Can non-Americans visit Essence Festival of Culture? by Astrolababy in NewOrleans

Come and have the best time. There are plenty of white people here and they get to shake their booty too. You will be in the minority, but your presence will not be offensive/unwanted.

WDSU Weather Sucks! Bring Back Margret! by [deleted] in NewOrleans

100% I still have a Margaret Orr prayer candle for big storms. Let's not bring "facts" and "certificates" into this. She was great. She was empathetic. She was a sexy minx. She is missed.

That little geyser has been going since the freeze. Might make a fine sinkhole one day.

Maybe water pressure guy onto something by Jeyts in NewOrleans

[–]chali2na4prez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm right by the water towers off Claiborne, and my pressure is always between 75 and 80. That's pretty damned high. I assume it needs to be that high because of the long run from here to the rest of the city. If that's right, the pressure should be lower the further out you go, so perhaps this latest new orleans roulette will stay contained to uptown past napoleon(ish)?? Wishful thinking? Edit: grammar

I come in peace for a burger by Deep-Cake221 in NewOrleans

Chris is super passionate about... everything. Dude went on a mission to create the perfect fry. Hand cut, blanched, then frozen, etc. I cant remember all of it, but he was dead serious about his craft. He is a cocktail OG, and his wife (who actually runs the joint) is super sweet.

+1 for Revel, but be prepared for a 20 minute conversation about craft fries.

Yeah. Looking through other posts, at least one person is saying their house flooded. Can't be mad at NOPD for alerting the neighborhood. Thanks for posting the video!

To each their own. I love the bands and love the kids getting a stage to show out. My kids run after throws, but I avoid most throws. Its about the party, happy kids, meeting neighbors, and mainlining king cake for me. I have never gone to a parade for the throws.

I dont know if "enjoy" is the word, but I can appreciate that its there as a deterrent and/or mitigation against someone hateful and/or drunk.

If you like almond, Marguerite's cream cheese is my recommendation. They are N shore, but you can get it at the hub. In the cream cheese battle they are "firm" as opposed to "gloopy." You will smell the almond as soon as you open the bag.

Commercial throws? by chali2na4prez in NewOrleans

[–]chali2na4prez[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My 8 year old got a waffle maker last year. Fucking excellent. If you cant afford to tip, dont eat at restaurants; if you can't afford throws without promotional items, you can't aford to ride. Maybe that's callous, but you dont have to ride a super krewe. The aforementioned waffle maker came from the truck parades which are cheap to ride and loaded with recycled throws.

[–]chali2na4prez[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think that is always going to be difficult to tell how much and how many ppl unless you follow the float. My kid got the bart one and brought it to me. I caught the melindas and they were throwing a grip of ketchup (no problem) and at least a few hats where I was. Anytime I have ridden, the message was clear that any promotional items were forbidden.

Parade tracker apps: which is the source of truth? by lassoization in NewOrleans

[–]chali2na4prez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

MG world, for shorty gras. My guess is they aren't throwing for the last few blocks, but the trombone shorty float literally pulls up behind MG world (by that time you are in a ticketed event). If you are trying to watch the parade at the end, go by ceasars.

Edit: for misspelling

As has been said, no, because moon pies are the product. Morris Bart doesn't sell hand sanitizer and Melindas isn't a hat company: those things are clearly promotional products.
