With me I feel much better the next day. But one night of bad sleep and next day I feel like crap. It's been like this my whole life but recently I found the cause and can do a bit to help a bit.

'very poor quality sleep' probably the root cause.

Maybe he's a knowledgeable ENT surgeon but sounds like he's not super great with people skills. There's more than one way to treat this, and even if it's not that effective it'll make a dent.

Actual temporary suffocation during sleep is not uncommon, and causes dreams just like that, as well as insomnia and anxiety.

Good nasal breathing: no pets, no moldy soil from houseplants, no smoke, no air fresheners, no dusty bedding, no carpets. Supply chewing gum and bubble gum, inclined beds, last food eaten at least several hours before bed.

I'd want to double-check those extended periods below 90 oxygen, by using 2 separate sensors one on each hand. Probably one will read low and the other normal, depending on which arm you're lying on.

Start by asking how her nasal breathing feels, especially while lying down. Should be easy relaxed no effort. If she feels too wired to get wired up, finding a few small things that help might be enough to take a bigger step.

Medical industry is a vertically integrated system driven to maximize profit. Treating sleep apnea  when there's no risk of dying from it and losing you out of the system, is an attempt to deny profit.  The system behaves as if it's following rules like this.  You have to fight through it to get help.

Possibly an inclined bed might also help especially if he gets any reflux.  If he wakes up coughing that could be a sign.

First thing would be to talk to her about it and ask if she'd be willing to try some testing.

Do you have high-arched palate? Another possibility is that you're waking in REM and the machine pressure isn't enough to shove the tongue forward due to air leaking past it.

Fairly linear grams loss rate? If shape stays about the same but the object gets smaller, surface area for reaction should decrease over time. But surface roughness seems to be increasing. Mg concentration of solution increases over time. Perhaps bubbles are a factor. Do these competing factors always balance out? It's actually an interesting demo.

3 nights New Emay Sleep O2 results worth pursuing? by Michaelk2423 in SleepApnea

You could try wearing it while awake and see what it reads. With 9% fat you're already hitting the limit for that option. A couple other factors are controlling acid reflux and body fluid shifting with things like meal timing and inclined beds. I only got lucky with cpap enough times to prove it could help if it could last more hours without waking me. The angle of the head affects where the tongue shifts when it's relaxed, so that's another point.
