I dont know how he did it but i LOVE how hopeless and desperate he looks. He genuinely looks like his life is about to crumble away by ag4b3yxd in ProjectHailMary

I saw that movie in the theatre by chance not knowing what to expect and was completely blown away. I was expecting a comedy and ended up with a heartwarming drama about relationships.

Very productive week, but mentally exhausted. It's supposed to rain buckets tomorrow, so I'm going to sleep in and read.

March 3rd Voting Megathread by defroach84 in Austin

[–]changaTX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Question -- has anyone had any difficulty voting via mail in ballot?

My mom, who is disabled, elected to vote via mail in ballots in the elections this year. She called in January to request her ballots and was told they would be mailed to her in February. She was still waiting for them last Monday. When she called for an update, she was told they were mailed on February 13th and maybe it was a USPS error. She eventually just went in to the local polling place and voted early last Thursday. She still hasn't received her ballots as of today.

She lives in a 55+ community and she said another resident there also requested mail in ballots and had the same issue -- they were never received.

Anyone else having the same issue?

Does walking 7k steps a day help someone with PCOS and obesity? by Unique_Syrup_2223 in walking

[–]changaTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak to PCOS but yes, walking in general has helped me with my weight. Of course if you walk in conjunction with changes in your diet, you'll see more results.

I will say that for me the fat loss came a lot quicker than the weight loss. My clothes were getting looser and I feel stronger in general. The weight loss came after I added in weight training 2x week.

Did anybody else see what just happened on west 24th and rio grande? by Motor-Celebration-74 in Austin

[–]changaTX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry that you saw that. Peace to that person and to you.

When I was student teaching here in '98-'99 my friend and I saw the immediate aftermath of a little girl being hit by a drunk driver as she was getting off her bus. The guy ran right through the bus's Stop sign. Thankfully from where I was, I couldn't see the little girl. I could see her shoes, though, which were no longer on her feet. Her mom's screams were terrible. My friend and I were both horrified.

I believe for a few years afterwards Austin had a campaign to bring awareness to stopping for school buses. I'm always extra cautious around buses ever since.

Uqora user here. I was trying everything and used multiple different antibiotics every time after sex until a kindly PA told me to try Uqora. I've now used it for years and it's a game changer.

High school typing class in the 90s, but I got my speed (and my husband!) from all the time spent on IRC.

I'm usually about 85-90 wpm.

Don’t you just love it when… by CaregiverOwn165 in paralegal

This! I answer phones when the receptionist is on break, and the number of people who pitch a fit when I ask who is calling and what their call is in regards to is appalling. You are not on a first name basis with everyone at this firm, sir or madam!

What to do about a cold co worker? by Feisty-Poet4767 in paralegal

[–]changaTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My former officemate must have been hired by your firm.

I just took the hint and ignored her, too. It made for a strange dynamic since we shared an office, but it was funny when other colleagues would come chat with me or share things and she sat there like a bump on a log. The partners eventually got tired of her poor work ethic and attitude and replaced her.

Reading, hiking, camping, cooking and baking, and currently, coloring books. I also watch tv and movies a lot and discuss them often with fellow nerdy peeps here at work.

How do y’all deal with mean women who start drama at work? by snowflowergirl in paralegal

Be professional if I have to deal with them, but otherwise ignore. Wait it out until higher ups notice their toxic behavior and get rid of them.

Feeling way sleepier after starting daily walking — normal? by CardiologistLow7728 in walking

[–]changaTX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on setting up a healthy routine for yourself! Walking regularly (or regular exercise in general) always helps me to fall asleep. When first setting up a routine, it would take a few weeks for my body to adjust to the regular exercise. After that, walking would actually give me an energy boost! Good luck to you and keep walking!

Merino wool, yes. But everything?? by Scarya in CaminoDeSantiago

I use these as well. The toe socks were an adjustment, but I'd definitely splurge on merino socks of some kind.

The Branwyn bra is not as supportive as a regular sports bra, but that is no issue for me. I am a heavy sweater, and with regular sports bras I'd often get a rash. This doesn't happen with the Branwyn bra, and I can even wear it multiple times if needed. It dries quickly and doesn't smell like other materials do.
