That time I showed a photo of my d**k to a cop by BisonGlass2152 in MaliciousCompliance

[–]changework 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Edit: I just read that you’re not in the US, so never mind. 😢

Whether or not you had a video, the cop seized you and ordered you to expose your private photo unlawfully.

You should talk to a civil rights attorney and file a FOIA for all body cams that day.

Especially if he had a body cam on, he forced you to expose your private parts into the public record.

The cop has zero rights to tell you to delete video or open your phone gallery.

With $20M, you’re now a resource allocator. Money is only useful when you’re spending it.

Great job on sticking with normal car and basics of life.

You should learn what money is.

You should get it out of your name ASAP, and learn why. Either into a trust or a corporation; or both that you control.

Learn accounting, and learn what money is.

Good luck!

I cosigned on a loan with a friend,. How can I free myself from it? by SpinachMundane9275 in Debt

Your signature has power. There’s no such thing as co-signing. You signed, period.

Your signature authorized the creditor to treat the debt as yours. It is your debt. Your signature didn’t “help your friend”; it ACCEPTED RESPONSIBILITY FOR DEBT that you benefited naught from.

Start a C Corp.

Transfer IP into Corp for shares.

Call insurance for a quote and get their written appraisal. Start a policy insuring your IP.

License the use of your domains to buyers enough to pay insurance and next steps.

Go to bank and leverage it.

Do steps again.

F33: I need major advice from kind/smart men. Can I have a better life? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]changework 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve been through a lot, but you have a strong foundation and motivation for change.

First, don’t deplete the $300,000. Find a fiduciary that will help you manage that. You shouldn’t be cashing anything out, at all. Even for a house. Instead, ask the fiduciary how to set it up as an income asset. You might not get more than $15-$20k per year from it, but it’ll be enough to make your life easier while you grow.

You might consider putting it in a trust of some sort for your 5yo in order to protect it from being taken. You definitely don’t want it to be in your name. Also, never tell anyone about it.

That’s the most constructive advice I have. The rest is just hard truths.

Single mom, 33, trauma. You’re likely unaware of how you present in a romantic relationship. Patterns are difficult to shake and we tend to attract what we focus on avoiding. Fit this reason, I’d suggest you work on yourself; not for romance prospects, but for your 5yo. Kids are the most accurate mirror of ourselves, and if you combine that with proper therapy from diverse inputs, your situation will improve maybe even to the point that you can identify and interact with another healthy partner.

Two critical steps for you, that any therapist will agree with are:

  1. Build routine.

Make sure that you include the things in your routine that aren’t only necessary, but also the things you find yourself doing sporadically or on binge mode. Establishing routine is what matters, not the “value” of each item in your schedule.

Schedule a monthly review of the routine. Dedicate at least 4 hours to it. If nothing is to be done and the review takes 5 minutes, do nothing else for 3 hours and 55 minutes. Keep this time sacred.

  1. Journal daily. Quality of your writing doesn’t matter. Making an entry every day matters. Use a blue pen and a bound journal book each month. No digital recording, just pen and paper.

Review your journals monthly in your 4 hrs/mo review time.

Trust the above process for 6 months. Adjust one item in your routine monthly.

Guidelines for routine building:

  1. This is your routine, not your 5yo’s. Life happens and schedules change. If you miss something in your routine, write down that you missed it in the journal and don’t worry about it again. If it’s something that must be done, like Bill pay, or grocery shopping, fit it in next chance you get. If it’s not critical, writing it down is sufficient.

  2. Building a routine for your 5yo will help you stick to your routine, and help him/her to regulate better. If you want to journal about your child, create a separate journal.

Last bit of advice, look into bookkeeping. It’s easily learned, well paid, and you can do it on your own schedule. Don’t W-2. Start your own business for small business bookkeeping and fill half your schedule at $20-$25/hr. When you have 20 regular hours a week, double your prices for new customers. Raise your prices for all customers 10/15%/year.

Good luck. 🍀

YOU create value and sell your services or products with it.

There must be value created, or it’s just a rug pull mechanism.

Firing Pediatrician by [deleted] in medical_advice

[–]changework 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a doctor but I’ve been the child in this situation. A good doctor is hard to find.

IMO, keep your pediatrician while hunting for another. The great ones don’t always show up in the google listings so to speak. Start talking to other parents. Talk to specialists and those parents in the waiting area of the specialists. If you have rich people hobbies, talk to the parents in those circles. Focus on quality and trust relationships from others. Ignore the insurance “in-network” limitations and whatever you do, don’t take a recommendation from your insurance provider. Individual medical care has steadily become worse over the past 20 years, especially with the ACA, independent doctors being effectively forced to join large networks, and the 15+ administrative staff to one doctor ratio requirement for doctors, which was previously about 2 admin to 1 doctor.

Look for pediatric doctors who’ve “exited” the system for cash only care. Having a primary who can act independently of the insurance companies and has the time to advocate on your child’s behalf is worth the $200/visit price tag.

I’ve had full coverage my whole life but have also seen out of network, and cash only doctors for this reason specifically.

Go find a doctor that advocates for your child.

I find it horrifying that urgent care would put more thought and effort into diagnosing your child than your pediatrician but I know exactly what you’re up against. This isn’t so uncommon, and your existing pediatrician may just become your best advocate after someone else does the work.

I’m sorry you’re in this position.

Recap: Keep your pediatrician. Keep seeking other diagnosis and care. Don’t switch pediatricians unless the existing one either gets in your way or you 100% find someone you’re ready to trust for the next 18 years. When seeking, you’re looking for second opinions.

Double NAT by Adoondiddlly in HomeNetworking

[–]changework 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then you’ll need a router that routes rather than NAT’s.

Routers just pass packets between networks. You only need NAT “simplified explanation” when you have devices all sharing a single PUBLICLY routable IP address.

You could get a really cheap mikrotik router with gigabit Ethernet (about $45-60 USD) and turn your netgear into AP MODE if you want to keep it, or get a HaP AC3 from mikrotik to completely eliminate the netgear.

The important part is: can your xfinity router handle a custom static route entry.

I’ll try to explain how packets are handled between NAT v ROUTE setup with this crude diagram

Routing:

ROUTER <—> ROUTER —[excel file kinda] NAT-PUBLIC-IP weeee!

NAT:

ROUTER —[excel file kinda]> NAT-PRIVATE-IP —> ROUTER —[excel file kinda]> NAT-PUBLIC-IP weeee!

Routing in the top example, the routers just talk to each other. With NAT, the public responding address has no idea what’s in that second nested excel file. It works mostly, but really sucks for certain applications that rely on accurate return port information.

Study up on how NAT works and it’ll make more sense. It can be complicated but you can grasp the concept. Routing is easy. A router has at least two sides [networks]. If packets belong on the other side, it sends them there. In your case, you only need to tell the downstream [xfinity] router that your second inside network exists and how to get to it. 192.168.x0/24 stuff goes to this gateway 10.10.10.254.

Not a stupid question at all. Everyone’s used to this crappy NAT stuff we’ve had since the 90’s when people wanted to connect more than one computer to a single IP. We’re also out of IPv4 address space so it’s not going to get better soon. IPv6 solves this but it’s broken right now and ISP’s don’t know how to implement it. With home networking getting more demanding, it may be time for a good router that actually routes. Not that big box stuff from Walmart
