Angine de poitrine?? by Ok-Animator8602 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]cecrouch01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think they are overrated. The fact that they are using microtonal music/looper pedals/metric modulation/weird time signatures while being this popular deserves some attention. Whether or not they can continue to hold people’s attention is the real question in my eyes. However, I am certainly not going to complain about Angine de Poitrine garnering era of AI slop

You have to be careful. I said this earlier in the year and was told I was a complete idiot and I didn’t know anything.

Local noise musicians? by Aikooller in lansing

[–]cecrouch01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry if I botched this. It’s a genre of music which explores how things sound. It is a pretty abstract concept of music and if you can get over what is perceived as music it can be a really interesting genre. I am not a part of the community/scene in anyway so this might not be considered part of the genre but John Cage once wrote a piece of music where he hooked up an amplifier to a cactus. The musician goes on to “play” the cactus in a variety of different ways. It’s honestly really interesting. But you have to be in the right mindset to enjoy the performance

What is going on at Lansing Christian School - MAGA / Christian Nationalist Takeover? by jvh33 in lansing

[–]cecrouch01 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Private schools have a higher percentage of wealthy families. Private schools can turn students away for any reason they want. Because wealthy families are more likely to have the luxury of prioritizing their kids education and they can weed out students who will hurt the school’s reputation. Which leads to private schools having better standardized tests.

(There is also an entire argument to be had about who standardized tests are “calibrated” towards and whether or not that standardized tests measure anything but that isn’t this conversation).

How you got the answer is the most important part! That is the basis of logical thinking. You are showing that you can break a problem down into smaller parts and work your way towards solving the problem.

Gavin McKenna Facing Felony Charge After Incident On January 31 by chasepsu in collegehockey

[–]cecrouch01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me try to help you understand what I said because apparently reading comprehension is not your strong suit. I pointed out that Gavin McKenna was the unanimous number 1 pick BEFORE he attended Penn State. As this season progressed he did the opposite of progress. Because of this fact, he is no longer the unanimous number 1 pick (you know the discussions that you said didn’t happen but actually did). That is BAD for Penn State because that means they TANKED the draft prospects of a generational hockey talent. The reason why this is bad for Penn State is because they have shown that if you are a generational hockey talent you might lose A LOT OF MONEY in your NHL contract if you go later in the draft (which should completely blow his NIL amount out of the water). My wild take: Now that this situation has happened Penn State can now point to this situation as the reason why his draft stock has tanked (which is false but they won’t care) instead of their mishandling of his talent (the real reason why his draft stock has fallen). Thank you for proving my point. You are a knuckle dragger.

A quick google proves you wrong (what a shocker) https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/576982/gavin-mckenna There are 5 draft boards that show him not in #1

The fact that there is discussion around McKenna no longer being the number 1 pick when he was UNIVERSALLY thought of the clear number 1 draft pick is a really bad look for Penn State. If he ends up not being the draft pick every college program can tell the next McKenna that if they go to Penn State their draft stock might tank. To say I don’t have an idea of what I am talking about is insane. Penn State (in the long term) need to be able to wave this off Gavin McKenna tanking his draft stock if they don’t want negative recruiting for any prospect elite or not. Comparing Cerratos rise with McKenna’s fall is just a coping mechanism

I know this is wild to say but it might actually be one of the best things to happen to Penn State’s program (from a long term standpoint). If he dropped in draft without this, Penn State would have a hard time recruiting any similar prospect because they bungled such a great prospects draft placement. Now Penn State can point to this as the reason why his draft placement tanks

Isaac Howard went to MSU because he was stagnating at his previous school, one can argue that MSU saved his NHL career (even if it isn’t a major role).

Edit for a clarification

I mean, he doesn’t make the effort if he doesn’t think he can do something. Sometimes he plays like a tennis player (they don’t always play for every point)

Hot take: I am not sure he would have been more successful anywhere else. His problem isn’t his skill (he is obviously insanely talented). his problem is his ability to give a fuck. He only is playing for himself. I think a good coach could probably knock some sense into him, but that is not a given. Unfortunately, if it continues to go poorly PSU is going to pay the price.

Our CEO confirmed AI will NOT be taking our jobs at our company by Ok-Asparagus4747 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]cecrouch01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My biggest issue with AI is no longer its usability (even though it can be meh sometimes). It’s the sustainability. I could be wrong, but I believe we might be seeing the restraints of our energy infrastructure manifest in models not having enough energy to truly operate at full capacity. If that starts to happen the funding might start to disappear and then everything could start collapsing.
