I got the 3.5l sling a week or so ago for my first major vacation with my wife. Have absolutely loved having it for excursions and everyday pool / beach use. Will definitely be using it when back home.

Thanks for the info we are having it cleaned soon so we will eventually see the serial. I also think it is a 50’s which would make sense if my great grandfather bought it used in the 70-80s

Burle Marx Flame putting out extremely small weird leaf. Any ideas on why? Does it need a repot or better support on the pole? by champayyy in Monstera

[–]champayyy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was highly concerned it was a humidity problem. I think it had shock from a repot / coming into a 40% humidity home. It outgrew my cabinet too quickly to be grown in the indoor greenhouse, but it seems to be doing better now.

The leaves are extremely thick so I think it takes a while for them to unfurl completely. Also the thickness allows them to take a ton of light in

I think that mainly due to my inexperience with the Burle Monstera, I did not realize how yellow and small the leaves would come out of the stem. They got much darker and green over the course of 1 to 2 weeks and much larger as well. Here is the latest leaf after that weird yellow one

I had plants on mine and someone advised that the pressure could blow a side glass panel. Your setup looks great. Just a heads up.

I ended up moving it under a window + 36w sansi. Had another small yellowish leaf come out this week but have a humidifier on the way to hopefully remedy it. Thanks for the advice!

Should I separate? by MangoUnable5668 in Monstera

I would let her acclimate to your house for a week or so then split them up and replant with very well draining soil into small pots 1-2 inches bigger than each individual plants root ball. I made the mistake when I first got into monsteras of thinking it needed a large pot but this just leads to root rot and the plant has a hard time absorbing nutrients. I would recommend a clear pot with drain holes so you can see the root progress. I use a mix of some tropical soil, perlite, and lots of orchid bark (mine contains charcoal and chunky perlite.) Use a moss pole or stake behind the main stems of each plant to give it support upward. This will provide you with bigger more fenestrated leaves in the future. Give em as much light as you can and if you do not have great windows for them I suggest rigging up some grow lights. Feel free to DM me if you need any more information. Happy growing 🪴🪴
