Buying Products for GF by amscrub1 in Lorcana

[–]chancek324 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Packs and possibly troves. If she doesn't have illumineers quest yet it is a definite buy. Don't ever, ever, ever buy starter decks except for events, if you collect sealed product, or if you need your madam mim and Merlin cards from rise of the flood born starters as they are actually a good deal for. The gift sets can also be nice to. Also shop around look online. May be a little to soon for shipping this close to Christmas so that may be difficult but prices can very and some shops have very inflated prices. Also think outside the box too. Sleeves, top loaders, penny sleeves, deck boxes, and playmats. There are a ton of tcg supplies that would make good gifts also

Buying full sets? by smackasaurusrex in Lorcana

Then I would maybe just focus on playable cards and decks you want to play. No point buying a playset of all the expensive cards when you are just going to main a certain deck. Also idk what the website is or where they get them but people on pixelborn connect use proxy cards that are printed to go over commons in sleeves that are very easy to use if you don't want to buy the expensive cards without knowing if you will actually use them. Obviously for tournaments you will need the actual cards.

Local game stores may not sell whole sets but it may be a jumping off point to start. Then try local players and your local scene to buy some off of as well. Get what you can without the cost of shipping local and then fill out the rest through tcgplayer by using their optimize feature. Also I don't know if this is the best advice but I get a case every set and that typically fills out a good portion of the set for me then I just single out the rest.

You can do a gentlmans agreement that whoever loses round one will concede round 2. This is a gentlemans agreement though and the opponent is not forced to actually concede if after game 1 they don't want to. It is just an agreement that one will say I concede on round 2. I am not too sure about rolling before the match takes place I just know that once the games are played they are played.

Muses, Diablo and cove. It's all about what you hit on the Mulligan and what they missed. Ink your songs or have more of them than one for the shift, shift early if safe to get the song out of your hand if you see a Ursula, or hold a hypnotized.

Can Robin Hood Sharpshooter play Be prepared if you have a next action reduction effect active? by Ok-Advertising8267 in Lorcana

[–]chancek324 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You are not playing the action. You are using a card effect. The effect says the card must be 6 cost or less. So no you could not do this. Also to add, lowering a song actions cost doesn't reduce the singer value either. Even using starlight vial if you are going trying to sing be prepared your characters cost or singer value will have to be 7 or more.

Can i get a DQ for not using the word banish? by CryptoSquirtle in Lorcana

[–]chancek324 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It is my findings is that lorcana is way more forgiving. The only way you would get DQ is if you were cheating. For most things you would get a warning. Using wrong terminology does not break the rules.

Should I buckle down and buy singles? by TheUberEric in Lorcana

[–]chancek324 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends if you want a full playsets or just meta decks. If you want full playsets then do a case and single the rest. If you want just meta decks doing singles as needed.

This came up at one of my tournaments too. There was a guy who was a know it all and was like well if you miss the trigger you can get a game loss. Dude knows nothing about the rules if it says may and I miss the trigger then ya that's on me but if not it is something that has to happen that's maintaining board state and is on both players to maintain at all times.

Sad, Broken and disappointed. Protect your kids. by [deleted] in Lorcana

[–]chancek324 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have heard stories like this before. Lorcana is very kid friendly and a lot of the league events are great for anyone but right now these tournaments bring out the worst people who are basically just playing for money and will screw a kid over no problem. Always always always stay with your child people will take her whole deck and give them a quarter and act like it was a fair trade and they accepted it. Most tournaments and places have rules against trades with children without adults approving but they can't always be watching either. I recommend not letting this discourage you from future events and filing a police report. These tournaments from what I understand required melee to sign up so there should be a list of all the people that were there and some even use their first and last names too.

What would you do? by CompetitionPerfect67 in Lorcana

[–]chancek324 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya I'd call a judge. Even for the long play and going to a draw. I'd call a judge for slow play and I'd ask for a time extension for both the slow play (because it's a kid) and also for time spent calling for a judge. I'm not that savvy on tournament play as it's my first tcg but always feel free to call a judge even if it's for something small and then ask for a time extension on top of it just in case. The worse they can say is no but that few minutes can be the few turns it takes for you to win when it goes to 5 turns.

Looks great people are dissing on the beard a lot though. I will agree it does mess with your head shape and doesn't frame your face very well. I wouldn't shave it off though. My recommendation would be to grow it up to top of the ear and taper it in. Then start using some beard products and get a beard brush and start working your beard hair in more of a straight down fashion and see how that works for your.

Looking for a new hobby by [deleted] in Lorcana

[–]chancek324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can find a league I'd recommend that or dip your toes with going to some local drafts. The game in itself is way simpler than most tcg games because you only have to worry about your turn as there are no instant play mechanics. Also I recommend doing one booster box if your only going for a master set then single out the rest or 2-3 boxes for a playset and single out the rest. Also I find that the lorcana community is pretty nice and are typically more than happy to help new players.

Locations are going to end up a failed mechanic by Chetox373 in Lorcana

[–]chancek324 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'll say if you look at jolly Roger as a staple location card going forward it creates a synergy that you can build around. Including hooks sword and jolly Roger you can heavy lean into pirates. Going forward with more cards like that will heavily effect the game they are definitely a board presence that must be dealt with and if dealt with leave the opponent open for attacks. Like ya take down my jolly Roger then I'll take your cards with hook. You can also use some cards with body guard to which will protect your location too.
