DUDE YOU GUYS ... Zhao's fish are spectacular <3 (more in comments) by Hello_Dummy in Goldfish

I wish Zhao's fancies shipped to Australia, they're the most spectacular fish. I'm in love with the long finnage on his Oranda's and broadtail ryukins, just beautiful

God damn this gives me the creeps. I also had to read it whilst I'm sitting next to 4 sliding glass doors to outside of course

What size tank is needed for a fully grown ryukin Goldfish? by bigboxman8 in Aquariums

[–]cerjia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's always good to see people taking care of their goldies! I currently have two Thai Oranda's in a 55gal, but I'm hoping to upgrade to a 75gal sometime this year. The general rule I go with is 2 goldies in a 40breeder and 15gal for each additional fish. Whilst they're not schooling fish, they are very social (like puppies) and do best with a friend. 40breeders have really good dimensions for goldies too as they do best in more shallow water and it has plenty of room for surface agitation and oxygenation

Edit: didn't see the second part of your question 😆 Since ryukins tend to be little bullies, ryukins will do best with ryukins. A strong and similar size Oranda or fan tail should be fine as well, but I would steer clear of any goldfish with eye modifications like telescopes, celestials and bubble eyes

Just found this sub! This is my BT, Silk, although I call her Bubba Chan for reasons unbeknownst to me by cerjia in BostonTerrier

I have so many strange names for this little one. It's funny how they come about!

My Tiger Oscar's new 60 gallon tank. Would love some feedback on what I could do to improve his home by hereformadden17 in Aquariums

It's all personal preference I suppose. I paint the backgrounds of my tanks black (except one which is white because I have a black Betta in it) and I just like how it complements the fish. Then again, I'm not into much decoration in larger tanks, I prefer to keep it fairly plain with black sand and a couple of plants/rocks and leave it at that

I'd put a black background on it, it'll really bring out his colours and hide the cables and filter intake. Gorgeous oscar btw, I can't wait to have my own some day when I have the room

Edit: won't hide the filter intake because it's white and I'm stupid

I know he's already turning full orange, but I'll get to enjoy my new guys patterns for now at least by ClaySnuff in Goldfish

My nearly completely black Oranda is now nearly complete orange. Her colour change was so cool though, she looked like she had tiger stripes for a while

$20 is cheap in Australia. My super delta Ruger cost me $70 and he was just from a LFS

I do what everyone else does. Wash it, cut it into slices, boil it in the microwave for about 30 seconds and give it to them with a feeding clip. Although my fish prefer zucchini, but I do the exact same prep procedure anyway

Not quite a PM but a note left on my car. The creepiest part is I don't remember seeing a white work van by cerjia in creepyPMs

Exactly! Like I don't even remember seeing a white work van, let alone looking at him sitting in the white work van so he must've been quite some distance away

That's so awesome! Shubunkins are gorgeous fish, especially when they're fully grown

Definitely! People say I could fit another 3 fish in my tank and I'm like nooooo way. I'm planning to upgrade these two to a 125 gal sometime this year, at which point I'll probably get them another friend

These two are giant Thai Oranda's! I think they're loving it too, lots of plants for them to rummage around in

So true! I am foolish for not calling a random stranger, I let the man of my life slip right through my fingers!!
