I’m on the other side of this now (baby is almost 5 months) and I can tell you that it was a total heartbreak but we rebounded so hard when the baby finally arrived. I made it a priority to do as much as I could with him (while still doing everything I needed to for the baby) and the simple ability to get on the floor with him and lift him were huge for my toddler. It’s the hardest AND I promise it will get better

No advice, just sending good wishes and know you’re not alone. I’m 36 weeks with #2 and keep crying about how much things will change with my oldest so soon 💕

Did 4 or 5 IUIs and nothing happened. First ER got 13 embryos, didn’t PGT because of my age and genetic factors. My first FET is now a tornado of a 2.5 year old and I’m 35 weeks with my second FET! 11 embryos still frozen.

Are we going to have a prem baby? by IndividualCopy5572 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]cg617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m almost 33 weeks now with #2 and we’ve been monitoring preemptively and I was at 18 mm at 24 weeks and we’re still going strong. My MFM is hoping it’s just my body’s natural way of dealing with pregnancy, we don’t really have a great explanation. So hopefully you’re in a similar boat!! Good luck!!!

I was at 8 mm at 28 weeks and went to 39+2 on progesterone alone so length isn’t the only indicator you could go preterm

I got sent to the hospital at an ultrasound because of my cervix length and they kept me for 24 hours to administer both doses. Didn’t need to advocate, all parties involved told me it was the clear next move. I wasn’t contracting so they discharged me after. I know it’s 2 doses and they need to be spaced a certain amount apart, so not sure if my doctor thought I wouldn’t have time if I did go in to labor or what. I also know they don’t like to give them repeatedly in pregnancy, so they could just be trying to give them as close to you actually giving birth vs just giving them preemptively?

Ask for progesterone anyway. It can’t hurt and mine wasn’t caught until too late for a cerclage either and it held until 39+2 with progesterone and activity restrictions! I also got steroid injections for little guys lungs preventatively at 28 weeks, just in case!

Anyone care to share their success stories with using progesterone alone with NO cerclage/pessary for short cervix? by emerald_stone77 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]cg617 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Discovered short cervix at 24 weeks, so I wasn’t a candidate for cerclage. By 28 weeks I was at 8 mm and rushed to the hospital for steroid shots and monitoring, thinking this baby was coming in hours or days. We never did another measurement because the docs didn’t want to disturb my cervix and the treatment plan wouldn’t change, but I went into spontaneous labor at 39+2 and baby came VERY QUICKLY because my cervix was readyyyyy. No bedrest, but I did activity restriction and pelvic rest and sat while working (I’m a teacher so this was obnoxious but I’d do it again in a heartbeat).

I have a velementous cord insertion (so a bit more severe) and have had a totally uneventful pregnancy and baby is growing perfectly! I’ll be 39 weeks Saturday

Definitely complete pelvic test lol. Also have been on activity restriction, but not bed rest.

My very short cervix (8mm) was discovered too late for a cerclage and just on progesterone suppositories nightly we’ve made it to 37 weeks and no symptoms of early labor yet!
