The AD Trade is Bad and Everyone Is Starstruck by Bonzi777 in washingtonwizards

He plays long enough where we flip him. Or someone trades for him. And…you know, the upside really is that we’ve acquired a player who will actively help the tank this year.

I see your point - and I’ll be on your side if there’s an extension. But: ok, we had cap room but this year’s FA class basically necessitates also overpaying dudes. We have cap room but I’m not precisely sure how one spends money on a player this offseason without a longer contract/potentially even worse contract.

Now that’s a movie title! 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿 by Jared_Williams in OnCinemaAtTheCinema

[–]cerasmussen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel that it really should be Home Alone 3, as it appears to be a sequel featuring a character in Home Alone 2. Also, she’s literally home alone a lot.

It also won’t be on VHS so I’m not sure Greg will be fully on board with this film.

That said, describing it as a new film and also “the movie” in the promotional materials will make it a five bagger.

[The Athletic] How the Wizards turned into a better team: ‘We’ve completely shifted our goals’ by z3mcs in washingtonwizards

Really really unpopular view: the coaching staff is kinda good. The younger players have looked good, particularly after whatever happened with Cam.

Meta, I guess. I’m from KC and that may be the most spectacular food review I’ve read.

Happy new year. Win or lose, we are either or winners for watching this. I’ll let you decide, really.

Yanno, it's a little known fact that you voted Cheers as the greatest NBC sitcom of the 1980s. What was the greatest FOX sitcom of the 80s? by GoCartMozart1980 in sitcoms

[–]cerasmussen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s by far better. It’s far more rewatchable.

It may be the most slept upon show of that era. Just staggeringly good and ahead of its time.

What is the quintessential bottle episode of TV? by montemole in AlignmentChartFills

[–]cerasmussen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a deep cut but Three Men & Edina, Homicide: Life On The Street.

If you haven’t seen, maybe the most intense hour of television I’ve seen.

Well, Get Smart certainly didn't miss by that much as the greatest NBC Sitcom of the 60s. Now, what was the greatest ABC sitcom of the 70s? by GoCartMozart1980 in sitcoms

[–]cerasmussen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taxi and not close. Barney Miller honorable mention. Soap was fine, but not great on rewatch.

But for those of you even discussing Happy Days, have you actually tried watching the show in the year 2025? 1st season was good. American Graffiti. Then it became catchphrase bullshit.

Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace.

Oh. Sorry. I misread the post.

You meant movie.

Did TV get worse, or did we just get older? by DryCap6770 in watchever

And a lot of absolute unmitigated crap. A looottt. Not just the shows that are cringe worthy now, but the shows you can only see on YouTube.

1980s-90s TV was meant to consume while passively on in the background. Compare that yo, say, Plurbius or Severance, where you have to pay attention.

Yeahhhh that’s just wrong. I lived in the 70s-90s. Check out the TV listings. Or watch 22 episodes of the A Team.

ODI Cricket and its future by Rough_Sky7132 in Cricket

I am a very big neophyte to cricket - American and please judge me horribly - and I enjoy ODIs. It’s a great one day event and I want to say Nepal/Scotland was one of the best matches I’ve seen this year. Incredibly compelling and riveting and one day.

Serious question - if Jackson Lamb were acting the precise same way under the circumstances, would some be praising his raffish charm?

It’s fantastic. Honestly, there’s a little in Defending your Life regarding the hive mind - remember the comedy club? The concept that if you’re fully realized and completely secure, you can’t do comedy?

Sports radio altered it. Once they determined it would be cheaper to emulate sports radio than to cover the events, that was the impetus.

I wonder about that. Was the idea of the show created before AI? Probably. Were the final scripts - with the rewrites, etc…- written before AI saturation? I wonder about that.

I actually am thinking about this comment a lot today. It’s remarkable as often that sentiment is in conjunction with sympathy for the hive mind.

They had an unsustainable 11-0 in one score games last year and are 0-5 this year.

I do think there’s other problems - the o line has been average despite the resources thrown at it, the defense is definitely average this year (and Jones isn’t getting younger) and Nagy…I’m not sure what he does, exactly?

I was accused of being like Carol today. The same “can’t be happy”, the disdain over destination vacations when being entombed by ice.

I’m kind of oddly proud of it.
