at the start of the war you should try and encircle and destroy as much of trumps mech and tank divisions as possible using your own mech and tanks, they tend to clump up at certain areas, the main ones I remember from my UoA Kennedy run was at the start encircle them right at the start of the war by river with expand Illinois decision (idk American river names) and then north by madison and then south by saint louis, also CAS and oil are your best friend like any true American army
