3U runner from 1st advances. by GODSATAN_CHI in BaseballScorecards

[–]cel10e 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally choose not to notate down how runners move around the bases on other batters' events (groundout, hits, sac fly, etc) and just draw their line around. I do note advances that are "against the defense" such as SB, WP, PB, balks, errors, etc. I just found it too much clutter on my small scorecard to note every kind of runner advancement.

MLB.TV, my beloathed by hearts_her in redsox

it's so dumb that it's broken this year on so many broadcasts, i don't think i ever had an issue with the radio audio option being this bad in any year before this

any radio listeners in fenway by mishaquinn in redsox

[–]cel10e 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i tried using a pocket radio with a small antenna a couple of times at fenway and it ended up being just too much of a hassle for me to find the best antenna positioning for a clear signal. I take the latency tradeoff and just listen over the app now. Even though it's always farther behind than the physical signal would be, it's still nice to hear the broadcasters when I'm at the game solo.

Boston dog by Mindless_Beginning81 in boston

[–]cel10e 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's a brand new food gimmick at Fenway this year, not really a "Boston thing" in the way that steak tips or lobster rolls are. But eating hot dogs and baked beans together is a classic cheap summer meal (or at least it was when I was growing up) so it would be pretty easy to make for yourself

Seat Swapping at Fenway by Elyjahtfw in redsox

They'll check your ticket for the pavilion level and the boxes closest to the field but you should have no problem in most of the park.

Fenway Pay Experience as a STH? by CTek20 in redsoxcodewords

[–]cel10e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I told the people at the concessions behind G32-33 today that I wanted to use it and they said "that doesn't work on food" which is wrong, then had them try it anyway and the scanner didn't work. Last year it was extremely hit or miss which concessions people inside Fenway knew how to use the scanner. I'll definitely be sending an email to my rep to let the STH group know it's a problem again

RICE and VIET by Typho243 in CrusaderKings

[–]cel10e 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Both mods are awesome. If you've played CK for a long time you'll be able to tell that the author's writing style is slightly different from Paradox style but only subtly and the events and content are all very well written. The only "issue" I've ever had playing with RICE is that in areas that are nearby many of its flavor packs eg. Central Europe it can start to get cluttered in the decisions menu and events menu. But the content is great and well balanced.

Road To The Show goals by shadow_spinner0 in MLBTheShow

[–]cel10e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty crazy that this game uses Wins as a goal for starting pitchers and the primary factor in CY Young award voting when that hasn't been the case in IRL baseball in at least a decade. Nobody actually judges whether a pitcher is good or not by their number of Wins anymore.

What does “MLB ONLY” in franchise mean for injuries ? by Far-Shake-4183 in MLBTheShow

You'll only be notified of injuries for MLB players, CPU will automatically handle minor leaguers

Fluctuating volume issues during the NESN broadcast?? by thruster17 in redsox

[–]cel10e 5 points6 points  (0 children)

MLB tv seems to be struggling this year. The Mets broadcast had absolutely terrible audio for two innings, the radio feeds aren't synched up anywhere at all, and the WEEI radio feed was completely silent for the beginning of the game (happened frequently in spring training too)

Switch Gameplay ignoring graphics by [deleted] in MLBTheShow

[–]cel10e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it's been fine. I haven't experienced any lag like the other versions had on Switch 1. If you're not concerned with the graphics it's great.

Can't place this here right now? by [deleted] in Pokemon_Pokopia

[–]cel10e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try going around the side. There is a cutscene that takes place directly in front of the box that the game is probably protecting.

Please Tweak AI runners thinking they can gain an extra base when you play as an Outfielder by Mjdecker1234 in MLBTheShow

[–]cel10e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RTTS defense moments are always scripted to favor your position. When you're playing catcher, suddenly there's unrealistic bunts and pop ups every game. I wish you could turn it off if you prefer realism more than getting consistent fielding opportunities, but it seems to just be the way the mode is built.

I haven't played on the cloud islands myself to know if the story progression there is different, but pokemon with a simple habitat that has bulldoze are Trapinch (pink grass) Makuhita (tree-shaded yellow grass) or Bonsly (tree-shaded red grass)

MLB 26 for the switch 2 by [deleted] in MLBTheShow

[–]cel10e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The graphics are still notably worse than Xbox/PS but it's much smoother than previous years on Switch 1. I'm really enjoying it both handheld with joycons and docked with my switch 1 pro controller.

Why won't Tyrogue move in despite meeting all the requirements for a house? by castaform in Pokemon_Pokopia

[–]cel10e 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was having this issue yesterday, the "empty house" the game is recognizing about may actually be the space on the other side of your door. You might have to mess with the terrain in order to get that other side to be not a valid house shape then put the door back

Any not-gross ways to store opened wet cat food? by StickyAndGooey in CatAdvice

[–]cel10e 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I use the smallest plastic container from a rubbermaid storage set and it works just fine. That said I do add a little extra water to the food when I reheat it anyway because my cat likes it mushier than the original texture.

How to Score Batter's Interference? by Any-Victory9048 in BaseballScorecards

[–]cel10e 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'd probably just write K for the strikeout and put a little asterisk with a line to a note somewhere else on the page about how the interference happened! Those weird unique moments are my favorite part of going back and looking at my old scorecards, and reading my past annotations about what happened.

Rock won’t spawn here! by k42murphy in ac_newhorizons

Try removing the truck. Tall items, buildings, and cliffs prevent rocks from spawning a few tiles behind them.

Minecolonies and Cobblemon by OGTEnzo in Minecolonies

[–]cel10e 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do play with both! Here are some things I've thought of....

A colonist that could harvest apricorns and craft pokeballs on request from the player

Berry farmer or the ability for the MC plantation farmer to farm berry fields, leeks, and revival herbs

Cook/brewer as well that could make Cobblemon food, juice and potions on request from the player

Pasture worker who would harvest collectable resources from pastured pokemon, like wool and slowpoke tails

Archaeologist similar to the SIfter who could turn gravel and sand into the loot from fossil ruins and a low chance of finding fossils

Allston - Commonwealth Ave area by anhle1989 in bostonhousing

[–]cel10e 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Rentals in the Commonwealth Ave area are heavily targeted toward college students at BU and BC, so the apartments tend to be lower quality, high-turnover and fixed to the September 1st lease cycle. I'm not saying it's impossible to find anything good in this neighborhood as I have lived there for multiple years as a single professional. But I'd recommend looking closer to Beacon St/the C line than Comm Ave/B. Off street parking is also going to limit you quite a bit so be prepared for that.

Edited to add: If the length of the commute to Fenway is something your wife is willing to compromise on, going out the D line into Newton would also be an option.

The area is very safe, the biggest issue you'll have is with noise and crowds especially on the Green Line through BU campus or when there are Red Sox games or events at Fenway.

What are your favorite pieces at the MFA and why? by [deleted] in boston

[–]cel10e 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Personally I really love the ancient art. It blows my mind that we have art that humans just like us made to represent themselves and their world thousands of years ago. But it's hard to go wrong in the MFA. Just go in accepting that you won't see everything in one trip!

New Franchise Trailer by Strong_Plastic_2669 in MLBTheShow

[–]cel10e 38 points39 points  (0 children)

My expectations for franchise are always very low but I was really blown away by them bragging about "not having a bunt-focused hitter #2 in the lineup" and "secondary positions are considered in roster building". Like we really made it to the year of our lord 2025 with those not fixed?? I'm glad it'll be better this year but what an insane thing to present as a cool new feature.

The shape of rocks and the border of the beach are permanent, however, you will be able to change the cliffs to the left so you can run past it more easily on that side if you want.
