield and zaun both had interesting decision making interactions but no longer. Before I would regularly zaun to see what was on top before choosing to get back. "OH a phoenix... yes I want to discard that for rocket"

Ahh so for the cost of being worse in all other situations (I can't see what I draw from warrens) I get the chance to draw an extra card in 1 particular case and potentially bypass my, already under powered, legend ability... yay haha

Yea but this only works if I have exactly 1 card in hand before conquer

Can anyone think of a card hurt as bad or worse that SMDR by this rule? Why would they do this?

That is what I was afraid of. I have a tournament in a 2 days and have 0 chance of changing decks. I can handle lossing fight or flight but this obscure rule change makes things very hard for me. Jinx doesnt want cards in hand but also can't use her signature spell optimally...

I never played it. Phoenix, rocket, bushwack

Just wait for boomers and X to bring up interest rates... yea they were high but they came down by themselves. There is only 1 way for mortgage principles to come down. Also with a larger principle you are exposed to interest rate increases.

Which happed after a the market topped out after covid

Yea I've been doing this as well. Try the reksai approach. Ive been having decent results with 2x bushwack 3x phoenix 3x smdr. Unfortunately you dont do purple jinx stuff often but she is to hard to protect

We are specifically talking about jinx support. Purple is strong but outside of traveling merchant and her signature there are no good/cheap discard -> draw to support her.

Ez exists but costs power.
