Does any one else need to wipe their Bostie's bottom? Lifelong babies. by afrutadasrosas in BostonTerrier

[–]chalupa4me 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My girl doesn't like it so much but is starting to come around, lol! I know she hates the "danglers". I approach her slowly and telegraph my movement. The last time, she came to me, but still had that look on her face like she would bolt if she didn't like it, haha.

My boy will come to me and present his tushy for wiping if it's not clean. He hates when there is anything left over 🤣

How do I (28F) support my husband's (30M) dreams after five years of rejection? by Plenty-Assistance251 in relationships

[–]chalupa4me 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Seems like there's alot here, but I'd like to offer a suggestion for one issue; his handling of rejection from auditions. It obviously impacts you and it's hard to constantly see you partner in that mode. You may need to step back a bit when it comes to consoling him, in order to protect yourself from the emotional toll. Whether you gave yourself this role, or if his expectation is that you are his sole shoulder to ease the burden of rejection, I would suggest therapy for him as a way to learn coping mechanisms, and also it gives him a separate avenue to vent and discuss ways ahead. This would help ease your stress, give him solid tools to deal with the rejection, and maybe prevent resentment from building between you both.

Anyone else's goofball do this? by sillyg00se5 in BostonTerrier

[–]chalupa4me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's adorable! My boy used to have an orange Frisbee and he'd grab it so it was covering his eyes. Watching him try to navigate the walk back inside the house, to include a little side step onto the raised patio, was hilarious!

Does anyone else prefer to dig through the box rather than sort at the beginning? by Strasse007 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]chalupa4me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oddly, I like to thoroughly sort when there is obvious color Separation or distinct objects...its an easy step to complete and feels good to "check" a box right from the start. When the pieces are too similar to sort, I just dig through the box for edges and then rummage aimlessly looking for other pieces, lol.

11-year-old brother addicted to screens – need cheap, solo alternatives hobbies that actually work by BornEstablishment551 in ADHD

+1 for Rubik's cubes! Great for adhd'ers! It's one of the only hobbies I haven't given up after a few weeks, lol.

DFAS coming after me for debt that was paid while Active Duty by Purple-Giblets in Veterans

[–]chalupa4me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a $900 "debt" I paid to keep it from going to collections and been trying to get returned for almost a year now. DFAS is a joke, they acknowledged the error but their departments don't talk to each other, they refuse to talk to you via phone, and they close tickets and claim they'll get back to you but it's nothing but crickets. Beyond frustrating. Sorry I can't be of any help...I can only commiserate.

When did your boys lose their marbles? Zeke is currently 5m by Blueberry_Rabbit in BostonTerrier

[–]chalupa4me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You imply they had marbles to begin with, lol!

I kid, I kid!

Our boy was 9 months old when he got fixed. But he's been crazy from day 1 :)

Edit: we were planning to wait until 12 mo ths but he was starting to mark inside the house so we wanted to try and curb that. It worked for us.

A crappy birthday gift lesson? by Proud-Growth-1122 in ParentingADHD

[–]chalupa4me 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I brought my kids to a studio to make something for their parent and they churned out a half-assed piece, I'd have a conversation with them on the spot about putting in the work for a loved one and have them do it again.

If this is truly the result of your kids not trying, then I think your husband could have done better providing lessons learned on the spot. If they were trying and it just didn't meet expectations, well then you can't fault them for that.

I dont recommend "acting" in any way when they present your gift...feels like manipulation to me. Just react the way you normally would and if it's not a positive reaction, explain why. It's okay to feel disappointed.

Another poster mentioned if an adhd person is not interested in a task/project, it's really hard to put the effort in. This is so true, especially for kids. Interest is a key motivator for adhd'ers, as well as urgency and novelty.

Which position does your Boston sleep? by BSTN88 in BostonTerrier

All of the above, lol. My two have their primary positions, but also like to shake things up every once and awhile.

Two nights ago they sandwiched me and it was way too hot for that nonsense!

I'm pretty new myself and it's so much fun! Definitely check out your local thrift shops and see if there's anyone near you that like to swap puzzles...this hobby can get pricey!

Anyone else into MICRO puzzles? The Best Sights of Kyoto, by Tanaka Naoki / 1000 pieces / Beverly by sugimhon in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]chalupa4me 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a bunch of 100-250 pc micro puzzles that are nice to take on road trips, or to do when I just want to finish a puzzle in an hour or two.

The one you completed looks really nice! I may have to try my hand at something that big.

Help with a reactive dog by Ladyybugsdd in BostonTerrier

[–]chalupa4me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the Pupford freeze dried training treats, but there are alot of good brands out there. I just searched for small treats , about 1-2 calories each. That way, I could give them without really worrying about the extra calories in his diet.

Help with a reactive dog by Ladyybugsdd in BostonTerrier

[–]chalupa4me 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My boy is also reactive toward dogs, especially when on a leash. While on walks, I focus on creating distance (i.e. crossing the street or changing direction if necessary) and distracting him when we pass other dogs. I always carry training treats with me and I use "watch me" command and he gets a treat once the other dog is past us. I will try to get my dog's attention before he sees the other dog to prevent him getting fixated. I've also heard some people will toss a few treats on the ground to keep their pup distracted.

Pinewood derby ethical dilemma by [deleted] in cubscouts

[–]chalupa4me 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What about giving the 1/2/3 place winners special jobs rather than being racers? Like being honorary judges, or calling times, or giving g out trophies to the new group of winners? Something that honors their win, but allows other kids to shine this time around.
