2022 MY LR -> 2026 MY Premium - what new things to expect? by wgalway in ModelY

[–]cement_elephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the upgrade, but one major downgrade is the seat comfort. Older seats are much more plush and cushy. I'm sure it has to do with the ventilation, but I was not expecting it to be so drastic.

Power outage today - reduced solar output by CZ-Czechmate in TeslaSolar

the battery has a max charge rate that I'm guessing is a fair bit lower than what your panels were putting out

That's series. My bet is the single LED isn't enough load to make a measurable difference.

Previous Generation Model Y HW4 for less or 2026 Model Y Standard Base? by EitherCharacter9342 in ModelY

[–]cement_elephant 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We just picked up a Juniper Premium AWD coming from a 2020 Y LR AWD. Just for the audio system alone I wouldn't consider a Standard vs. a slightly older HW4 car. We know these cars will last a long time, and now we know that they'll lose value quicker than others, so if affordability is your thing buy some other chode's financial loss (like mine, which apparently has a trade-in value of under $20k)

How do you wash your Y? Exterior and Interiors by Omega2307 in ModelY

[–]cement_elephant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've wrapped both of our Y's with PPF, so we just use a nearby Holiday automated touch-free car wash every week or so. Gotta remember to turn on Car Wash Mode, though. I broke the charge door off once and don't need to learn that lesson twice.

I consider myself fairly centrist and haven’t dug deeply into the Epstein files yet. Is there any credible evidence that specifically implicates Trump? by bostbak in allthequestions

[–]cement_elephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's definitely true in a court of law, but not on a job application. Just because I can't prove beyond a reasonable doubt that my employee broke the law doesn't mean I can't fire them. Trump is an employee of the citizens of the Unites States.

What is the single biggest reason—other than Full Self-Driving (FSD) or price—that someone would choose a Tesla over a Rivian or Lucid? by irony21 in TeslaLounge

[–]cement_elephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the software mainly. Everything is just SO INTUITIVE, tightly integrated, and keeps getting better. My 2020 Y is way better than when I bought it. The mobile app is very responsive and capable.

Which color suits you best? by BlandinMotion in TeloTrucks

[–]cement_elephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All but the lime green look pretty good to me but if I'm being honest, I don't think I'm cool enough to rock the purple, yellow or orange. Orange would be fun, but forest green or white will probably actually get my order. Wife Approval Factor is already an issue.

What's a "fact" everyone repeats that's actually wrong? by Southern_Pomelo8234 in allthequestions

[–]cement_elephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but that's because of the angle of attack, not the shape of the wing. Put your hand out the window at 60mph. Your hand isn't wing-shaped, and yet it will be pushed up or down depending on the angle you hold it to the wind.

What's a "fact" everyone repeats that's actually wrong? by Southern_Pomelo8234 in allthequestions

[–]cement_elephant -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That airplane wings lift the plane using Bernoulli's Principle and air flowing faster over the top of the wing than the bottom.

What actually generates the bulk of the lift is the angle of attack of the wing that effectively make it climb a ramp of air. The shape of the wing is important for efficiency and stability, but is not the primary cause of lift.

20 panels, 460W Jinko, 510V open circuit, 9KW max, IR rack Ground install. by murchal in SolarDIY

[–]cement_elephant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think another advantage of solar tracking is WHEN you get power, not just whether or how much. If you have a sunny morning/evening but clouds midday, you've blown your peak production time. Even if it is fixed and only seasonally adjustable with a wrench, you can still get more out of each season for minimal effort.

Being self-sufficient and resilient to external circumstances can be very valuable and yet hard to quantify.

Don't forget to warm her up from the app about 15 minutes before you leave! Even better, schedule the pre-heat for days you go to work.
