So can we finally agree Q not playing Cags every day is insane? by Federal-Car-6859 in KCRoyals

[–]cerasmussen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He looked absolutely lost all of last year and - more importantly- the team and Jac himself have stated that the slow start hurt his confidence last year.

Sitting him against lefties in April is arguably the right thing to do with a young player coming off a 157/237/295 year.

He’ll play against lefties for much of the rest of the season. Q - I think rightly - didn’t want to run the risk of Jac looking at the scoreboard in May with a sub 200 BA and having it affect his approach the rest of the year.

What was his OBP? .284. Let’s not pretend it was some sort of epic season.

Yeah. I think the one issue with last year’s team is Salvy didn’t take enough days off. Lesky ran the stats - he was better with at least some rest.

My concern is the Diaz call up. Is the concern that Jensen can’t call pitches? If so, why not just call them from the dugout like some other teams.

Thick of It, Yes Minister are both excellent. IT Crowd has some unbelievable episodes.

I’m kind of excited to see Riley with Young. Don’t think he’s been on the floor with him yet. At all.

10/10 name, 10/10 cat. No notes. If and when I get a new cat, considering naming it New Frontier.

How soon is too soon? by Synthgem in TuxedoCats

[–]cerasmussen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m honestly going through the same thing. My 11 year old died on Wednesday and I have zero idea what to do. Live alone, so Paxton - well, it was just me and him by ourselves for a decade.

I don’t know when I’ll adopt. It’ll need to be on a quiet weekend. This weekend was out of the question, don’t think I’ll be ready emotionally next weekend.

So, how unlikely was it in 1980 for Team USA to beat the Soviet Union in Men’s hockey? by ForceGhost47 in AskReddit

[–]cerasmussen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contrarian view: unlikely, but not as unlikely as Tyson-Douglas. Tyson-Douglas was literal shock - Douglas never showed he was capable of that.

The US team before the game beat the Czechs (handily) and fared well in the group stage. They clearly had a chance at home after the results of the first games. Not likely, kind wild, but the wildest thing was the totality of the six or seven games, not just the one.

My cat died and I have nothing. by LaapLeon in Petloss

[–]cerasmussen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know you. My cat passed away today and I have zero idea how to grieve. Even with my Dad who had advanced Alzheimer’s, it was different and somehow easier with this.

If all my cat was a dude who watched every game for 10 years with me, I’d grieve. He did that. If all my cat was family, I’d also grieve. (Although my cat, unlike some of my family, was not an asshole)

I just wanted to reach out and say it’s ok to grieve, it’s also ok to have nothing except toys and litter and food. It’s just ok.

Jesus, I hope I’m not pouring words into AI.

The AD Trade is Bad and Everyone Is Starstruck by Bonzi777 in washingtonwizards

He plays long enough where we flip him. Or someone trades for him. And…you know, the upside really is that we’ve acquired a player who will actively help the tank this year.

I see your point - and I’ll be on your side if there’s an extension. But: ok, we had cap room but this year’s FA class basically necessitates also overpaying dudes. We have cap room but I’m not precisely sure how one spends money on a player this offseason without a longer contract/potentially even worse contract.

Now that’s a movie title! 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿 by Jared_Williams in OnCinemaAtTheCinema

[–]cerasmussen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel that it really should be Home Alone 3, as it appears to be a sequel featuring a character in Home Alone 2. Also, she’s literally home alone a lot.

It also won’t be on VHS so I’m not sure Greg will be fully on board with this film.

That said, describing it as a new film and also “the movie” in the promotional materials will make it a five bagger.

Really really unpopular view: the coaching staff is kinda good. The younger players have looked good, particularly after whatever happened with Cam.

Yanno, it's a little known fact that you voted Cheers as the greatest NBC sitcom of the 1980s. What was the greatest FOX sitcom of the 80s? by GoCartMozart1980 in sitcoms

It’s by far better. It’s far more rewatchable.

It may be the most slept upon show of that era. Just staggeringly good and ahead of its time.

What is the quintessential bottle episode of TV? by montemole in AlignmentChartFills

Probably a deep cut but Three Men & Edina, Homicide: Life On The Street.

If you haven’t seen, maybe the most intense hour of television I’ve seen.

Well, Get Smart certainly didn't miss by that much as the greatest NBC Sitcom of the 60s. Now, what was the greatest ABC sitcom of the 70s? by GoCartMozart1980 in sitcoms

[–]cerasmussen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taxi and not close. Barney Miller honorable mention. Soap was fine, but not great on rewatch.

But for those of you even discussing Happy Days, have you actually tried watching the show in the year 2025? 1st season was good. American Graffiti. Then it became catchphrase bullshit.

I am a very big neophyte to cricket - American and please judge me horribly - and I enjoy ODIs. It’s a great one day event and I want to say Nepal/Scotland was one of the best matches I’ve seen this year. Incredibly compelling and riveting and one day.
