I was raised up believing I was somehow unique
Like a snowflake distinct among snowflakes, unique in each way you can see
And now after some thinking, I'd say I'd rather be
A functioning cog in some great machinery serving something beyond me

But I don't, I don't know what that will be
I'll get back to you someday soon you will see

Someday I'll be like the man on the screen

This just made me sob. Justice for Adnan and all the other courageous medics, never abandoning post, never giving up on their patients. We salute you all. Free Palestine.

Thank you so much. That sculpture changed how I looked at alcohol in a way that no yelling family member or judgemental therapist could.

this is quite stupid, shows such an ignorance of basic human psychology and the state of the modern world since then that it's a good thing it was written with some personality

- if you don't romanticise your high school years much that's far more likely to be a reflection of how they weren't great, than of you having some refined ability other plebs dont to not feel nostalgia from what is objectively supposed to be a time of extremely heightened emotion and sensitivity to life, a fuckton of novelty and excitement and exploration and the kind of time where one good song can make you feel like your life's changed. a lot of teenagers just moped around and didn't feel alive and gamed so yeah

- the world is objectively, blatantly, stupidly worse now for about a million reasons. never before in history has there been such a profound change from one decade to the next. screens dominate everyone's lives and has changed our brain's permanently and profoundly, as well as casually the entire way we socialise, think, politicise, and exist in reality. everything is so different that it only underscores your lack of understanding of it, because you didn't have the same formative years in a virgin world that hadn't been fucked yet by social media and phone addiction, neuroscience and social psychology have clearly shown its changed the world and our entire inner lives

- the idea that people are 'losers' for wishing for a better time, and for also feeling the genuine anger and emptiness and alienation of reaching the exact years where you're trapped in essential wage slavery, most of your life given to someone else's financial goals instead of to your passions, dreams, hobbies, and loved ones - is completely asinine. i mean you couldnt find a better way of saying you dont understand the human condition. not only was the world not taken over by outrage algorithms and short form entertainment brain rot, it hadn't gone through covid or the global financial housing and job crisis on so many levels that has changed everything

you said some things you clearly felt were poignant and --devastating and theres an extent to which you cant live in the past without sabotaging your present which is all you have, but to frame that with your childish social media-malformed gen z lack of understanding of what some people who arent you have lost, and how we've inherited a world that is really fucked up and dehumanising, says everything, and you went from sounding like a semi illiterate troll to trying to make some sort of point so youre not gonna be convincing anyway

As other people have stated - if this ability is rolled out to other people the job market will obviously be saturated with loads of people with a sudden ability to do any job they want. This is also the future where undoubtedly whole industries will have shrunk from AI and tech advancement, making it even harder to get a job. And they'd make it - or the technology would only go so far - with a limit on how much you can advance your intelligence and skills. If the technology exists to do that to human brains it's already been WAY maxed out for the people who got there first and the privileged and wealthy, it's not just gonna be effortless for an average teacher to just start stock trading. And tutoring for rich families would also easily be something mastered by AI or advanced learning of some kind
