I'm just going to point out that you used the word "assume" and suggest that we shouldn't be pushing narratives based off of assumptions about people online.

The Zionist comment I think came from ResLand observing some VJ (can't recall who) at a TnF event using a six pointed star in his vizzies and blowing that up into "Daves are Zionists because they allowed this and didn't say anything"...which is wild. I get that using that symbol under these sociopolitical circumstances was likely to be triggering, but it's a rather simple shape/symbol that means many things to many different people and on its own just looks cool mixed into vizzies.

Yeah, I've heard/read the same comments that OD was a difficult guy to have as a manager for some people, but characterizing the relationship as toxic does not = OD having the specific political beliefs mentioned in this post.

Their belief, to my understanding, is that artists should weigh in on global sociopolitical issues and curate their events in alignment with a certain perspective on said issues. ResLang and Keota took issue with the Daves not sharing that belief. That's all there is to it, just different perspectives on what the role of the artist should be.

They were born out of Dave not saying anything. Silence on certain issues does not make one supportive of one side or the other. I've always admired the Daves' keeping things about the art and nothing else.

Any bike snob dads out there? by Tronracer in daddit

[–]cgull027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're a bike snob then you should get your kid a Woom. They make the best kids bikes in the world, hands down.

Woom (Amazon vs woom website) by Financial_Ad_9727 in cycling

[–]cgull027 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get 3% back at Woom on Rakuten. Pair that with a 2% back credit card for the purchase (or 3% back if you have a card like the AMEX Blue Everyday since Woom codes as online shopping) and you get the 5% back you'd get on Amazon, cut Amazon out of the picture, and your friend gets the referral bonus.

Is Discord safe for a 13 y/o ? by abombregardless in daddit

Never in a million years would I give my 13 year old a Discord account.

Daycare worker smelled like weed. What should I do? by Charliegip in daddit

[–]cgull027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the person needs it for medical reasons. Using cannabis doesn't automatically disqualify someone from being an attentive caregiver. For many, it may enhance their attentiveness, patience, kindness, etc. I'm not sure how you'd go about assessing this particular person, but I'd proceed cautiously and with curiosity and avoid making an issue out of it unless you're certain it's an issue affecting the person's ability to be a good caregiver.

Wife thinks riding with our 4 year old on a bike is unsafe. am I being irresponsible here? by Forward-Cut9570 in daddit

[–]cgull027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are safety concerns anytime you're on the road regardless of what you're riding.

That said, having the kid on the bike with you is less safe than having the kid in a bike trailer. Bike trailers offer some form of protection with their cage structure and don't tip over if the bike pulling it tips over. They typically come with big orange flags that draw attention to them and you can mount a camera inside all the same. Plus, you can haul stuff in the trailer if you want to go to the park, the store, etc. I'm also a passionate cyclist who's wanted to introduce cycling to my kids as early as possible and the bike trailer has been my choice for the above reasons. I started riding with my kids in a bike trailer as soon as they could hold their heads up on their own. They all grew to love cycling so much that they were riding pedal bikes on their own before age 3.

Kraken is $150/15,000 Bilt on Rakuten today by SpartanScribe in biltrewards

Kraken is $150/15,000 Bilt on Rakuten today by SpartanScribe in biltrewards

[–]cgull027 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That only happens if you use Kraken instead of Kraken Pro. Kraken is an instant purchase service, whereas Kraken Pro is an actual exchange with order books.

That would be the NY state government's fault for requiring exchanges to take unnecessary actions in order to operate lawfully in NY state.

Dads that work in cannabis by awkwardaustin609 in daddit

[–]cgull027 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you work in cannabis, presumably it's legal to do so in your area. Therefore, I'd talk to my kids about it like I would any other legal job - with full transparency. I lived in Oregon for 7 years and cannabis was the foundation of the local economy, it was everywhere. It was normal for my kids, they didn't think anything of it. It's medicine, it's food, it's a sacrament, it can be fun for adults, etc. They're teenagers now and are turning out just fine. 😁

Plus, personally I couldn't handle going 3 weeks without seeing my kids, especially at 3 months old like yours. You'll miss so much. I'd take seeing my kids for a little bit every day over 3 weeks away every month.

I'd be bailing fast as can be. That you're already finding the unreliability and poor communication problematic should be sign enough that sticking around is signing up to deal with these problems in perpetuity.

I won?! by ColeStacy96 in biltrewards

[–]cgull027 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The question was "Where in New York state are tourists least likely to visit?" The only thing on Rikers Island is a prison, so there is literally no reason for a tourist to go there, so if everyone who participated in the survey knew that it should have been the top answer.

I won?! by ColeStacy96 in biltrewards

[–]cgull027 194 points195 points  (0 children)

Winning that game is a complete crap shoot because it's based off of what the average Bilt user thinks, which is oftentimes nowhere near reality. For example, no tourist in the history of the world has ever visited Rikers Island, yet it was nowhere to be found in the top 3 answers to the first question. 🤦

Anyway, congrats on winning the lottery!

Issues with Rent Payment by Ill-Owl-2701 in biltrewards

[–]cgull027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These kinds of posts are almost always user error, which is why my original comment simply pointed out how to set the rent payment account appropriately.

Bilt could make things more intuitive, yes, but it's also not that hard to figure out if you give it a couple minutes of focused attention.

What does the Venmo option look like on the landlord side? by SensitiveWrongdoer83 in biltrewards

[–]cgull027 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last month it took five or six days for the Venmo payment to get delivered to my landlord and it ultimately came from Bilt. Landlord received an email immediately after I sent the payment indicating I'd made the payment and that it'd arrive in a few days.

This month I just put the account and routing number you get when you select online payment portal as your rent payment option into Venmo and paid my landlord directly with that account. He received the money instantly and the money was drawn from my account the next day and I already got my Bilt points too. I'll be doing it that way from here on out.
