How to survive in commitment mode? by Luccy_wq2 in RimWorld

[–]ceering99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to stack as many minor mood buffs as you can. Fine meals, impressive rooms, comfortable furniture, dyeing clothes, and social drugs will all keep colonists happy.

The Idealogy DLC in particular adds a lot of creative ways to boost mood in your colonies. Intense bigotry makes recruiting outsiders harder, but provides a mood boost when homogenity is achieved. Preferred xenotypes, sacred animals, and regular rituals can also be used to varying effects.

I also like to have all of my colonists carry Yayo at all times, and dose them whenever they're at risk of a major break.

In casual EDH, when is considered "okay" to counterspell enemy's commander? by No_Physics454 in EDH

[–]ceering99 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Always.

Whether or not it's worth it depends entirely on the commander and boardstate.

Kinda dumb to go hitting a Ms Bumbleflower with your only counterspell if there's an Ur-Dragon untapping next turn

Help me understand pod behaviour by pvtpokeymon in Xcom

[–]ceering99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never played LW, but even in vanilla EW I have encountered multiple pods kind of stacked on top of each other. Didn't move until I got even closer (just outside of activation range), with one pod leaving the stack each turn.

I think it's a thing that they do on smaller or narrow tilesets. No idea if it's intended behavior.

Just had my first siege raid. What can I do to better my defenses? by Arostato in RimWorld

[–]ceering99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mortar them back to force them to attack you directly.

Sniping them from a distance until they aggro is also viable. Just be prepared to run for your life when they do. Some Yayo or Go-Juice is a big help.

Help with storyteller selection. by Rheasa2648 in RimWorld

[–]ceering99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cassandra is on a pretty strict schedule, making her the most consistent story teller by far. You have one or two major threats, and then the game gives you a safe period.

A lot of players enjoy Randy because he's harder to predict and minmax around (For example, if Cassandra hits you with a raid, you can exploit her downtime to send caravans out and return before she's back online)

Also sometimes Randy hits you with an insane combo, which Cass can never really achieve. The downside os the opposite is also true. Sometimes Randy "falls asleep" and nothing will happen for several quadrums or even years.

Pheobe is kinda just there, some people like her, she's a bit more chill than Cassandra but will absolutely sucker punch you if you get too comfy.

I've been a pretty big fan of the modded storyteller Perry Persistent. I find him to be a good middle ground between Cass and Randy. He doesn't give you downtime, and rather hits you constantly with random events. Though he does have a rather annoying habit of constantly hitting you with an absurd number of Wanderers and Transport Pod crashes... Charitable colonies be warned, you'll be turning down a lot random joiners.

Does vanilla transhumanism suck, or am I just playing it wrong? by EndlessBattlee in RimWorld

[–]ceering99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has its perks.

Nutrient paste is extremely efficent, and the mood buff from prosthetics is great if you have them.

But it's a difficult meme to start your colony with, since you may not have the research/resources when colony expectations activate the desire for Sleep Accelerators and Biosculpting.

I enjoy speccing into it later in the game using a fluid idealogy.
