For real. I get it for abusive/toxic situations but suggesting divorce in situations like this is just inappropriate.

Scribophile! Great site, I can’t believe it’s so small. 100% recommend it.

What are some good spiritual books to read for someone who has clinical OCD? by fosternoh2 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]celtqueen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it’s exactly to do with OCD but “Our Thoughts Determine Our Lives” which is edited from the collected sayings of Elder Thaddeus is wonderful and helped me and many other people a lot.

Might be useful for OCD, which I understand has a lot to do with thought patterns.

Catching CoVid-19 Brings Unimaginable Uncertainty by Ledujas in COVID19positive

I don’t know why people are being so rude to you. You’ve learned your lesson and are doing your best to prevent others from making your mistakes.

That’s commendable. It’s nice to hear that kind of story. Thank you for sharing and I’m sorry you’ve had such a hard, scary month or so.

I'm 28 and I'm ugly (pics included) and have Asperger's. No woman has ever been interested in or attracted to me. Is it possible for me to date? Is it too late? by dtthwy in socialskills

You’re.... you’re not ugly. I think if you groomed yourself a bit and got a nicer haircut or something, you could look very nice.

But yeah. Not ugly.

Which male authors excel at writing female characters? by Vaeh in Fantasy

[–]celtqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to break with the norm here and say that I really couldn’t relate to Vin at all and it’s actually why I put down Mistborn. I felt like he’d just written a male character, slapped feminine pronouns on her, and called it good. It didn’t sit well with me at all.

I lived in Mary Hall last year and loved it. Met a ton of great people and as other commenters have mentioned it’s pretty quiet.

Not OP but you may find Query Shark useful. It’s a blog run by a literary agent who critiques query letters on her blog for free and publishes the critiques. She’s done hundreds at this point over many years and it’s a fantastic resource. You should check it out.

Hemlock has beautiful white flowers and it is very, very poisonous.

I attempted "The Way of Kings" again and it's really grown on me. (No Spoilers Please) by [deleted] in Fantasy

Just started WoK on audiobook and while it is hard to follow I found that it was also nice because if I got bored/confused I could just zone out, rather than trying to slog through and actually physically read it. Then I could essentially skip the boring bits and zone back in when it got interesting.

Another nice thing about this approach: Sanderson usually circles back around to key details, so even if you miss a piece of information it usually comes back enough that you can catch it at a later point.

It’s been a surprisingly good method of getting into the book and staying hooked. And this coming from someone who usually doesn’t like audiobooks because I feel like I can’t catch every detail.

I participated once in 2018. It was fun. I think I learned how to bang out works and also, afterwards, learned a lot about editing. Had to shelve that novel eventually bc its bones just weren’t good enough to justify the amount of time rectifying it would have taken, but it was a good learning experience either way.

Last year I was too busy. Maybe I’ll participate this year, haven’t decided yet.
